Orin has no desire to get out of his bed this morning but he is in the way of recovery, we think.
I went to the Temple about 9:00 A.M. I worked at my desk until [blank] P.M. Went home to supper and after supper, Mother and I went to South Bountiful where we attended a testimonial tendered the ward Bishopric. President Ivins had been invited to go and he asked me to go in his stead. I wrote a letter to Wm. M. Waddoups of Hawaii.
2 November 1924 • Sunday
I attended 27th ward priesthood meeting at 9:00 A.M.; Sac meeting at 2: P.M. and Conjoint M.I.A. meeting at 6:30 At 10:00 A.M. attended Temple Workers meeting in the Temple. Pres Ivins was in attendance & spoke. Other speakers were, Jos F. Smith, Albert W. Davis, Jas Christensen and myself.
Our little grandson Orin is improving nicely. Weather beautiful.
3 November 1924 • Monday
Orin up & dressed. I went to the Temple as usual. No need for an overcoat, the weather is warm & delightful. [page break] I called on my daughter Sarah considered with my son-in-law Hugh J. Cannon political and election matters. I also made some inquiry in regard to radios with a view to buying one.
I spent most of the day at my desk writing letters &c. Mother & I went with Geo & Edith & LeGrand & Ina to the Wilks at 8:30 P.M.
4 November 1924 • Tuesday
Election Day.
Orin is about well again. Weather mild.
I cast my ballot and went to the Temple as usual. In the evening I with a number of my family & others went to my Son-in-laws Hugh J. Cannon & through the Radio heard the election returns. I remained there until about mid night.
5 November 1924 • Wednesday
Snowing
Elder Whitney was our speaker at the Temple. Besides sealing sixteen or more living couples, I sealed up a good number of children to parents of the Gill family.
Attended my prayer circle meeting.
6 November 1924 • Thursday
This is a very dark and stormy day, snow & fog.
I went to the Temple as usual where I spent the day. Attended the regular Council meeting of the Presidency & the Twelve in the Temple. Sealed sixteen or eighteen living couples and some children to parents. Also attended to some dead sealings. Leaving the Temple about 7:30, Alice [page break] and I attended a ward entertainment in the 27th Ward.

I took 8:30 A.M. D. & R.G. train for Elsinore, So. Sevier. Arrived there at 4:10 P.M. where I was met by Bro. Staples of the Stake Presidency and taken to his home in Elsinore and there I spent the night.
8 November 1924 • Saturday
Beautiful weather.
The two sessions of Conference and a meeting of the Stake Presidency, the H. Council and Bishoprics of the So. Sevier Stake were held in Elsinore. I spoke at each of these meetings. Subjects treated are: 10 A.M. meeting, 35 minutes Faith & Works; 2 P.M. 50 min service, individual and official. Read the hymn “A poor wayfaring man of grief,” None should refuse a call, and when accepted never should lie down on the job; 7:30 P.M. 40 minutes, Offices as talents, officers as shepherds, as physicians.
I went with Pres. Maglby to Monroe after the evening meeting and stayed there until conference was over.

Storming
I attended the morning session of Conference and was one of the speakers. I occupied 35 minutes on the subject of Ward Teaching. Attended a Religion Class meeting in the Seminary at 9 A.M. and addressed the Teachers.
At the afternoon meeting of Conference I occupied about 50 minutes upon the subject of tithing. Read some quotes. At the 7:30 Conjoint Mutual meeting [page break] at Elsinore I was announced as the speaker of the evening. I occupied 50 minutes. Subject. The Eternity of the M. Covenant, and how to be happy or to secure happiness here and hereafter. I gave some examples of disappointment through neglect. After meeting I returned to Monroe with Pres. Magleby and spent the night at his home.
10 November 1924 • Monday
Monroe. Utah. Stormy.
I took train at Elsinore at 9:26 A.M. and arrived at home, S. Lake at 5:00 P.M. I spent the evening at home. LeGrand and Ina called in to see us.
On my request Bro. Robert W. H. Smith, the agent for the Super-Hetrodyne Radio Sets placed one on our home last Friday the 7th on trial. Last night I listened to broadcasted lectures, music &c from S. Lake, Hastings, Nebraska, Oakland & San Francisco.

