I spent part of the day at the temple and part at home studying.

2 March 1930 • Sunday

No conferences. I took part in the exercises of the 27th Ward S. School and Fast meeting & was the Speaker in the Conjoint M.I.A. meeting in the 14th ward in the evening.

3 March 1930 • Monday

I attended to my duties in the Temple as usual.

I went through the Temple at night. [page break]

4 March 1930 • Tuesday

I contracted a cold to-day.

I took Mother & Ruby in my car to Brigham City where we went to see Isaac Hanson. We made settlement of the Chicken interest Jack had with his brother. Isaac bought Ruby’s interest by note. I took Mother & Ruby to the Paramount Show at night.

5 March 1930 • Wednesday

I have a cold. I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual.

We are having our home painted & floors planed & painted &c.

6 March 1930 • Thursday

My cold developing. I attended to the usual Thu meetings in the Temple. Mother & I received complimentary tickets to the Paramount & we went in the evening and witnessed the “Vagabond King”. All talking picture and a wonder.

7 March 1930 • Friday

I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual. In the evening my son George & I went to the McCullough Arena & saw the wrestling match on complimentary tickets.

8 March 1930 • Saturday

My cold is still agrevating & Mother & Ruby are coming down with same thing.

I spent most of the day at the Temple a studying. I administered to Mother & Ruby, and took train for Minidoka.

9 March 1930 • Sunday

Our 48th anniversary of our marriage. My cold still on [page break] and agravating. I arrived in Minedoke at 6:40 A.M. and was met by Bro. Jos. Hopper & son who took me in auto to Malta about 45 mi. I attended and spoke in both the forenoon & afternoon meetings, and was driven back to Rupert where I got train at 5:55 P.M. for home.

10 March 1930 • Monday

Arrived home from Raft River Stake, Malta ward, at 7: A.M. I took Taxy home and later returned to the Temple in my car.

Mother & Ruby & I still have troublesome colds. I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual. Went through at night.

11 March 1930 • Tuesday

I spent part of the day at home with the painters who are painting the interior of our home.

12 March 1930 • Wednesday

My cough & cold still bad.

I spent the day at the Temple and made the talk at the Temple meeting.

13 March 1930 • Thursday

My cough and cold was so bad, I remained in bed all day and received vigorous treatment.

My wife and daughter Ruby are having quite a time also with colds & cough, a sort of Flue I mean.

14 March 1930 • Friday

I went to the Temple in the morning. I attended the funeral [page break] services of Sister Walter P. Monson held in Sugar House Ward at 12:30 P.M. and was one of five speakers.

15 March 1930 • Saturday

I spent most of the day at home assisting the folks with their moving into the bedrooms the painting havend dried. I had my car fenders repaired.

16 March 1930 • Sunday

Stormy part of the day & part fine. Mother and I went down to Lucena’s to dinner. Most of the day was spent at home I wrote to Ray & to LeGrand and worked on a subject for discourse.

17 March 1930 • Monday

I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual

Mother & I are still wrestling with our <colds.> I went through the temple at night, which means that I had endowments for one of my dead kindred.

Thus far this year I have averaged one endowment per week.

18 March 1930 • Tuesday

Mother & I had a better night last than usual. We are in hopes that we have a turn for the better. I went to the Temple early in the morning and attended to desk work. Improvements are going on in the home.

I assisted in setting apart and instructing a company of missionaries.

19 March 1930 • Wednesday

I was at the Temple before 8: A.M. Attended to sealing of living & other duties [page break] I took my car and with me Bros. Israel Call, Jos. Christensen & John Lawson and went down to 2430 So. 7th East St and blessed Bro. Jacob P. Olsen. We called on Bro. Wm A. Morton and blessed him & his good wife. Bro Morton has been afflicted for about five years and at present is in a very bad condition. Bro Jacob Peter Olsen had a stroke last Sunday.

Assisted by J. C. & J. F. S. I blessed Christopher Alston for his health & the vision, that it might be preserved unto him.

I left the Temple for home about 7: P.M.

20 March 1930 • Thursday

I attended Temple meeting at 9: A.M., a meeting of the Twelve at 9:30 A.M. and regular Council meeting at 10: A.M. Attended to the living sealings &c. I took Mother & Ruby out looking for stair carpet, bath room rugs &c between 4: & 6: o’clock.

21 March 1930 • Friday

My cold breaking.

I was in the Temple before 8: A.M.

Attended to my duties there as usual and went through with the 5 o’clock Company. After this session I married Franklin Richards, Son of Ezra F. and a Miss Anderson.

22 March 1930 • Saturday

I went to Mt. Pleasant and spoke at the 7:30 P.M. meeting the first session of the North Sanpete Stake Conference I was met at Payson by Pres. Neilsen and I spent the night at his home

23 March 1930 • Sunday

Mt. Pleasant.

I attended and spoke at both sessions of Conference in Fairview and took the train at 3:45 for home. Arrived in Salt Lake @ 8:30 P.M.

24 March 1930 • Monday

I went to the Temple in the early morning where I spent the day, active as usual. I went through the Temple at night for Michael Shockliten, and assisted at the veil.

25 March 1930 • Tuesday

Am well.

Attended Quarterly meeting of the Twelve from 9:30 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.

I went out to Nibley Park and played first game of golf of the season. Took supper at My daughter Mamie’s with Mother and Ruby.

26 March 1930 • Wednesday

Mother & I abt well.

We went to the Temple in the early morning where we spent the day & evening until about 9:30 P.M. except that We went down to my daughter Nervas and administered to her boy Willard, thence to the Richards Motor Co. where I made exchange of note by Joel for $1000. to Richards Motor Co. He payed $1000. to the Co. He received the money from sale of his interest in the Long Beach fun house.

27 March 1930 Thursday

Am well.

Mother & I went to the Temple in the early morning, and remained all day & evening until [blank] [page break] I attended Temple meeting at 9:00 A.M.; meeting of the Twelve at 9:30 A.M., and weekly Council meeting of the Presidency & Twelve from 10: A.M. to about 3:00 P.M.

I presented to the brethren the Substance of a conversation had with my grand daughter Mercedese about the way the garments are worn and the effect of having to wear the garment upon L.D.S. girls. Formal dress is the rage and that kind of dress cannot be worn with L.D.S. garments, as given to us with the endowments. Many good girls are marrying outside the Temple on that account.

28 March 1930 • Friday

Mother & I went to the Temple in the morning as usual. We went out long enough to buy a stair Carpet. We spent a busy day and left the temple about 7: P.M. My Son Geo & I attended the wrestling match.

29 March 1930 • Saturday

I spent the day at home and running about fixing up the home, placing furniture &c. The rooms are now finished painting &c. except a few small items.

30 March 1930 • Sunday

I attended 27th ward Fast meeting and Sunday School. Our family folks came in to see us and we served icecream. We had to dinner, Spencer & Mamie, Edna & Ruby & Alberta. [page break]

31 March 1930 • Monday

Mother & I spent the day at the Temple and I went through with the second session in the evening and helped them at the veil. It was about 12: o’clock when I got home.
