Meeting of the Twelve, the Seventy & mission Presidents, all day after 9:30. Attended 9:00 A.M. Temple meeting.

2 October 1930 • Thursday

Attended the usual 9 & 10 o’clock Council meetings in the Temple.

3 October 1930 • Friday

General Conference meetings & Reception tendered by the Presidency in the evening. Good meetings [page break]

4 October 1930 • Saturday

I was one of the Speakers in the forenoon meeting Occupied about 18 min. with good liberty. Attended the two Con. meetings and the Gen. Priesthood meeting in the evening.

5 October 1930 • Sunday

I attended forenoon & afternoon meetings of Conference. LeGrand & Ina & family left for Glendale, Cal. at 7:30 P.M.

6 October 1930 • Monday

Marie’s Baby was born. <abt 4 P.M.>

I attended to my duties at the temple as usual and went through the Temple at night. Visited Bros. Bland & Hindley at H.C. Hospital & blessed them.

7 October 1930 • Tuesday

We had our daughters except Edna to dinner. I spent some time with them. Mother & I called on Oliver & Marie & Saw their new babe.

8 October 1930 • Wednesday

I spoke at Temple Meeting.

Spent a busy day at the Temple and went through the Temple at night. Attended Richards Sir name association at 4: P.M.

9 October 1930 • Thursday

Attended the regular meetings of Thursday which means, 9:00 A.M. and 10:00 A.M. Council meetings in the Temple. Attended to the sealings of living &c and in the evening went through the Temple for the dead.

10 October 1930 • Friday

Am well.

I attended to my duties at the [page break] Temple as usual. Bro. Christensen & I went up to Joseph E. Wilsons Home on Center Street and administered [to] him. His Condition is precarious.

In the afternoon Mother & I went to the State Fair where we spent about an hour.

I took Rega and Geo L. out to 13th So. N. 978 E. to see a garage and decide how we would have it fixed up. I authorized them to order the material and proceed to do the work.

In the later evening my Son George & I went to the wrestling match at the McCullough Arena on complimentary ticket.

11 October 1930 • Saturday

I took 7:10 A.M. train for St Anthony and arrived there at 5:00 P.M.

Attended and addressed a mixed Congregation in Priesthood Conference. Had good liberty. I recommended that the High Priests of the stake be given the work of Genealogy & temple work to do &c, 7:30 P.M.

12 October 1930 • Sunday

St Anthony. Idaho

I attended a meeting with the Stake Presidency at 9:00 A.M. and Priesthood Conference meeting at 10:00 and 2:00 o’clock I spoke at both meetings and had good liberty & satisfaction. I took train for home at 5:00 P.M.

13 October 1930 • Monday

Arrived in Salt Lake at 7:15 A.M.

Attended 9:00 A.M. Temple meeting & had a busy day at the Temple.

I wrote to my son LeGrand in California.

Went through the Temple at night. [page break]

14 October 1930 • Tuesday

Beautiful day.

I paid interest on my note and mortgage on home of $2750 and paid $500. on principal. I spent four or five hours at my desk at the Temple.

Had my Car washed & greased &c.

Attended RM Co Director’s meeting at my home at 4:00 P.M.

15 October 1930 • Wednesday

Weather turned colder.

I spent a busy day at the Temple and went through for John Longstroth in the 5 o’clock session.

16 October 1930 • Thursday

Cold & clear.

I went to the Temple as usual.

Attended 9: A.M. meeting of the Twelve, and 10:00 A.M. meeting of the Presidency and the Twelve. Attended to the living sealings as usual. Attended to correspondence & other desk work, and in the evening, Mother & I went through the Temple. President Grant and a number of his family went through. The President remarked to me, referring to a suggestion he made in our council meeting a few weeks ago that others of the General Authorities should go through occasionally if not regularly, that with the other brethren, his suggestion didn’t soak in very fast.

17 October 1930 • Friday

Mother & I went to the Temple to the morning meeting and continued in service during the day. We went through the Temple at night.

18 October 1930 • Saturday

All usually well.

I spent several hours at the Temple [page break] with my auto and my wife, my Son George & Edith his wife accompanying me. I left Salt Lake @ 2:30 P.M. for Redmond, No. Sevier Stake. We arrived there in time for the evening meeting. I occupied about 45 minutes with much liberty.

19 October 1930 • Sunday

Redmond, Utah.

