I arrived in Boise at 11:53 A.M. and was met at the Station by Pres. Clarence T. Ward. We went direct to the home of Geo. W. Lewis of the Stake Pres. who has been sick for Seven weeks. We administered to him. His condition is quite serious.
I spoke at the 2: P.M. con. meeting and at a social in the evening. Stayed at Pres. Ward’s home.
2 December 1928 • Sunday
Am sniffling with a running nose.
I spoke at both forenoon and afternoon meeting. Administered to three people and ordained three High Priests and one Seventy.
I took 7:10 P.M. train for home.
3 December 1928 • Monday
Arrived in Salt Lake from Boise at 8:00 P.M. and went direct to the Temple. I attended to sealings & work at the desk in the Temple. Outside the Temple I got settlement for my Franklin Car 300. note & $50. Cash. I paid all but $200. on my DeSoto Delux Car which $200. I am to pay at the end of this month. I loaned my Son George $75.00 without note & no time stated. Mother & I left the Temple at about 7:00 P.M. and spent the evening at home. Stormy day.
4 December 1928 • Tuesday
Clear & cold.
I washed my car and took Mother down town shopping. I went to the Temple [page break] answered correspondence, paid bills by ck. &c. Later took Mother down to Nervas, and visited Uncle Willard & Aunt Lacey R., Took Hugh & Sarah for a short auto ride. Hugh has been laid up with grip or Flu for some days. I called on and administered to My Sister Nerva, Sister Campbell, Bp. John Wills & wife. Spent the evening at home.
5 December 1928 • Wednesday
A beautiful day.
Mother and I went to the Temple in the early morning as usual. I played a game of golf with my son George and made the record of 49 strokes. It required one hour, fifteen minutes. Attended my circle meeting in the evening. Mother & I left the temple for home about 8:30 P.M.
6 December 1928 • Thursday
Cold clowdy day.
Mother & I went to the Temple as usual in the early morning. I made my arrangements to leave on the 9:10 train for San Luis Stake via U.P. & Denver. Left the Temple for home about 6:30 P.M. No council meeting to-day.
7 December 1928 • Friday
Am well.
Weather cold.
I left Salt Lake last night at 9:10 o’clock on U.P. train, and arrived in Denver at 4:45 P.M. I remained in the Ry Station until train time and left for Almosa on train D. & R.G. Ry 7:20 P.M.
8 December 1928 • Saturday
Arrived at Ramus at 8:10 A.M. I was met by Pres. Braidy of the [page break] Stake Presidency of San Luis Stake and was taken to his home in Manasseh where I made my story while in Manasseh where the Priesthood Convention Conference was being held. I attended the two Convention sessions & a social in the evening and spoke at each. I took supper with a Bro. & Sister Kimball. He is Seminary Teacher She is a grand daughter of Dassion Cappin, daughter of Lottie Chappin. I did considerable consultation with the Stake Presidency and the Presidents of Seventy.

Cold day.
I spoke at both forenoon and afternoon meetings, and set apart several people and administered to two people. I took 6:20 train for home via Denver.
10 December 1928 • Monday
On train.
Am well.
I arrived in Denver at 8:15 A.M. and remained in the Ry. waiting room until time to take 1:45 P.M. train for home via. UP Ry. On train and while in waiting I read the Book of Poems by Curtis, Temples am’g the Hills or some title similar and several of Bro J. E. Talmage’s Radio Addresses.

Arrived in Salt Lake at 7:35 A.M. I attended special meeting of the Presidency & Twelve at Pres.’ office. I attended a missionary meeting and I set apart twelve missionaries. I did some work at the Temple and at home did writing of letters &c [page break]

Mother & I attended the Temple meeting as usual and spent a busy day at the Temple returning home after my prayer circle meeting in the evening. Attended a directors meeting of the Richards Motor Co at 8 P.M.
I finished paying for my Delux DeSoto Car to-day with a check of $200.
13 December 1928 • Thursday
Am well.
Attended Temple meeting in the morning 8:30.
Met with the Twelve at Temple 9 to 10 o’clock, and was with the Twelve & Presidency in Council & Prayer meeting from 10: A.M. to about 8 P.M.
Attended to desk work &c. Had a busy day.

I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual, met with the Presidency by request &c
15 December 1928 • Saturday
I took SL & Utah Electric train 8:15 A.M. to Payson where I attended Nebo Stake Conference Convention and Priesthood meetings I spoke at both forenoon and afternoon meetings and took 5:15 P.M. train for home.
16 December 1928 • Sunday
Stormy, snow.
I took Electric cars to Payson where I attended & Spoke at forenoon meeting and administered to Pres Taylor’s 21 yr old boy John. I took auto with a Brother Bigler to Mapleton where at 1:00 P.M. I attended the funeral Services of Bro. Edwin Marion Snow and was one of the speakers, this by request of the First Presidency. After the services I returned [page break] home via Electric & Spent the evening at home. Am well. Weather cold at night.

Mother & I went to the Temple as usual in the morning. In the afternoon I took her and her sister Maria Clark down to Sugar House where they made some Christmas purchases. Returning to the Temple we remained until about 7: P.M. after the work was well under way.

