With Pres Henderson & his son James I left Panguitch at about 5:00 A.M. for Marysvale. When we were out about 20 miles we ran short of gas & waited 2½ hours for some one to come to our relief. When relief came it was too late to catch the train at Marysvale. I had to stay over until next morning and stayed at “The Grand.”

At the weekly Council meeting the Sacrament was administered. I offered the prayer at the altar. Fasted. I got excused and sealed up 26 or more couples living and 19 children to parents. We found it necessary to have an extra session in the evening, not being able to accommodate all who came for the regular session. There were in the evening session 48 brethren and 44 sisters, total 92.
In answer to a letter I wrote to Pres. Jno. F. Nash of Thatcher, Arizona, May 12th, I received a letter from him yesterday dated May 27th as follows:
Dear Brother: “In answer to your letter of May 12th the facts as near as I can get them, the lady, a sister Jones of Las Vagas, New Mexico had been very desirous of attending that particular conference, and had come all the way from Los Vagas for that purpose. The day before conference, she was taken sick which developed into pneumonia. She had been in bed all day Saturday with the promise from the Doctor of several weeks of the same condition before recovery.
You administered to her in the evening and next morning she arose and attended Conference all day with no ill effects of so doing.”
Comment, The counselors in the Stake Presidency and I answered a [page break] call to administer to this particular Sister Jones, Saturday about 4 P.M. When we got to the house she seemed to be very sick and a number of her friends and relatives were there present. One of the brethren anointed and I sealed the anointing. Next day at the close of the Afternoon meeting Sister Jones came to me on the stand and said she was a living witness that miracles are wrought in these days and then said, “I am the woman you administered to yesterday.”

I visited my daughter Sarah at the hospital where she was confined May 28th. She expects to leave the hospital tomorrow, and go to our home for a few days on our invitation.

I presided at the Temple meeting at 8:30 as usual. Pres. A. W. Ivins, speaker. The assembly hall of the annex would not seat all the people by perhapse twenty-five or thirty who were standing. We had about seventy marriages. Elder Jos. F Smith, Jr., assisted me with the sealings. It was a strenuous day for me. I received this day the promised certificate from D. H. Livingston for a 25 acre individual interest in a 1000 acre tract of land on the Fowler Dome in Montana near the site of the new well being driven by D. H. Livingston and others, now 1500 feet down. This certificate to me and my sons George, LeGrand and Joel conjointly and is given gratuitously on account of the disappointment, much experienced in our holding of 960 acre tract purchased from him & Wm Atkin. However, that tract may yet prove valuable. [page break] My son George & his wife took mother and me for a ride in the evening.
I made ready and took train at 10:45 P.M. for Lund on my way to St. George.

I bought a duster in Cedar which is just such as I wanted except that it is too large which I do not regard as a serious fault. The price had been put at $7.00 and had been reduced to $4.90 and they gave it to me for $2.50 without my asking for the reduction.
I took the stage from Cedar at 3:20 and arrived in St. George at 6:20 P.M. and put up at the Arrowhead hotel. I phoned for Bros. Whitehead & Cottam of the Stake Presidency who came to the hotel where we had a talk about Stake & Temple conditions and we three visited Pres. Cannon of the Temple.

I had extended conversation with Pres. David H. Cannon on temple matters and offered many suggestions of changes to conform to the practice in the other temples. Bro. Cannon manifested a humble and submissive spirit and during the conversation expressed a willingness to be released from the position of President of the Temple at any time the authorities desired it, but said that he is in need of the allowance made him and hope it would not be cut off as he had no other means of support for his family. Bro George F. Whitehead also went through the temple. He and Pres. Edward H. Snow met me at the Temple at my request and they attended the morning temple meeting at which I was the speaker. I met with the Stake Presidency in the evening. I slept at the home of Bro. Joseph Cottam of the Stake Presidency.
