I had a busy day at the Temple. Attended to business with Pres. Grant. In the evening Mother & I called on Patriarch Hyrum G. Smith and at his request gave him a blessing. My Son Geo & I saw a wrestling match at the Hippodrome, complimentary. Mother & Edith went to the Capitol.
2 November 1929 • Saturday
Mother and I visited and I administered to several sick people. We took dinner with Clarence and Mamie I went to the Temple and did some desk work &c In the evening we went to a show with George & Edith, and after the Show I took train for Milford on my way to Beaver.
3 November 1929 • Sunday
Arrived in Milford at 7:10 A.M. and was met by Bp. Miller and with him went to Beaver, 32 miles, with Bro. Stott and wife in their Car arriving at 8:35 A.M.
Attended Priesthood officers’ meeting at 8:45 and General meeting of the Stake conference at 10:00 & 2:00 o’clock. I spoke at all the meetings. I set apart four Bp’s Counselors in three Bishoprics. I returned with same car to Milford and addressed the evening meeting.
Took train at 10:45 P.M. for home.
4 November 1929 • Monday
Arrived in Salt Lake at 6:25 A.M 25 minutes over time. Took cab for home. Made ready and went to the Temple at 8:00 A.M. taking Alberta Gallacher to work. [page break] Had a busy day at the Temple. Took Mother and Estella Lee up to the L.D.S. Hospital to see their Sister Sarah.
Attended Richards Motor Co directors meeting 5 to 7 oclock. Then to returned to the Temple to my desk.
5 November 1929 • Tuesday
Mother & I went to the poles and voted. I gathered up my daughters Nerva, Sarah, Nina & Marie & took them to our home where they spent several hours visiting, and in the evening I took them home. George came down in the evening and made repairs on our radio set which made it, seemingly, about as good as when new.
I attended to some deskwork at the Temple. Wrote letters &c.

Mother & I spent the day and part of the evening in the Temple We had a busy day.
7 November 1929 • Thursday
I was speaker at the Temple meeting. We had about 90 missionaries present. Met with members of the Twelve and later with the Presidency & the Twelve fasting. I did the living sealings &c.
Mother & I went to the Hospital and got Sarah Dunn, her Sister, and took her to where her daughter is staying. We visited Rega & Lucena in the evening.
8 November 1929 • Friday
I attended to my Temple work as usual.
I called on Atty R. Vern McCullough [page break] at his office in Judge Building and arranged for him to write up my will.
I played a nine holed game of Golf with my Son George, the first I have played for a month or two.
In the evening my Son George & I went to a wrestling match at the McCullough Hypodrome.
9 November 1929 • Saturday
Mother & I drove to Monroe, So. Sevier Stake leaving home at 11:50 A.M. We took Sister Forester as far as American Fork where she visited with her sister while we were gone.
We went via Manti and spent an hour going through the Temple at Manti. Pres. Anderson & a Bro Black showed us through. We reached Monroe at 6:30 P.M. and put up at Pres. Ware’s home.
Attended 7:30 P.M. Priesthood Conference meeting and spoke to those present.
10 November 1929 • Sunday
Monroe, Ut.
We had a good night last night. I met with the Stake Presidency at 9: A.M. Attended public Conference meetings at 10:A.M. & 1:00 P.M. and Spoke at both meetings.
Mother & I left Monroe at 3:30 P.M. Stopped at Nephi and had supper at the Nephi Cafe. We arrived home at 9:00 P.M. My Car registered 206 miles going down and 185 miles returning. George & Edith came in and visited us for an hour or thereabouts.
11 November 1929 • Monday
This is Armistice [page break] day and the Temple is closed <to public by approval of Pres Heber J. Grant>
I raked up the leaves this forenoon in the front & rear. Spent some time at the Temple.
12 November 1929 • Tuesday
I spent the forenoon at home carrying leaves & rubbish from the rear yard to the Street &c
I went to the Temple in the afternoon and from 2 to 4 oclock I spent in a missionary meeting where 90 missionaries were set apart and instructed. I set apart eleven Sister Missionaries and gave instructions to the Company.

13 November 1929 • Wednesday
I spent a busy day at the Temple except a short period in which I played a game of golf with my son George. <Left the Temple for home about 8:30 P.M.>
14 November 1929 • Thursday
Attended Temple meeting at 9:00 A.M. Council of Twelve meeting 9:30 to 10:00 Council meeting of Presidency & Twelve 10: A.M. to about 2:40 P.M., Directors meeting 3:15 27th Ward entertainment 8:15 P.M.
15 November 1929 • Friday
Attended to my duties at the temple until about 2: P.M. when Mother & I left for Tooele to attend a reception given by A. F. Doremus & wife on their 60th wedding anniversary. Our daughter Nerva, grand dr. Thelma & Mothers Sister Estella went with us to visit their friends in Tooele. Later in the evening my son George & I attended a wrestling match, Complimentary, and later [page break] I took train for Big Horn, Wyo.

