Cooler to-day.
Mother & I went to the Temple in the early morning as usual-
This is “Labor Day”, a public Holliday, but we start out with good companies. 799 Endowed for during the day.
Toward evening I took my three daughters, Ruby Lucena & Nina to the golf course and gave them a game of 9 holes which they & I enjoyed. Mother & Estella visited other members of the family.
2 September 1930 • Tuesday
I attended committee meeting of members of the Twelve on D. & C. Extracts for New book at Dr Talmages office from 9: A.M. to 11:30 A.M. Elders D O McKay and Jos. Fielding Smith, the other members.
Spent several hours at the Temple. Spent some time at home, reading &c Spent the evening at home.
3 September 1930 • Wednesday
Mother & I went to the Temple in the early morning where we had a busy day.
I had my car greased and the oil changed. Mileage 6055.
Mother & I went out looking for suits & I bought two for $52.00. Selected the cloth & they are to be made to order. I gave a check in part payment, at John Driscoll Inc. 108 So. Main St.
4 September 1930 • Thursday
I attended a meeting of the Twelve at 9:00 A.M. and regular Council meeting at 10:00 A.M. to about 2: P.M. and then was busy at other work in the Temple. [page break] The lights went off in an electric storm and left us in darkness about 15 min.
5 September 1930 • Friday
I spent a busy day at the temple from 8:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.
I took Mother down to Mamie’s in Sugar House and gave Lynn & Ray a blessing each as they are to have their tonsils out tomorrow.
Mother took Alberta Gallacher and her mother to a show and George and I went to the Arena & Saw a wrestling match, complimentary tickets. We had complimentary tickets to the Russian Chorus in the Tabernacle which we gave to Sister Nerva.

I spent the day part time in the Temple & part at home.
7 September 1930 • Sunday
Pleasant day.
Attended 27th ward S. School and Fast meeting. I studied the D. & Cov. with a view to Committee work getting out a new book &c.
We had to dinner, Edna, Orin & Nina & children, Oliver & Marie, Ruby & ourselves.
We spent the evening at home.
8 September 1930 • Monday
Weather beautiful
We had a busy day at the Temple.
I met my sons Geo., Joel & Oliver in directors capacity, of Richards Motor Co. and after 6:30 went with my son George to inspect a home on 13th So bet. 10 & 9 East.
I returned to the temple and worked at my desk until Mother came through with the first Company. Then we went home, [page break]

Home.
Fine day.
I met with Elders D. O. McKay, Jos. F. Smith & Jas. Talmage in Committee on D. & C. new book, in forenoon. Worked at my desk in the afternoon. Wrote a four paged letter to my son Ray in Germany, &c.
10 September 1930 • Wednesday
I had a busy day at the Temple.
I attended to some business with the boys at Richards Motor Co. Office.
I am taking a house & lot on 13th So between 9 & 10th East, off their hands, by assuming a First mortgage of $1590.00 and reducing the amount of my investment from $3500. to 2600. or by the amount of $900. My acct is to be charged 100.00 which will make $2500.00 for the place. I to pay 1/3 the tax of 1930 which will be $25.00 when due.
11 September 1930 • Thursday
Beautiful weather.
I attended regular 9:00 A.M. and 10:00 A.M. meetings with the brethren. After luncheon the Twelve met again and were in session until after 3:00 P.M. Two committees of which I am the chairman, reported.
We had a busy day. In the evening Mother & I went down to Olliver’s home & he & I administered to Marie.
12 September 1930 • Friday
Home.
Fine weather.
I attended a meeting of the Twelve at 8:00 A.M. in Ch. Off. Bldg. Considered objections raised by [Chryopatrics?] to Y.M.M.I.A. Manual written by Dr Beely & Daynes Attended Temple meeting at 9:00 A.M.
Had a busy day at the Temple [page break]
I sent to my Sister Alice at Fielding, a suit of clothes to give to Farmer John, and wrote her these facts.
13 September 1930 • Saturday
I spent several hours at the Temple. Made ready and left for Ogden at 4:10 P.M. to attend North Weber Stake conference, first Session held in 3d Wd. I took Mother & Ruby with me and we staid all night at my daughter Edna’s. Elder Fred Taylor from N. Y. & I were the Speakers at the evening Priesthood meeting.
14 September 1930 • Sunday
Ogden-
Fine weather
I attended and spoke at both the forenoon and afternoon meetings of No. Weber Stake Con.
Spencer & Estella & their two children met us in Ogden. Estella & children returned with us to our home in the early evening.
15 September 1930 • Monday
I had a wakeful night last, no sleep after 2:00 A.M.
I cleaned my car before my bath. We turned the oil furnace fire on this morning for the first time this season.1
I attended to my duties at the Temple, as usual.
16 September 1930 • Tuesday
I played a game of golf with my daughter Nina, and spent part of the day in the Temple. Baptisms being done. [page break]
17 September 1930 • Wednesday
I spent the day at the Temple as usual. Set apart 8 missionaries.
We left the temple about 8:00 P.M. Went down to Sugar House and while Mother was having her hair wound I read the paper & went home about 9:30.
18 September 1930 • Thursday
Part of what I wrote for the 17th belongs to the 18th.
I attended a meeting of the Twelve at 9:00 A.M. Regular Council at 10:00 and spent the balance of the day at my desk until 8:00 P.M.
19 September 1930 • Friday
I went to the Temple as usual & after the 9: o’clock meeting my assistants & I met Bro & Sis Atwood & their Bishop & Stake President by appointment and spent 1½ hours going over Bro. & Sis. Atwoods case, they having been recently released from being Temple workers. We found no good reasons for recalling the release.
I called to see Bro. Hindley at the St. Mark’s Holy Cross Hospital.
Sister Sears was taken sick and I took her home in my car. Bro. Wm C Winder presented us with a box of nice pears.
20 September 1930 • Saturday
I played a game of golf in the morning with my daughter Nina.
Mother & I left for Tremonton in our car at 11:30 A.M. We called at Edna’s in Ogden & took her to dinner at Dicks Restaurant. We arrived in Tremonton [page break] at about 3:00 P.M. and went with Spencer & Estella to the Fair & Rodeo close by.
21 September 1930 • Sunday
Mother & I left Tremonton about 11:30 A.M. and called and visited with our daughter Edna for about ½ hour and then on to Kaysville Tabernacle where we attended the funeral Services of Sister Lizzie Watt. I was one of the Speakers and occupied about a half hour. We came on to S.L. and took supper at Keeley’s. We attended Belvedere Ward Formal opening of their ward house. President Grant had been announced to Speak, but he was not present & I by appointment of Pres Clawson attended and spoke 25 min. at conclusion.
Oliver & Marie called later in the evening.
Commencing about 10:30 P.M. it rained during the night. Heavy thunder.