“Armistis Day.”
I arose at 5:30 A.M. and after bathing, shaving & otherwise arranging my toilet I went to the Temple as usual.
Attended Director’s meeting of the U.I. V. Co. In the evening with other members of the family, I went down to my daughter Nerva’s This being Thelma’s 20 birth day. She is my oldest grand child.

Snowing fast.
I arose at 5:30, made ready and went to the Temple. Had a busy day. Sealed 15 or 20 couples of living. Attended Circle in evening. [page break]
13 November 1924 • Thursday
Cold weather.
I attended to the living sealings. Attended weekly Council meeting from 10 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
Between the hours of 7:00 and 9:15 P.M., I sealed 64 couples of our family dead. Claude, Stayner & Geo. L Tate acted as witnesses and proxies. Their wives were the women proxies. I assisted at the veil with the evening company. I assisted in taking the last company through the veil and left the temple at 10:50 P.M.
Today, I received a letter from Wm. M. Waddoups, President of the Hawaiian Temple proffering to do our baptismal work the equivalent of what we do on Tuesdays, i.e. from 2000 to 2500 each week, that we may use Tuesdays for endowment work.
14 November 1924 • Friday
I spoke at the Temple meeting. I presented to Bros Jos. F. Smith Jr, Bro Davis & Bro. Christensen the matter contained in Pres Wm M. Waddoup’s letter received yesterday & they approved.
I sought & obtained an interview with Pres Grant & Pres. Ivins. I took Bro. James D. Cummings along and President Grant set him apart to do sealings and gave him the authority that is necessary. With Jos. Fielding Smith I presented the matter contained in Bro. Wm. M Waddoup’s letter received yesterday and it met with their approval. We will begin at the beginning [page break] of the year to have endowments administered on Tuesdays and send to Hawaii some of our baptisms. This is a long stride in the right direction, i.e. toward progression. I had the brethren together who do the sealing work and instructed them looking to harmony.
I wrote to my daughter Ruby.
15 November 1924 • Saturday
I went to the temple as usual. Answered correspondence, including a letter from Elder Reed Smoot. I have the appointment to attend North Davis Stake Conference to-day and tomorrow in Kaysville, one public meeting today at 2:00 P.M. and three public meetings tomorrow. I went to Kaysville on 1:00 P.M. train. I was one of six speakers. Occupied 25 min, Subject some things we have to do in order to obtain eternal life; The reward will be ample.
Returned home on 4:01 P.M. train. I spent the evening at home with the radio set.
16 November 1924 • Sunday
I took 9:00 A.M. Electric train for Kaysville where I attended the forenoon and afternoon meetings of the North Davis Stake. I spoke at each of the meetings. In the 1st meeting I occupied 45 minutes in an effort to impress upon the minds of the people the necessity for not only obeying the ordinances but of keeping the commandments; not only [page break] being good but doing good, serving the Lord through serving mankind.
At the afternoon meeting I occupied about 45 minutes on the subject of Service where called to labor. Contrasting temple & genealogical work when we are not called with the missionary & other work of the Church to which men & women are called. Our callings are as talents. Ward teaching & Temple & genealogical work received special attention
I returned home and having a radio set in my home, listened to the first religious radio service of the Church at 9:00 P.M. Pres. Grant was the speaker for 25 minutes and there were a number of musical numbers, opening and closing prayers were offered. Every word could be heard with distinctness. We had about 20 present to hear it.
17 November 1924 • Monday
I went to the Temple as usual, where I spent the day. In the evening mother & I went to the Wilks show house, Collinger Co., We invited Geo. & Edith & Sarah & Hugh but they had other engagements. Play title “The Trumpet of X”.
18 November 1924 • Tuesday
All well.
I went to the Temple as usual and at 2:00 P.M. I assisted in setting apart a company. of 45 missionaries and gave instructions to them.
This day I bought of the Efficiency Radio Co. through Mr. Robt. W. K. Smith a Neutrodino radio set and spent the evening with my family & the radio. [page break]

