I attended to my duties at the temple as usual. Attended Y.M.M. Gen. Bd. & my Circle meeting.

3 November 1921 • Thursday

I took 6:20 car for my work at temple.

Attended to my regular temple duties and attended regular weekly Council meeting of the Presidency, the Twelve and Patriarch in the temple from 10 A.M. to 1 P.M. One of our workers, Peter A. [page break] Brunn had an Epileptic attack while at the veil or in the Celestial room, the second of the kind he has had lately.

4 November 1921 • Friday

I went to the temple about 7:40 A.M. and remained until abt. 9:30 <or 10.> when I left to take train for Manti to attend the So. Sanpete Stake Conference. All well at home

I was met at Ephraim by Bishop Peter D. Jensen of Ephraim So. Ward and driven to the campus where we witnessed part of a match game of football between Snow Normal College team and the H. School team from Monroe in So. Sevier stake, and later taken to the Bishops’ home where I was made welcome and comfortable during my stay in Ephraim.

5 November 1921 • Saturday

This is “Founders Day” for Snow Academy but owing to conference the exercises of the day were postponed until Monday.

I attended Stake Priesthood and officer’s meeting at 10 A.M. and addressed the meeting for 40 minutes on Service. After the Sisters had withdrawn and the business of the Priesthood meeting had been attended to, I addressed them again for about 25 min.

The attendance was 325.

I spoke at the afternoon meeting upon the subject. Thy Will be done naming duties, occupied 40 minutes. Attendance 560.

6 November 1921 • Sunday

Ephraim

I attended So. Eph Wd. S.S. and addressed the children briefly, Subject. Keep Growing [page break] intellectually and Spiritually as well as physically.

I addressed the 10 A.M. Con. meeting on war & peace this being the fast day & a special prayer meeting or meetings for the Reduction in Armaments Conference which is to meet in Washington on the 11th inst. Occupied 30 min. Attendance 920,

I addressed the afternoon meeting for about 40 min. on Tithing.

Did not read Extracts from Browns Book.

Sunday Evening Conjoint Meeting attendance 590. I occupied about 40 min. Subject Honor. Parents & God.

7 November 1921 • Monday

I attended Snow Normal College Founder’s Day parade & exercises & gave the address occupying 40 min. Read extracts from ‘He Can Who thinks He Can[’] by Marden on Self Reliance.

Returned home in afternoon & Mother & I went down to Sarahs aftr supper and stayed until 11 P.M.

Joel & Georgina came after us.

While in Ephraim I administered to several people assisted by other brethren.

8 November 1921 • Tuesday

I spent the day at the temple as usual. Attended to some ordinance work, answered questions after the morning meeting.

Mother & I spent part of the evening at Lucena’s on P. Street, with the children while she & Rega were out. [page break]

9 November 1921 • Wednesday

I went to the temple as usual taking the 7:30 street car.

I aim to go thus early each morning when I do not go earlier. Some times I ride down town with my son George who aims to be at his work at 7:30.

This morning I set apart Thomas C. Collister and Lewis Owen Clark as regular Temple workers, assisted by Bro. Albert W. Davis.

I administered to Bp. Nelson’s daughter Anna Laura of Burley. Bro. Brown anointed her. I attended circle meeting from 6:30 to 7:30.

10 November 1921 • Thursday

Arrived at Temple at 7:35

Attended 9 A.M. meeting and at 10 A.M. attended Weekly Council meeting in the Temple. Attended to the sealing of seven couples and sealing of a family of six children.

Arranged proxy’s on the lists of sealings to attend to to-morrow-

Called upon Presidents Grant & Ivins and presented to them the rulings & instructions given [8 words redacted relating to a temple ordinance]

With Geo & LeGrand & our wives. I took supper and spent the evening at Joels’ home. My daughter Edna left for Caldwell Idaho, to join her husband there for a few days.

