2 March 1925 • Monday
I received a letter from Mr. Charles Dennis of Galena, Mo, Route No. 2 accepting my offer to receive back the Ashurst property in settlement of what I am owing on the property. The original cost was $5000.00. Joel has 1/4 interest. We paid $2500 down and I gave my note for $2500. payable in five years interest at 6% per annum and gave a mortgage on the property to secure it.
We have paid the interest for four years amounting to $606. Have kept up the taxes on the land which amounts to about $240.00 and have paid the water assessments four years amounting to probably $425. We expended probably 600.00 on improving the land so that we have lost about 4000.00.
Allowing no income from water tax at $365. At this Joel loses about $1000 & I $3000. Today I have had deed made to the property and am registering deed, water certificate (18 shares) and abstract to Messrs Payne and Greenhalgh of Safford Arizona with the request [page break] that they make the turn with the Valley Bank of Safford where Mr. Dunic’s papers, my note &c are.
