St George. We left St. George about 6:00 A.M. Took dinner at Las Vegas, Nevada & stayed at night at Yarmo, 13 miles this side of Barstow. Slept in Camp house.

2 May 1927 • Monday

We drove to San Bernadino where we spent an hour or town & on to Pasadena where we spent the night in a camp.

3 May 1927 • Tuesday

We visited between Pasadena and Santa Monica, where we spen[t] the night at a camp.

4 May 1927 • Wednesday

We Visited Ocean Park, Venice, San Pedro and Long Beach and stayed at night between Long Beach and Los Angeles in a camp.

5 May 1927 • Thursday

We visited all day in Los Angeles and drove 25 miles out for evening camp.

6 May 1927 • Friday

We drove to Merced over the Ridge route a full days’ drive and stayed in a camp. [page break]

7 May 1927 • Saturday

Merced, Calif.

Our Company consisting of my wife & I, Oliver & Marie, & Ray in my Car and Geo. & Edith & Robert in his car went to the Yosemite Park and back a distance of about 180 miles and camped where we did the night before.

8 May 1927 • Sunday

Merced, Cal.

We called at Modesto on our way to San Francisco. A conference was in session. Elder [blank] was called out by Oliver. We visited San Jose, Paloalto & Stanford University and camped in the South edge of San Francisco at night.

9 May 1927 • Monday

San Francisco.

We did the town of San Francisco and stayed in a camp at night not far from where we camped the previous night.

10 May 1927 • Tuesday

San Francisco.

We left by ferry in the morning and visited Oakland. bathed at the Alameda resort, visited Berkly & back to Oakland. We drove to Martinez on the north arm of the Bay of San Francisco where we camped for the night.

11 May 1927 • Wednesday

We drove to Mineral on the northern route in the top of the mountains where we camped.

12 May 1927 • Thursday

We reached Reno about noon. Drove to Lovelock and had bad detour road.

13 May 1927 • Friday

We drove to Elko [page break] Nev., where we stayed the night in camp

14 May 1927 • Saturday

We drove from Elko home.

arriving in Salt Lake about 5 P.M. This morning I accidentally knocked my glasses off a shelf & broke both lenses. It cost me $21.00 to repair them with new lenses. Mothers Birthday anniversary Our trip was a success. <Called at Estellas and had supper.>

15 May. 1927 • Sunday

I am at home.

Visited Joel Grover at Hospital, John W. Tate at home, sick, Estella Lee, Nerva’s, Nina’s, took dinner at Mamies; administered to Estella Lee Willard Tate.

16 May 1927 • Monday

Attended to correspondence &c. Had a busy day. Had my car in the shop for cleaning, grooming &c. Took Mother, Spencer & Estella for a short side in the evening.

17 May 1927 • Tuesday

I was the Speaker at the Temple meeting. Attended to my duties at the Temple as usual.

In the evening Joel & Georgina took Mother & me for a short ride.

18 May 1927 • Wednesday

I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual.

In the evening with other members of my family, Mother & I went to the Wilkes Theater as guests of my son LeGrand in celebration of his marriage anniversary. [page break]

19 May 1927 • Thursday

I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual and attended the weekly Council meeting of the Presidency & the Twelve. I came to the Temple before 8: A.M. and left about 8: P.M. Mother & I called on Oliver & Mamie at their home.

20 May 1927 • Friday

I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual. My health has been excellent for a long time. The weather has been beautiful. Trees are laden with leaf. Last night and to-day we have had a splendid rain. The country is very beautiful.

21 May 1927 • Saturday

Stormy weather.

My health is good.

I took 8:15 A.M. train for Provo where I attended the Utah Stake Conference I spoke at both forenoon and afternoon services. The latter was used a graduation exercises for the Seminaries of Provo & Lincoln. 69 graduates, five of whom spoke to topics assigned and did very well.

After 4: o’clock we went to the Provo Seminary building and had dedicatory services and I offered the dedicatory prayer. Returned in the evening. I talked tithing 40 min. in A.M. meeting.

22 May 1927 • Sunday

I went to Provo by Electric car & attended Utah Stake Conference and spoke at both meetings. My Subject in the forenoon was, Marriage & divorce &c. In the afternoon it was the Gospel principles. I read what Dumalow & Mohl. Henry have to say [page break] Returning, I was met at the station by my wife, son Ray & daughters Ruby & Lucena Ruby having come from Cornish her home. We called at Ninas & Mamies & later were called upon other members of the family.

23 May 1927 • Monday

I spent part of the day at the temple attending to desk work &c Called on the First Presidency and with them and the Presiding Bishopric considered the matter of reseating the endowment rooms of the Temple. No decision was reached, when an adjournment was taken for dinner. I took Mother and Ruby down to Estella’s on 1011 8th Ave and from there to Sugar House. In the evening after super I took Geo & Edith & Mother & Ruby for a ride.

24 May 1927 • Tuesday

I went to the Temple as usual. Presided at a missionary meeting and blessed four people, assisting with the work. In the evening I took Mother and Ruby for a ride. They have been house cleaning.

25 May 1927 • Wednesday

I went to the Temple as usual & attended to my usual work there. I sealed 15 or 20 living couples.

Edwin S. Hinckley of Provo was the speaker in the Temple meeting Took Mother & Ruby to the Paramount & then returned to the Temple and did some sealing after the last company was through. Mother has been house cleaning the past two days. [page break]

26 May 1927 • Thursday

I went to the Temple as usual in the early morning. Attended weekly council meeting. Had a busy day. Mother & I left for home about 7:30. We called on J. W. Tate and I administered to him. We spent the rest of the evening at home.

27 May 1927 • Friday

Mother and I spent the day at the Temple with our usual work. We went before 8: A.M. and left the Temple after 8:00 P.M. About 630 went through in the two evening sessions.

28 May 1927 • Saturday

I took 8:15 A.M. train for Gunnison, where I was met at the Station by Pres. Allen Park and taken to the 2:30 P.M. opening session of the Gunnison Stake Conference.

I occupied about 40 min, Subject: Hope of Reward & Fear of Punishment as means of Incentive to righteousness. The evening meeting was for the Priesthood 28.4% being present. I occupied about 60 min. Subject: Vitalization of Priesthood quorums & members. The Ministry of the Church, present & future; Justification needed for efficiency.

I stayed at the Gubble Home while in Gunnison.

29 May 1927 • Sunday

Gunnison, Utah.

I attended and spoke at both forenoon and afternoon meetings. Subj: Eternity of the Marriage Covenant, Church [page break] discipline, word of wisdom tithing &c. Bro. John Knighton took me to Nephi where I got 6: P.M. train for home-

I was met at the Station by LeGrand & Ina Mother & Ray with a car.

30 May 1927 • Monday

Home.

I took Mother, Nerva & Geo. L, and Estella Lee out to Tooele where we decorated the graves of our children We also decorated graves here in the City Cemetery. I took Mother, Geo. L. & Nerva to a show in the evening.

31 May 1927 • Tuesday

My Son LeGrand was the Speaker at the Temple meeting. I attended the funeral of Marcell Widtsoe. Attended to Temple duties.

Spent the evening at home. Oliver & Mamie Called on us.

This day my son George talked with Mother & me about our Cemetery lots in Tooele. I have two full lots side by side both being surrounded by a nice Hedge fence. George desired title to the one lot in which he has two children buried. I told him that if he would keep up the up keep of both lots for 20 yr as I had done since their children were buried there he could have the one lot. He says he and Edith are inclined to want to buried in Tooele Cemetery rather than in Salt Lake cemetery. Mother & I are undecided. [page break]