11 November 1921 • Friday

Three years ago today the Armistice was signed, but peace and prosperity to the nation is far off. [page break] I have been disappointed in that having won the war at such cost, the results have not been more satisfactory. I had hoped for something like the proposed League of Nations provided for at Versales Congress would accomplish what we so much desire. Now another movement is on foot looking towards peace and prosperity too for the nations.

To-day representatives from the leading nations of the earth are met in Washington to parley over national questions and to eliminate some of the expense of maintaining the armies & navies &c by the Reduction of Armaments.

At the meetings in the temple to-day I was the speaker and talked about Armistice day and the Conference being held in Washington commencing to-day.

George, LeGrand and Clarence with their wives met me at the temple and furnishing our own proxies we sealed 59 couples of our own people. I attended to a number of other sealings during the day.

Mother, Mamie and Clarence went through with the last Company. In the evening I took Mother, Clarence, Mamie & Lucena & Ray to the Pantages.

12 November 1921 • Saturday

I took 7:20 A.M. train for Nephi where with others I attended the [page break] Juab Stake Conference and Group Convention. I also attended Stake Social in the evening. I took part in the exercises with the others.

13 November 1921 • Sunday

Nephi. I attended the Convention meetings and spoke at the R Class meeting and in the afternoon meeting. At the latter there were 908 or 24% of the stake population present. I spoke on the Stake record. Ward teaching, sacramental meetings and distributing the offices. Some of us came home on the 3:35 P.M. train others remained. Took supper with Geo. & Edith and spent an hour or so with them.

14 November 1921 • Monday

I spent the day in the temple until 4:15 when I went with the other directors of the Taylor Richards Motor Co. and interviewed Pres. Grant & Counselors with a view to having them build a home for our business on Social Hall Ave. Matter taken under consideration.

A company of 119 young girls came down from Weber Stake to attend to baptisms for the dead. We held a special meeting with them at 9 A.M.

15 November 1921 • Tuesday

I spent the most of the day in the temple. Attended to some business outside and in the evening I took Geo. & Edith with Alice to the “Wilko” & saw “The Country Cousins.” I invited Joel & Georgina but Joel was not able to go. [page break]

16 November 1921 • Wednesday

Some snow fell during the night but most all melted as it fell.

I went to the temple as usual and was busy all day. Attended the Y.M.M.I. Gen. Bd. Meeting at 5 P.M. & my Circle meeting at 6:30 P.M.

17 November 1921 • Thursday

Snow & cold

I attended to the regular duties of the temple and attended the regular weekly meeting of the Presidency, the Twelve and Patriarch from 10 A.M. to about 2:30 P.M.

I presented to the First Presidency a type written list of twenty-two questions to be ruled upon and a number of suggested changes in the ordinance ceremonies mostly of minor importance.

I spent the evening at home with my family.

18 November 1921 • Friday

I left home for the Temple on 7 A.M. car.

We have several inches of snow and cold freezing weather.

I spent several hours with the First Presidency, my assistants Jos F. Smith, & Albert Davis & Recorders Christensen & McAllister at the Presidents office

Many questions were asked and decisions made and Jos. Fielding Smith, Bro Dunson W. McAllister and I were appointed to formulate a list of decisions for guidance at all the Temples when approved by the First Presidency. This was done on my recommendation.

I attended to sealings as usual

Took 11:50 P.M. train for Alexander, [page break] Idaho where I arrived at about 7 A.M. next morning in a blizzard of snow and wind.

19 November 1921 • Saturday

Arrived at Alexander at 7 A.M. I was met by one of the Bishops’ of Grace wards and taken in auto 6 miles to Grace where I attended the Bannock Stake Conference.

I spoke at forenoon meeting 45 minutes. Conditions temporally and spiritually with the people generally

I also spoke at afternoon meeting “Thy will be done” &c. Good liberty.

I stayed at the Sant Hotel.

