Are we lending encouragement to the enemy when we fought so manfully before coming here, Are we crucifying anew the Savior in the sense that his greatest suffering was of a mental charactr while in Gethsemane.

18 December 1921 • Sunday
Moroni.
I stayed at Bp. Bradley’s home. My cold blooming. Commenced to snow about 7 o’clock this morning. Several inches fell during the day. The attendance at this meeting according to count was 826.
Announcement had been made in the con[page break]ference yesterday that important business would be attended to in that meeting concerning the Moroni West Ward and all were invited to be present. I presented the business and in doing so stated that Bishop Orlando Bradley had tendered to the Stake Presidency his written resignation as Bishop of Moroni West Ward, that it had been carefully considered by the Stake Presidency and the High Council and had been accepted by them and that their action had been approved by the First Presidency. I called upon the people of Moroni West Ward to sustain that action. The vote was so light in the affirmative and so heavy in the negative that I requested the people of that ward to stand and I then put the question again. I think the negative vote was in the majority. I announced that by the action of the Stake Presidency and High Council in accepting of Bishop Bradley’s resignation; and the same receiving the approval of the First Presidency, that Bp. Bradley is released. It does not require a vote of the people but as a courtesy they were given an opportunity to approve the action which they had not done by majority vote. Counselors released also by release of Bp. I presented the new officers who were sustained with one opposing vote. Ephraim Nelson Bishop, Soren E Nielsen & John E. Jensen Counselors. I ordained & set them apart after meeting.
I spoke the last 30 min. Sub. Honor Parents. Recited. The members of the retiring Bishopric and the incoming Bishop spoke; also Pres. Andersen of the Stake Presidency. He explained as reasons for Bp. Bradley’s resignation that he is identified with the Sugar factory whose [page break] interests conflicted with the peoples’ interests and that he felt obliged to retain his position with that company; also that the Bishop had not been able to get missionaries as requested &c. Pres Anderson told the people that those who voted against the motion above mentioned did not love Bp. Bradly more nor did they support him better than those who voted in the affirmative. He assigned as one reason for the resignation that the people had not sustained him as they should.
At the 2 P.M. meeting the attendance was 892 or 11% of Stake Population and the house was filled. I was the concluding speaker and occupied about 35 minutes Subj: Thy will be done. Rebellion follows a determination to have one’s own way. Read from Rom 12: Moses 4: Abraham 3: Also, tithing, W. of W., How to receive ward teachers, Missionary work among outsiders. Advised that the Stake Presidency organize the Seventies so that they can carry on the work and their quorums get credit for what the members do. I set apart the newly sustained Stake Superintendent & Assistants in the Y.M.M.I.A. after meeting.
Returned to Mt. Pleasant with Pres Merz and others where I spent the night.
I had a cold when I left home and it has developed wonderfully since.
The Lord helped us and we had a good conference.

With other members of the family spent the evening at Mamies’ where we bid good bye to the old year 1921 and welcomed the New Year 1922.
The year 1921 has been a specially good year for me and my family.
Some Features.
I have been blessed in my apostolic duties. I was sustained Mar. 10th to succeed Pres. A. H. Lund, deceased, as President of the Salt Lake Temple and on Monday Mar. 14th I was set apart by President Grant assisted by his Counselors and Jos. Fielding Smith and Albert W. Davis were set apart as my assistants. I have been blessed in my calling there and have been the means of making a number of important changes at the temple.
Financially, I have been blessed in being able notwithstanding the hard and strenuous times, in disposing to good advantage <of> my Canyon land and my Arizona land which has relieved me of much anxiety. My Portland Cement Stock held by me for about 12 years paid its first dividend of 2% 3½ and the prospects are that it will continue to pay 7% the stipulated amount on the preferred stock and probably begin paying [page break] dividends soon on the Common stock.
There have been no deaths in the family this year.
My sons Geo & LeGrand have got into the Auto Business and I am assisting them and have accepted the Presidency of the Co. Taylor Richards Motor Co. We handle Fords. While we do not yet know how we are going to make it, we are hopeful and the next few months will reveal the true situation.
While many people are without employment all our folks have something to do. Our daughter Ruby graduated from the Nurses course of 3 years and has been nursing. This the last day of the year J. A. Hansen asked me for her hand in marriage.
Oliver graduated from the High School and commenced work at the University of U. George L and Nerva with their family moved to Inkom Idaho where they are engaged in the Mercantile business and Geo. L. has been made Bishop of that ward.
I am at peace with the Lord, with myself and with all men so far as I know. I should be happy and I believe I am.
I am expecting settlement [page break] on my Canadian lands soon which, when it comes, will enable me to meet my obligations at the bank for borrowed money with which to make repairs on my house a couple of years ago.
A grand son was born this year to my daughter Nina the 28th grand child.
Our daughter Edna married making the 9th marriage in our family.
Nina gave birth to a baby girl Nona and Lucena gave birth to a baby boy, Willard. Geo. & Edith adopted little 4 yr old Patricia Larson, so that our family is growing.