Stormy.
Mother & I went to the Temple in the morning as usual, where we had a busy.
23 September 1930 • Tuesday
Stormy.
My Son George & wife, My wife & I in his Car took Mr James Foggo for an outing they having come from Liverpool, England on a visit to Zion & friends here. We went up Parley’s Canyon to Park City, thence to Heber & Midway Hot Pots & bathing resort. We had a bath all around and a special chicken dinner at my expense. We had a busy day at the Temple as usual.
25 September 1930 • Thursday
I attended my usual Thursday meetings, concluding about 2:30 P.M. Did some work at my desk &c and in the evening I went through the Temple for Will Gill, assisted at the veil &c.
26 September 1930 • Friday
Mother & I went to the Temple as usual. I offered the open prayer in the Temple meeting & presided. Wm C Clair, speaker. I set apart Samuel H. Williams a temple worker. Jos. Christensen went with me to the Holy Cross Hospital where we administered to Bro Hindley one of our Temple workers. We went to the home of Frank Snow to See him, hearing of his illness, but learned that he had been taken to the County Hospital-
Edna came down from Ogden & Mother went shopping with her.
27 September 1930 • Saturday
Fine weather.
I spent some time at the Richards Motor Co. office and also with Albert Chasten looking over the house on 13 So, bet. 9 & 10 E. with a view to painting it inside & out and fix up the floors &c.
I attended to Some work at the Temple. I took 5:55 P.M. train for Delta to attended Deseret Stake Conference, arrived after 11:00 P.M. & was met by Edward L. Lyman of the Stake Presidency and taken in auto to his home where I spent the night. [page break]
28 September 1930 • Sunday
Delta, Utah.
I attended a 9:00 A.M. meeting of the Priesthood & officers of the Stake, a 10:00 A.M. & 2:00 P.M. meetings of the Conference and spoke at each. I ordained & Set apart the Bishoprics of the Delta 1st ward and the Deseret ward, another Counselor in the Sugarville ward, and ordained Sam’l Western a Patriarch.
I took 5:00 P.M. train for home, arriving in Salt Lake at 9:00 P.M.
29 September 1930 • Monday
I spent the day at the temple from 8:45 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.
Attended a directors meeting at my office in the Annex at 3:00 P.M.
<Went through the Temple at night.>
30 September 1930 • Tuesday
Quarterly Meeting.
I had painters bidding on the painting of the property at 978 E 13 So.
Did some work at the Temple &c.