20 November 1921 • Sunday

I attended and spoke at both the morning and afternoon sessions. Subject in forenoon Honor parents. In afternoon subj. Tithing, respect of authority, Hope of Reward or Fear of Punishmt

I took 4:05 train, 35 min late and connected at McCammon arriving home at 11:30 P.M.

21 November 1921 • Monday

Fine Day.

I spent the day at the temple as usual and attended to some business out side.

I this day bought from Z.C.M.I. a black suit of clothes for 50.00 a Phedora Hat 8.30 and suspenders at 80 cts.

I spent the evening at home and retired early.

22 November 1921 • Tuesday

I attended to Temple duties as usual, and in the evening Alice & I attended President Heber J. Grants’ birthday entertainment at his home given by [page break] his daughters. A splendid entertainment including supper.

23 November 1921 • Wednesday

Rain fell during the night.

I went to the temple as usual.

On account of Thanksgiving Day our Council meeting convenes to-day. I sealed 23 couples. In the evening my son George & I went to Salt Lake Theatre and saw Ira Dean throw Gardner from N.Y.

24 November 1921 • Thursday

I spent the forenoon at the temple and in the afternoon went to the ball game where the A.C. team beat the U. of U. team in a football game, 14 to 3. All our unmarried children, except Ruby who is nursing, took Thanksgiving dinner with Mamie & Clarence

We called at my daughter Sarah’s home and Geo. & I administered to her baby Alice who is not well.

A good day, good weather &c.

25 November 1921 • Friday

I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual, and in the evening I took train for Idaho Falls.

26 November 1921 • Saturday

In company with Elder B. H. Roberts I arrived in I Falls at 9 A.M.

We were met by Stake President, Heber C Austin and taken to his home where we made our headquarters while in the town. At forenoon session Elder Roberts occupied an hour and in the afternoon I did the same. Attendance 400 & 618. [page break] We took necessary steps to create a new Seventies Quorum. We set apart some Presidents of Seventies.

27 November 1921 • Sunday

I. Falls.

Attendance 1046 & 1165. At forenoon meeting Pres Roberts occupied an hour 10 min. In afternoon we each had about 40 min. I spoke first. Subjects treated by me during the Conference were as fol.:

Thy will be done— W. of W., Fast & offerings, Sacrament & atonement, genealogy and Temple work, Teaching, attendance at Sacramental meetings. Be on time and be orderly in the house of worship.

I ordained 33 Seventies. Pres. Roberts ordained about an equal number.

We took 7:10 P.M. train for home.

Arrived in Pocatello at 9 P.M. My son-in-law Geo L Tate from Incom met me at Ry station. with a Ford and drove me 12 miles to Incom where I spent about 4 hours. Geo L. & I administered to a little boy Rulon Skeem.

I took train at 1:35 A.M. for home.

28 November 1921 • Monday

I arrived from Idaho Falls, Idaho. at 7:20 A.M. After going home and cleaning up I went to the temple, attended to some correspondence, wrote up my journal &c

In the evening Alice & I went to the Wilks & Saw “Tiger Rose”.

29 November 1921 • Tuesday

I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual. I presided at a missionary meeting and set apart seven missionaries and instructed them

Attended to important church matters [page break] with Bro. G. F. Gibbs, Pres. Allen of Summit Stake & Elder Widtsoe.

In the evening I took Mother and Lucena to see the “Sheik” at Paramount.

30 November 1921 • Wednesday

Attended to duties at the Temple as usual. Sealed 22 couples and a number of children to parents.

I received a phone call from my niece Nannie Smith Ashcroft from Brigham City saying she was in trouble and wanting to make an appointment with me so that she and her daughter niece Sadie might meet me I arranged to meet them in Ogden, leaving Salt Lake on 4 P.M. Bamberger line

I was gone on this trip from 4 to 7:40. [first and last names redacted]s’ daughter 10 yrs of age says her cousins husband attempted rape on her. I heard and advised in the matter.

Charles & Edna took Mother & me to the S.L. Theatre & saw “Bird of Paradise”.