Mother & I went to the temple as usual
I took my car to the shop for greasing. Attended a committee meeting with Elder Geo. Albert Smith & Jos. Fielding Smith and the Presidency of Liberty Stake in the morning. In the afternoon we met with the Presidency of the Granite Stake, we having been appointed to investigate the proposal to organize a new Stake on the East bench. We decided finally to recommend to the Presidency & Twelve that any such proposed diversion & organization be postponed for a year or two until contemplated changes be made, such as the removal of the Presidency &c. I attended to the sealing and other work at the temple. Sister Richards & I left the Temple for home Spent the evening at home.
19 December 1928 • Wednesday
Mother & I attended to our work at the Temple as usual. We put in 12 hours at the Temple.
We are distributing to all the temple workers and employees a christmas present of $10.00 each. It requires 299 presents. We are having exceedingly cold weather with snow on the ground. Everything frozen up. [page break]

All well. Weather very cold, near zero.
Mother & I went to the Temple in the early morning as usual. After the Temple meeting of 8:30 A.M. I attended the weekly Council meeting from 10: A.M. to 1:00 P.M. including luncheon. Spent the day and evening at the temple until after 7: P.M. Had the Electrician at work in our home until after 11 P.M. and I took him home after.

Cold spell continues
Mothers & I put in a long day at the Temple leaving for home about 9 P.M. This is the last day of endowment work before the closing. We have a vacation until Monday Jan 7th All well.
22 December 1928 • Saturday
Shortest day of the year. Cold weather & ground covered with snow. I sealed two couples at the Temple and spent some time at my desk. Attended to important matters at the temple among those recommended to Bp Cannon that we dispense with the grass platt between the annex and temple to avoid the water blisters in the walls of the main hall.
I authorized the painters to continue their painting. They have painted the two west stair ways in towers @ $166.00 each & I have authorized the painting of the East tower. They are painting them from the Seventh floor to the basement, one heavy coat on the ceiling & walls.
Mother & I took [Azms Lady?] home to Sarahs & we visited there a while thence to Mamie’s & Returning home about 8: P.M. we found Spencer & Estella & Jack & Ruby came in [page break] after we reached home They are sleeping with us until after Christmas.
23 December 1928 • Sunday
At home and all well.
Weather foggy and cold.
I attended the funeral Services of Aunt Mary Richards, wife of Dr. Heber John, held in the 18th ward and was one of the Speakers, Stephen L. Richards was the other.
I was the principal speaker in the 27th ward at night. Elder Naville, a recently returned missionary occupied about 5 min. Mother & I went over to LeGrands after meeting and spent about two hours & took supper with them.
Jack & Ruby & Spencer & Estella are staying with us.
24 December 1928 • Monday
I spent most of the day shopping for Christmas and assisting others with the shopping, and otherwise preparing for Christmas. Retired at midnight.
25 December 1928 • Tuesday
Christmas
Cold weather but somewhat broken
Most of the streets are ice covered. We arose between 6: & 7: A.M.
There were with us all night, Jack & Ruby, Spencer & Estella & baby and Edna, Oliver & Marie came up from their home and was Seen when we got up.
We had a good Christmas & many nice presents. We had to dinner [page break] These, excepting Oliver & Marie, were with us at dinner and George & Edith & family and Alberta Gallagher in addition. Mother & I visited the homes of all our married children during the day & evening.
26 December 1928 • Wednesday
All well. Fog continues.
Jack & Ruby & Spencer & Estella left for home after a pleasant visit. I took Mother, her Sisters Maria & Annie in my Car down to the Victory Theater where they formed a part of a party at the couture of Sister Bertha Teasdale. I spent 2½ hrs at the Temple and then met Mother & her sisters Maria, Annie & Estella and Sister Teasdale at the Theater and took them home. Mother, Ray & I took supper at Ediths where we spent the evening. Joel & family were there.

All well. Weather moderate.
Spent the evening with other members of the family at Nerva’s
I took Mother and Sister Maria Clark & my sister Maria from their homes up to Sister Perry’s 333 J St. and when through, I took them home. I spent most of the day at home studying &c
28 December 1928 • Friday
My son George & I played a game of golf and later we with LeGrand & Ray played again.
Geo & I went shopping and I bought a game of Indoor golf putting. [page break]
We had all of Nerva’s family & Hugh & Sarah and their 3 children to supper at our home, serving turkey. I took two loads home, after 11: P.M. when we got through.

I went to the Temple in the morning. Attended to desk work &c. and in the afternoon & evening went to a show with Sister Richards.
30 December 1928 • Sunday
Am well
Some fresh snow on the ground.
I spent the forenoon at home studying Gospel subjects. Attended Tabernacle Services. Hugh J cannon was the Speaker. I offered the opening prayer. Pres. Clawson presided. Mother, Ray, & Alberta, Spencer & Estella and I took dinner with Oliver & Marie after 4: P.M. Mother & I attended 27th ward meeting in the evening, Bro. R. R. Lyman was the speaker. After meeting we called at Lucena’s & visited an hour or two. Nina’s baby Maryland who carried a temperature of about 104° all day yesterday is better to-day. Others well

All usually well—
A Stormy morning. I arose early, bathed, Shaved, took usual exercise & went to the Temple arriving there before 7: A.M. Took Spencer to the depot on my way. He is returning by train to Tremonton. I was in meeting with Jos. F. Smith, Jos Christensen, Andetes Hyde & Alfred Petero & others for two or three hours at the Temple considering contemplated changes in the [page break] keeping of accounts in the Temple &c Came into the Temple at 7 A.M. & left for home at 4:40 P.M.
