Warm weather. Last evening about 10:15 P.M. I had a telephone call from my cousin Jim Whiting of Mendon announcing the death of his mother, Aunt Ann Whitney at 6:00 P.M. yesterday.
I went to the temple as usual this morning where I had a busy day though there were not so many sealings as we have been having during June month.
2 July 1926 • Friday
I attended to my work at the Temple as usual. Called on Ruth Cannon—on account of Aunt Minnie Eckles’ illness. Called on our folks and took Nina & Children for a ride in the evening.
The temple closed this day for the summer cleaning & renovating, to open again Aug 16th [page break]
3 July 1926 • Saturday
I took my car to the Shop and had it greased & oiled.
Attended a special meeting of Temple workers held in the Temple 222 present. I presided & occupied about 60 min in addressing the meeting. Had good liberty.
4 July 1926 • Sunday
Home.
I took my Franklin car & took Mother, Bro. Fred, dau. Nerva & Thelma & went to Mendon and attended the funeral services of my Aunt Ann Whitney and was one of the Speakers. After the Services we went over to Fielding and saw my sister Alice Ann and home We arrived in S.L. City about 9:30 P.M. and went down to LeGrand’s in Sugar House & saw him. He just returned this afternoon from a six months mission in the Eastern States Mission.

A Public Holiday, to-day.
I arose at 6:00 A.M. washed my car, watered the Lawn &c before breakfast. Spent the forenoon & part of the afternoon at home. Mother & I went down to Mamie’s and took dinner with her and I took them for a ride. We spent the evening at LeGrands a number of the family being present. [page break] I mailed a letter to my daughter Sarah at Basel, Swis.

Weather moderated
I took Mother down town to shop and I went to the Temple I married a couple, attending to other business there. Had my auto polished up by Bro C. J. Gulbransen who charged me nothing, a very generous act. I made ready my car to make the trip to Heber tomorrow with the Temple workers.
7 July 1926 • Wednesday
With my car I took Mrs. Sadie McBride [blank] and her two children from Mrs. Geo. L Gibbs’ to the D. & R.G. Ry depot. There gathered up my passengers, Albert W. Davis, Margaret Sharp and Lulu Green Richards and with my wife we left for Heber City via Parley’s Canyon at 7:35 A.M. on the Temple Worker’s excursion. We arrived in Heber at 10:00 A.M. We had five or six hundred people in attendance and had a very enjoyable time. Leaving the Hot Pots at abt. 4:40 and returning via Provo Canyon we arrived home at 7:40 P.M. It commenced to rain hard about 7:30 P.M. Joel & family returning from a trip in the North West & to British Colombia called about 10:00. Clarence & Mamie & Orin & Nerva called.

I went to the Temple in the morning and spent some time. Returned home and washed my car and did some writing, reading &c. It rained hard for a while.
In the evening I took Mother, Geo & Edith down to Nerva’s and later to the Victory.

Mother & I went with Joel & wife to Brigham City on business and pleasure combined, in Chrysler car. I drove part of the way, the first time I ever drove a Chrysler car. We called at the Hermitage in Ogden Canyon & took dinner. Later Mother & I went down to our daughter Mamie’s home in Sugar House and visited there with Mamie, Nerva & Lucena and Mother & I went to the Empress theater.

The weather is cool & delightful I went to the Temple in the morning and spent the forenoon. Came home to dinner and spent some time reading, writing &c A good rain Storm in the afternoon was a great blessing.
I took Mother to a show at night. [page break]
11 July 1926 • Sunday
Home.
No conference appointments to-day My daughter Mamie went to the L.D.S. Hospital this early morning for confinement. Later I went to the hospital and Mamie returned with Clarence and me to our home and there spent the afternoon and the family took dinner with us. Mamie went home in the early evening and about 11:30 she was taken again to the hospital and at about 1:10 A.M. she gave birth to a baby boy.
My son LeGrand spoke at the 27th ward chapel in the evening and I and a number of my family members attended. After meeting members of the family came in and we served refreshments.
12 July 1926 • Monday
At 1:20 A.M. we received a phone call from Clarence at the LDS Hospital informing us that Mamie had given birth to a baby boy.
I arose at 5:30 A.M. and after having my usual morning calesthenics, cold bath shave &c, proceeded with my days work, happy in that the Lord blessed Mamie in her confinement & that her delivery was as normal as it was.
13 July 1926 • Tuesday
Visited my daughter Mamie at [page break] the hospital. She is getting along well. I assisted in setting apart a large company of missionaries and instructed them. I set apart six young sisters, four of whom for Hawaii & on to the Eastern & one to the Western States. Spent some time at the temple.
14 July 1926 • Wednesday
Mamie still improving
Weather very warm.
I performed three marriages.
The Presidency came to the temple with the plans I had submitted for a change in the arrangements of the Veils and decided to accept the plans & approve the change which will cost about $2,000.00

Warm still
Mamie is getting along well.
I spent some time at the Temple in the forenoon and in the afternoon Mother & I accompanied Joel & Georgina in a trip up American Fork Canyon and around back of Timpanogus Mt. and down Provo Canyon & home. We met Pres. Grant & party on the road. I am having tooth trouble and have spent some time during the past week in the Dentist’s chair.