Am well, Fine day.

I attended a 9 o’clock meeting of the Stake Presidency and gave them instructions. I also occupied about 45 minutes in each of the public sessions with good freedom of thought & speech. After meeting we returned in my car arriving home at 9: P.M. Distance there & Return 300 miles.

20 October 1930 • Monday

Mother & I went to the Temple in the morning as usual, where we spent a busy day. I went through at night.

21 October 1930 • Tuesday

Beautiful weather.

I went to Ogden to attend to some Committee work with Elder D O McKay & the Ogden Stake Presidency. I took my car & Mother & Ruby went along. They visited with Edna while I was in committee, I took Mother, Ruby & Edna to dinner & then leaving Ogden at 1:00 P.M. Mother, Ruby & I went to Tremonton, 40 miles, and visited with Estella & family for about 2 hrs then went home. Left Tremonton at 4:20 P.M. Arrived in S.L. @ about 7:00 P.M.

22 October 1930 • Wednesday

Mother & I went to the Temple in the morning as usual, where we [page break] spent a busy day. Went through the Temple at night.

23 October 1930 • Thursday

Attended regular Thursday meetings. Attended to my other duties at the Temple and went through at night.

24 October 1930 • Friday

I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual and in the evening took train for Twin Falls.

25 October 1930 • Saturday

Arrived in Twin Falls at noon and was met by Jesse W. Richins of the Stake Presidency who took me to his home. Later I had a conference with Pres. Kirkman and Pres. Richins, Pres Guest was absent from the City. We considered the advisability of effecting a reorganization of the Twin Falls Stake Presidency. Such action was sanctioned by both the brethren. I proceeded along these lines and arranged a High Council Meeting to be held after the regular evening meeting. At that meeting were the High Councilmen Bishops, Pres. of the H. Priests Quorum & Patriarch. They approved the effecting of a reorganization and on slip of paper expressed their judgment as to the best man for the President. I took these slips home with me and considered & tabulated them which showed that Jesse W. Richins was mentioned for President more than any other, Bp. Hunt of Twin Falls next and Clifford Toliman was mentioned more than any other, but only once as President. I spoke at Regular Session.

26 October 1930 • Sunday

Twin Falls. Idaho

I met the H. Council at 9: A.M. and Presented to them my recommendations & nomination of [page break] Jesse W. Richins for Stake President, and he was accepted without dissenting vote. Then He selected his counselors, the men mentioned most by the council the night before & so on every thing worked out smoothly.

I ordained & Set apart the New Presidency, the Patriarch, Pres. Kirkman, the Bishopric of Twin Falls ward, & a High Counselor, & ward clerk. I had rather strenuous time but am pleased and thankful to the Lord that things went off so smoothly.

I got train at 5:05 P.M. for home.

27 October 1930 • Monday

Arrived in Salt Lake from Twin Falls at 7:15 A.M. Went home & got my car and my wife and returned to the Temple, where I spent a busy day, and we went through at night.

28 October 1930 • Tuesday

I met Pres. Clawson & Geo. A. Smith in Committee on Stake Divisions. Played golf with Edith & Nina. Saw Pres. Grant on the course.

Called on the Presidency with an item of business &c. Baptizing at the Temple

29 October 1930 • Wednesday

Married a couple at 8:30 A.M. Attended morning meeting at the Temple as usual. Spoke at the Funeral Services of Joseph E. Wilson in Capitol Hill Ward. Attended to the sealing of the living which made me 20 min after time getting to the funeral services. I am sure the Lord helped me, may his name be praised for ever.

I went through the Temple at night.

Spencer, Estella & children came home for today Estella is staying with us for a few days. (Follows) [page break]

30 October 1930 • Thursday

I performed a marriage for D. Evans at 8:30 A.M. Attended regular meetings with the Presidency & the Twelve.

Sent $40. to Ray. Attended to other business Had a busy day at the Temple and went through for Thos. Langstaff at night.

Estella & Spencer came from Tremonton & Estella is going to stay with us a while. She is having some kidney trouble.

31 October 1930 • Friday

I paid Albert V. Chasten in full for painting & papering house & garage at 978 East, 13th So. St.

Attended to my duties at the Temple as usual, and went through the Temple in the evening for Thos. [blank]

My Son & I went to the wrestling match after I got out of the Temple.
