I went back over my papers and found more than 30 sheets of 20 names each of males for whom baptismal work had been done and now those lists can be used in administering endowments. The boys of the family are [page break] coming to our assistance with their means and the work is going forward.
I filed two lists of 20 names each of males at the temple to-day for baptisms tomorrw.

In the evening I took Alice to the Show and later took train leaving Salt Lake at 11:55 P.M. for Lund, thence to Cedar thence to Parowan to attend Parowan Stake Conference.
19 March 1920 • Friday
On Train.
Am well.
I arrived at Lund about 10 A.M. and left on Auto Stage at 11 A.M. for Cedar, 35 miles distant. The roads were muddy and rutted but we went through safely and arrived about 2:30 P.M. Stake President Henry W. Leavit [page break] meet me at the stage terminus and I accompanied him to his home which was made my home while I was in Cedar.
On the stage were seven other men and much profanity. I protested and it had the effect of cutting most of it out.
After dinner I went with some of the leading brethren and looked over ground on which the people of Cedar are going to build a hotel. A part of the ground belonged to the Church and I understand that the Church is letting the Hotel Co. have their land at what they have to pay for land adjoining. Now the Stake Presidency and others think they should have a building for the Stake Presidency and the High Council and for the bishops of the wards in Cedar also to answer as a bureau of information and are all united on a piece of grond three rods frontage road & the Hotel property on the South. I told the brethren I thought the Church would be willing to pay what the Hotel People are to pay the Church for what they get from the Church. Any excess of cost to be met by the hotel Co.
The City desires to secure the property owned by the Church known as the tithing lot, no [page break] longer needed for that purpose. They want to use it in connection with a City park as a camping ground for autoists. The property is about 16 x 20 rods and faces on Main St.
I attended a meeting of the Stake Presidency for about 1½ hours in the evening and gave them much instruction per taining to their official duties. A profitable meeting.

Am well Fine day.
My daughter-in-law Edith was this day taken ill and threatened with misscarriage, she being about 3 mo. along.
I left Cedar for Parowan to attend Conference in the morning with Pres. Lunt & wife and the two counselors, Myron D Higbee and Frank B Thorley the latter driving. The steering rod broke when we were near a culvert and we narrowly escaped what might have been a very serious accident.
I attended the Conference meetings at 10 A.M. and 2 P.M. and a stake Priesthood meeting in the evening and spoke at all the meetings and was much blessed in so doing. I also attended a meeting of the High Council. While in meeting in Cedar yesterday evening I set apart Frank B Thorley 2nd Counselor [page break] to President Henry W. Lunt in the Stake presidency after ordaning him a High Priest.
I stayed at former President L Marsdens’ home while in Parowan. He and I administered to a Sister Maltuson.
A good full day.
21 March 1920 • Sunday
Parowan.
Before going to the morning meeting Bro Marsden, Pres. Higbee and I went in Auto about a mile or more to the home of a grand daughter of Geo. A. Smith and administered to her son who had Pneumonia. I attended and spoke at the 10 A.M. and 2 P.M. meetings which were well attended by attentive listeners. The Choir under the direction of Elder Durham was a special feature. There were present in choir Saturday 29 females and 16 males and on Sunday 50 females and about 30 males. I assisted others in administering to a sister Beatby between meetings.
I had a talk with Morgan Richards a patriarch whose name had been dropped from the list of Stake authorities because he would not or had not worked in his calling and persuaded him to commence his work he consented to do so and made that known in the con[page break]ference and his name was reinstated.
With the Stake Presidency, I returned to Cedar for evening meeting where the East Ward bishopric was reorganized, the old bishop having moved out of the ward. He was set apart a high counselor by me. Francis Parsons Webster was sustained and by me set apart High Priest and Bishop.
I addressed this meeting. I spoke on the calling & mission of the Prophet Joseph.
Some of the subjects which received my attention in Conference were: Profanity, Tithing, Sacrifice, Service. No resignations justifiable Bps. should see that young people are informed as to qualifications necessary to receive or be promoted in the priesthood, attend temple &c. before the come to ask for such blessings. Have them on probation.
Returning from Parowan to Cedar we ran short of gas and were stranded for about an hour in a cold wind and rain.
22 March 1920 • Monday
Cedar City.
I had a conversation with former Stake President Uriah P. Jones now a patriarch, he being in a similar condition to that of Morgan Richards. His name having been dropped. H desired some time to think it over. He said he did not blame [page break] any one for dropping his name but that he thought that it was not done in the right way as he had given some blessings and had not been consulted in the matter.
I left Cedar at 12:15 P.M. on Auto Stage for Lund. The roads were muddy and rutted but we got through in three hours.
I got 6:17 P.M. train about 9 P.M. for home. I met Pres Roberts and Frank Lee on train. The former returning from Moapa Stake.

She now seems to be getting along well. The children are at our home and Edith is to be removed to Nina’s home today, all being favorable. I got to my office about 10 A.M. A stormy day.
At 2 P.M. I attended a missionary meeting and assisted in setting apart missionaries. I attended two committee meeting. In the evening Mother and I went down to Nina’s with George to see Edith. Ruby, Ray, Josephine [page break] and Franklin accompanied us, after which we took Ruby to the hospital. I received to-day letters from Pres.