On train. Arrived in Butte at about 3:50 P.M. Took train to Billings.
17 November 1929 • Sunday
Arrived in Billings about 7:00 A.M. Took 7:30 train for Lovell. Arrived in Lovell at 11:00 A.M. and was met at the Ry Station by Pres. Albert Olsen of the Stake Presidency and went to the meeting of the conference in session. I spoke as closing speaker abt. 20 min. Took dinner with Pres Croft.
At the Afternoon session I occupied about 60 min. with good liberty.
I spoke of the activities & new activities of quorums. Recommended for the H. Priests, Genealogical & Temple work; for the Seventies Stake missionary work; for the Elders the ward teaching work to function as quorums while at home & not on missions. I spoke upon the Subject of Temple work, including the Eternity of the marriage Cov.
I took 3:08 P.M. train for home.
18 November 1929 • Monday
Arrived in Butte 8:00 A.M. and left on O.S.L. Ry at 8:10 for Salt Lake arrived in Salt Lake 11:20 P.M. On this train going & coming I did considerable reading and studying. Found all usually well at home.
19 November 1929 • Tuesday
I spent most all the forenoon at home, did work at the afternoon at the Temple and played golf with my son George. I took Mother and her Sister Sarah to the Paramount and saw “The Hollywood Review, a wonderful picture [page break] and to Kesler’s to Supper.
20 November 1929 • Wednesday
Mother and I went to the temple as usual. Bro. O. F. Whitney was speaker at the Temple meeting. We went down to See our daughters Sarah & Mamie in the evening for a while otherwise we were at the Temple from morning until 10:30 at night. Wrote to Ray.
21 November 1929 • Thursday
Attended to my duties at the Temple as usual and attended weekly Council meeting from 10: A.M. to after 1:00 P.M.
22 November 1929 • Friday
Attended to my duties at the Temple as usual. I was one of the Speakers at the funeral services of Elder Frank Alexander in Wandamere ward chapel. In the evening my son George & I went to the wresting match while Mother & Edith went to a show.
23 November 1929 • Saturday
I had some repairs made on my car and had it greased, oil changed &c while I was at the Temple.
I left home in my car about 5:00 P.M. for Ogden, my wife accompanying me, where I attended Ogden Stake quarterly Conference & Priesthood meeting held in the Weber Academy building, 404 Priesthood present
I addressed the meeting for about 45 minutes with good liberty.
Mother and I stayed at Edna’s all night. I took Mother & Edna to supper. [page break]
24 November 1929 • Sunday
At Ogden. At Edna’s.
I attended and spoke at morning and afternoon sessions of the Ogden Stake Conference held in the Tabernacle, full house. I occupied about 45 minutes at each meeting with good liberty.
Spencer & Estella came down from Tremonton and Edna served us a good dinner. After the afternoon meeting I visited with the folks until about 8:15 P.M. when we left for home. We arrived home at 9:30, a pleasant ride.
25 November 1929 • Monday
Mother and I went to the Temple in the morning as usual where we spent a busy & pleasant day.
26 November 1929 • Tuesday
I spent part of the day at the Temple Paid two visits to the Presidencies office with Presidents Grant & Ivins.
Took Mother & Estella Lee down to Nerva’s to a quilting and later went & got them. Spent the evening at home. Oliver & Marie called & spent an hour or two.
27 November 1929 • Wednesday
I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual, had a busy day. I sealed nineteen living couples and several families.
28 November 1929 • Thursday
Thanksgiving Day.
I played a game of golf in the forenoon with my Sons LeGrand & George and my grandson Franklin. We had to dinner Jack & Ruby, Spencer & Estella & Edna & Robt. [Hraik’s?] <Dr> [page break] In the afternoon I took my Son Oliver to the Football game at U. of U. Stadium Mother & I took Jack & Ruby to an early show and then with them went to the LeGrands’ home and spent about 2½ hrs.
29 November 1929 • Friday
Mother and I went to the Temple in the morning as usual where we attended to our daily work. In the evening, my Son George & I attended the wrestling match on complimentary tickets.
30 November 1929 • Saturday
I left home at 8:25 A.M. in Company with Pres. Allen E. Park in his Ford for Gunnison arriving there at 12:20 P.M. We went into executive Session with the Stake Presidency, then took an hour off for luncheon. I was one of the Speakers at the afternoon and evening Priesthood meetings and between and before & after from 2 to 12 oclock. Two Bishoprics had asked to be released and we investigated there cases before the Stake Presidency. I found the complaints to be against the Stake President. After hearing their complaints I advised the Bishoprics to continue for the Present and to Sustain the President. I counseled him to Sustain them. This they promised to do. There were some fears that the people might vote the President out but I requested them to sustain him for the present which they did with three opposing votes. This action was taken in Sunday afternoon meeting.
