1 July 1928 • Sunday
I spent the day in bed nursing my sciatica. Last evening I had Dr Clayton, an Osteopath, treat me at my home. I do not detect any beneficial results.
2 July 1928 • Monday
Mother & I went to the Temple & with the Recorder, Janitor & Painter, we looked the Temple over and decided what we would do in the way of cleaning, painting &c during the vacation or closing. I attended to some business at the Bk. We visited my daughter Sarah in her new home 2304 So. 7th East. We also called on Elder Wm A Morton & at his request I gave him a blessing. We went out to Salt Air on 6:30 P.M. train and took supper with the night workers of the Temple. Returned leaving [page break] there at 8:45 P.M. I suffered much in making these rounds.

I kept my bed all day.
I had two adjustments by the chiropractic Wm Sear.
4 July 1928 • Wednesday
My treatment of yesterday seemed to do me no good.
I am woefully lame to-day. Ray went to Como Springs for the day and Mother & I remained at home.
We rode out with Geo & Edith for abt a half hour towards evening. I suffered as a consequence.
5 July 1928 • Thursday
I was laid up with my sciatica, Most of the day in bed.
6 July 1928 • Friday
Same as day previous. No better of my lameness.
7 July 1928 • Saturday
No perceptible change in my condition— I suffer day & night and am confined to the house, most of the time in bed.
8 July 1928 • Sunday
My sciatica is about as usual I can do but little besides nursing myself. Am reading the Biography of Wilford Woodruff and find it both interesting and inspiring.
9 July 1928 • Monday
My conditions about the Same. I take a hot bath each morning & [page break] while the pours are opened I apply various Kinds of medicines calculated to allay the pain.
10 July 1928 • Tuesday
My condition unchanged. I get the most relief lying on my back.
11 July 1928 • Wednesday
Mother & I went to the Temple and I solemnized the marriage of Sister McGras’ Son & his sweetheart by special arrangements, both having had their endowments. We called at Taylor Motor Co. office & saw the new Model 65 Chrysler car. <Pres. G A Smith & M. J. Ballard called.>
12 July 1928 • Thursday
I was excused from Council meeting on account of sciatica. Spent the day at home nursing my trouble. In the early evening I had a Swedish Massagist came and give me a treatment. Using olive oil freely, he massaged me vigorously for about an hour, the first treatment of a series he expects to give. He says it will surely cure my trouble.
13 July 1928 • Friday
Mother & I went to the Temple at noon and I solemnized two marriages, one a Miss Jepperson, one of our typists. From there we went up to Lucena’s & had dinner with her & Estella who is down from Tremonton. Later we went and saw Sarah it being her 39th birthday anniversary [page break] In the evening I had my 2nd massage treatment.
14 July 1928 • Saturday
As I lay on my back I wrote up my journal from July 7th. I received my daily massage treatment by Dr.
15 July 1928 • Sunday
Edna came from Ogden in the morning and on invitation of our dau. Nina, Mother & I, Edna & Ray & his girl, Alberta Gallagher went to Sugar House & took dinner with her & family. I think there is slight change in my Sciatica for the better. No treatment to-day.
16 July 1928 • Monday
I spent the entire day and evening at home nursing my lameness. Had a massage treatment before retiring at night.
17 July 1928 • Tuesday
I arose at 6: A.M. heated water and had a bath, a shave &c and dressed for the day. My condition: but little, if any, improved. Took Mother in my car to Temple & got the mail Took her to Sugar House & got Nina & children & brought home with us. I had massage treatment in the evening.
18 July 1928 • Wednesday
I think I am better of my lameness. I went to the Temple and attended to some mail & correspondence. Took Mother for a short ride.
Had massage. [page break]
19 July 1928 • Thursday
My lameness somewhat improved. I took Mother and three other Temple Workers out to 2695 So. 13th East to a party & dinner at 1 P.M. and brought them home later. Went to the Temple for a while. Received my daily massage. Am reading the Life of W. Woodruff.
20 July 1928 • Friday
Conditions unchanged.
Pres. Grant called me over the phone and presented a question pertaining to sealing which we discussed at some length.
21 July 1928 • Saturday
I went to the Temple for a while. Took Mother in car down town to do shopping &c.
22 July 1928 • Sunday
I stayed in the house all day until toward evening, when Mamie & Clarence Called and took Mother & me for a ride. We were out about an hour.
My lameness somewhat improved.
23 July 1928 • Monday
I had some upholstering repairs made on the upholstering of my Franklin car.
Mother and I took our daughter Nerva and Geo L. with us to Ogden after Edna who returned with us. We returned home about 9: P.M. [page break]
24 July 1928 • Tuesday
Mother, Edna & I went in our Franklin up City Creek Canyon and took dinner with Lucena & Mamie and their families. Later came down and went down to Sarah’s and she went with Mother and Edna to the Capitol & took them to and met them after & brought them home. Edna left for Ogden about [6 P.M.?] With Lucena & Rega & Mother & I took Sarah home and took supper with them.
25 July 1928 • Wednesday
I took mother down town to go to a show with her sisters Maria & Estella. I had some repairs made on my car upholstery & did some running about Spent some time at the Temple.
My sciatica is not so severe as it has been.
26 July 1928 • Thursday
I spent the day at home, did work on the lawn weeding &c
I feel better of my lameness to-day.
27 July 1928 • Friday
About same as yesterday In the evening I phoned Ruby at Cornish & Spencer Taylor at Tremonton
28 July 1928 • Saturday
Mother, Sarah & her children, Alice & Ma & I left in my Franklin Car for Cornish at 9: A.M. and arrived there at 1:00 P.M. We received a generous welcome from Jack & Ruby; and remained there until Monday 3: P.M. [page break]
30 July 1928 • Monday
We left Cornish about 3 P.M. and went via Clarkston to Fielding 1 hr 10 min drive and spent 50 min with my Sister Alice who was alone and well. We drove on 20 min. to Tremonton & spent the night with Spencer and Estella.
31 July 1928 • Tuesday
We left Tremonton about 7:30 A.M. Called at Edna’s in Ogden and took her to work on our way home. Took Sarah & Children home to 2304 So. 7th East, thence called on Mamie & Nerva. We went to the Temple and attended to some desk work, Thence to Sugar House & attended the funeral services of sister [Naumen?] I spoke briefly. Mother and I rode out with Joel & George in a Graham Page car to demonstrate it.
We have cancelled our contract with Elliot Taylor of Taylor Motor Co for the handling of the Plymouth Car, and we are still trying to get the Distributor ship for its Desota in Salt Lake. We are also considering the Graham Page Car with Mr. Blair.