I spent the day from 7:15 A.M. to 7:30 P.M. in the Temple attending to my work there as usual. Spent the evening at home. I wrote to my daughters, Ruby at Cornish & Edna at Eugene, Ore.
20 November 1924 • Thursday
Attended weekly Council meeting from 10 A.M. until 3:30 P.M. Attended to the Sealings between which the Brethren were at dinner. From 8:15 to 10:30 I was in attendance at the pagent in the Large Tabernacle, by the Liberty Stake people.
21 November 1924 • Friday
I went to the temple as usual before 8:00 A.M. where I spent a busy day until about 7:30 P.M.
I received from Bro John E. Magleby of Monroe by mail a baby cheese, and wrote him a letter of acknowledgement.
I spent the evening at home after returning from the Temple.
22 November 1924 • Saturday
All usually well.
I took 7:00 A.M. train to Deweyville. There I was met by Pres. Hansen and taken by auto to Garland, arriving at 10:12 A.M.
The first meeting of the Conference was of officers and after the opening exercises the Sisters went by themselves. I occupied about 40 minutes upon the subject of service and faithfulness to duty. I took dinner with Bro. Sweltz of the Stake Presidency. At the afternoon meeting, which was for the public, [page break] I occupied about 40 minutes on Love, Sacrifice, Service, Example, honor & kindred subjects. At the close of the afternoon meeting I went home with my brother Myron on his invitation to stay for the night.

Am well
Clear and cold.
I spoke at the morning session of the conference for about 30 minutes address myself to a group of boys on the front. Had good liberty. At the afternoon session I occupied about 40 minutes upon the subject of Tithing, reading sentiments.
Took 5:05 Electric train at Deweyville and arrived in Salt Lake, 7:40 P.M. About 20 of our family came in and between 9 & 10 P.M. we heard the L.D.S. services broadcasted from the Des. News K.F.P.T. President Grant was the Speaker. He spoke a week ago.
24 November 1924 • Monday
Our daughter Ruby & her husband came down from Cornish Saturday and returned today. I met with the Committee on Temple ordinances from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. I left the temple early. My wife is ill with cold. I have some cold but it does not disable me as yet. Spent the evening at home reading and listening to the radio until about 11:30 o’clock.
25 November 1924 • Tuesday
Mother some better. [page break] I went to the Temple in the morning as usual. Wrote several letters and attended to other desk work. Spent about an hour with Pres. Allen of Summit Stake at the Temple annex. Left for home at 5:35 P.M. Spent the evening at home.
26 November 1924 • Wednesday
Attended to my duties at the Temple as usual. Attended prayer Circle at 6:30. Spent the later part of the evening at home. The Efficiency radio man, Robt K. Smith, exchanged the 5 tuded set for 6 tubed set of the Neutrodyne and left for trial.
27 November 1924 • Thursday
Thanksgiving Day. We had but the two sessions of endowments, the 7 o’clock & the 9 o’clock. The first session had in it, 168 men and 123 women; a total of 291. The Second session was not so full.
Bro. Call and I arranged a schedule for night workers after the first of the year when we will have four days of endowments each week.
Mother and I left the Temple at 3:00 P.M. and went to the Pantages. Later we went to the American with George & LeGrand and their wives and after the show we listened to the Radio.

I took 8:30 train for Marysvale. I was met at the Marysvale station by Bro. W. C. Owens of the Stake Presidency who took me 55 miles to Panguitch between 5 and 7:30 P.M. I stayed at the home of Pres. Henderson. [page break]

Panguitch
I attended and spoke 45 at the 10 A.M. Conference meeting. Subject. Purpose of our being here; end in view; works with faith necessary. At the 2 P.M. meeting I occupied 50 minutes on ward teaching and general Church service. From 4:20 to 6:00 P.M. I met with the Stake Presidency and each of us spoke and reported how we are living and I brought to their attention a number of important matters for their consideration. Later in the evening I accompanied Pres. Henderson & wife to the theatrical “Partner Ship in the pill business.” A laughable farce.
30 November 1924 • Sunday
Panguitch.
I occupied 45 minutes in the morning meeting on the Subject of Man’s eternal progression; scout work for boys; Eternity of the marriage covenant. At the afternoon meeting I occupied 45 minutes on the Subjects of the word of wisdom and tithing. Had good liberty. All the Conference meetings were held in the Social Hall. The attendance was as fols:

Leaving Panguitch at 5:00 P.M. with Pres. Henderson I went to Marysvale the Ry terminus where i stayed overnight at the New Grand Hotel. Elder Claud Cornwall called in and spoke of the afternoon meeting of the conference [page break] and he rode with us to Marysvale. He was returning from Kanab. The weather is seasonable, cold & clear. Barring a slight cold, my health is good. I do not know when I have had more satisfaction with my work than while in Panguitch.