I went to the Temple in the forenoon and did desk work, approved the purchase of a machine for the Recorder’s office at a cost of $574.75. [page break]

I took my Franklin car and accompanying me, my wife, my dau. Nerva & baby & her daughter Thelma & Estella R Lee and we drove up to community Camp in Cottonwood Canyon 23 miles from home. There my son George & family were camped. We ate dinner & supper there and returned home in the early evening, leaving before dark. Had a pleasant day. My teeth were giving me trouble & I consulted my son, a dentist, as to what I best do about them.

I suffered much with my teeth aching, and did not leave home all day.
19 July 1926 • Monday
I went to the Dentist, H. G. Smith, and had two teeth extracted and spent the remainder of the day at home nursing a sore, swollen and aching face.
20 July 1926 • Tuesday
I spent the forenoon at home and in the afternoon took in my car, my wife and daughters Ruby and Nina & & Nina’s baby & Aunt Annie Steed and went up to the Wasatch in Little Cottonwood Canyon an hour’s drive from home. This is the first time I have ever been to Wasatch since I was a young man when I accompanied my brother Stephen with a team and load of baled hay. The resort is to me quite attractive. [page break]

I spent about 2½ hours at the Franklin Service shop having my car repaired. Alice & I went to the Temple where I spent an hour or so. The cleaning and repairing &c is progressing.
With my son Joel and family, Mother & I went to Bingham where Mother & I had never been, and what we saw is wonderful. Spent the evening at home.
22 July 1926 • Thursday
I took mother down to Sugar House before going to council meeting at 10:00 A.M. At this meeting I received the appointment to attend Twin Falls Stake Conference July 31st & Aug. 1st where the Stake is to be divided. I am to go alone. Spent the evening at home. LeGrand & Ina called on us.

I had my teeth treated. Went to the Dentist Temple, sent for the Architect and decided upon a change to be made in the plans for the new veiling of the Temple. &c.
24 July 1926 • Saturday
Mother, Oliver & Marie Bush and I in my Franklin went on a trip to Park City, Coalville, Echo, Como, Morgan and home, a distance of 147 miles according to the speedometer. I drove all the way & the car behaved well. A pleasant day. [page break]
During the night I had two very pleasant dreams. First I had a visit from my mother and my sister Sarah and later saw my wife’s father Oliver L. Robinson. I also dreamed that I saw Richard R. Lyman and told him that I had seen his father and Pres. Grant. I must have seen them but I can not recall that fact.

I attended the morning services of the Liberty Stake Conference held in the Liberty Park.
I spent most of the afternoon at home reading &c. In the evening Alice & I called on Mamie and visited there a while. Our daughter Ruby is leaving for Cornish tomorrow. She has been with Mamie a week.
26 July 1926 • Monday
I went to the Temple in the morning. and spent an hour or so. Made preparations to go to Ogden & take Ruby to meet her husband. Mother & her Sisters Annie & Estella are to accompany me. Later We made the trip as expected and went on up to the wells at head of Ogden Canyon.
27 July 1926 • Tuesday
I spent most of the day at home. At 5:45 I went with Charles out to Sugar House to see an oil refining demonstration. [page break] Spent the evening at home.
28 July 1926 • Wednesday
I put up wires to trail vines from the front porch to the trees in front, one on each side of the walk. Assisted Wendle Gibbs to put up our radio ariel, cut lawn &c. Mother & I went down to Nerva’s and then to a show.

Attended weekly council meeting and attended to several important matters pertaining to the improvements being made at the Temple.
30 July 1926 • Friday
I went to Dr. Gill Richards & had an examination. He pronounced my blood pressure normal, said I had a good heart and circulation, good arteries & veins, my kidneys are in normal Condition. Advised to not eat much fatty foods or too much candy & sweets. Keep my weight down. My practice of having daily physical Bedroom exercise & daily cold bath was commended. My autoing is also helpful and should be continued.
I attended to a number of items of business making several trips down town. Our car is serving us well. Made ready to take 11:10 P.M. [page break] train for Shoshone thence to Twin Falls.
31 July 1926 • Saturday
Arrived at Shoshone at 7:50 A.M. in Company with Bros. Robinson and Hill & Sisters Cannon, Hart & Davis. We were met by Bros. Thompson & Lind with two cars and taken 56 miles to Twin Falls. We arrived a few minutes after meeting began I was just in time to make my programmed talk. This is an auxiliary Convention Conference.
I attended a meeting of the Stake Presidency at noon and attended afternoon convention meeting. At 5: P.M. Bro. Grant of the Stake Presidency took me and Sisters Hart & Davis in his Car about 30 miles from twin Falls where we saw thousand springs, Shoshone falls, Buhl &c.
In the evening I met the Stake Presidency and we decided upon the Bishopric for the consolidated Twin Falls ward, and with them selected the heads of all the ward organizations except the S. Schools. We decided to let the two schools be conducted at present or hereafter i.e. with the same offices & [2 words illegible] Made appointment to meet the Presidency at 8:30 tomorrow morning and the selected officers at 9:00 A.M.
I feel that the Lord blessed our labors of this day. May his name be praised forever.
