1 December 1930 • Monday
I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual. Attended director’s meeting of the Richards’ Motor Co. from 11:30 to 3:20. Mother & I went to Sugar House in the evening and administered to our daughter Mamie.
2 December 1930 • Tuesday
I attended a committee meeting at 10: A.M. Comprising four of the Apostles and the Presidencies of the Liberty, Granite & Grant Stakes where we considered proposed division of these stakes. I took Mother to a show in the evening.
3 December 1930 • Wednesday
I attended to my duties at the temple as usual. Assisted in setting apart and instructing a company of missionaries. I set apart eight of them. Bro. Call and I visited Sister J. D. Cummings at Bodel Apts. and blessed her. Mother & I left the Temple about 8: P.M. and called on Oliver & Marie & Sarah & Hugh.
4 December 1930 • Thursday
I was with the Brethren of our Council in the Temple from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. Was busy at my desk and in directing the work until after the companies came through.
A busy day. In our meeting I mentioned that my appointment was to Star Valley this week. Pres Grant said he thought I ought not to have to make the trip. Pres Ivins said he made the trip once in winter and suffered much from the cold. It was decided to authorize the Presidency of the Stake to ordain a Bishopric [page break] which seemed to be the pressing need for a visitor. Bro Jos Anderson was to wire them.

I spent a busy day at the temple as usual and in the evening Mother & I visited Cousin Lulu G. Richards & family, whose son Willard has just passed away We also visited Bro. Benj Goddard’s family and Saw his body, he having died this day, 11:00 A.M., I blessed Sister Goddard, assisted her
6 December 1930 • Saturday
My son Oliver is in bed with cold & sore throat I visited him and administered to him. Spent several hours at the temple. Visited LDS Hospital and administered to John M. Knight who by auto accident has five breaks in the bones of one leg. I also administered to Chester Call.
7 December 1930 • Sunday
I visited the undertaking parlors of Larkin Bros & Saw the body of Willard Green Richards and later spoke at his funeral services in 20th ward. I visited Benj. Goddard’s home & family and later offered the invocation at the funeral services in Assembly Hall.
A number of our family folks came to our home in the evening.
8 December 1930 • Monday
I spent a busy day at the Temple. In the evening I wrote a letter to Ray, a Christmas letter.
9 December 1930 • Tuesday
I spent some time at the Temple. Mamie & Oliver better of their ailments. Estella & Children came from Tremonton with Spencer’s brother Moses and I [page break] took her and Mother down to Mamie’s and then up town & left them shopping while I went to the Temple &c. Later I called and got got them and took them home where I spent the evening.
10 December 1930 • Wednesday
Mother & I went to the Temple as usual in the early morning.
Geo. L. Tate was taken Ill and several of the brethren, myself included administered to him and I took him home in my Car.
Bro. Call & I blessed H. H. Cummings for his health.
11 December 1930 • Thursday
I attended to my meetings and other work at the Temple as usual for Thursdays. In the evening Mother & I attended a 27th ward show.
Edna came down from Ogden. Mother & I took Edna & Estella from the Temple to Sugar House & back home and took Edna to the train at 8:00 P.M.
12 December 1930 • Friday
We went to the Temple as usual where we had a busy day.
At night Mother & I went to the Play House and saw the play by the L.D.S. Students.
13 December 1930 • Saturday
I took noon electric train for Hyrum, Cache Valley.
Arrived in Hyrum at 3:30 and after waiting at the Station an hour, got word to Counselor Jno A Israelsen of the Stake Presidency and he took me to his home at 6:30 I attended a meeting of the H.C. and at 7:30 P.M. a meeting of the Priesthood Conference & spoke there 30 min. [page break]
14 December 1930 • Sunday
Hyrum, Utah.
I attended a 9: A.M. meeting of the Stake Presidency called by my self.
Attended and spoke at the 10:00 A.M. & 2: P.M. Conference meetings, also at a 1:00 P.M. meeting of the Presidency and a 4: P.M. meeting of the Bishops.
I took 6:26 P.M. Electric train for home Arriving in Salt Lake at 9:45 P.M. My son Oliver, wife & boy met me at the depot and took me home.
15 December 1930 • Monday
Mother & I went to the Temple in the early morning as usual, where we had a busy day. We went through the Temple at night.
16 December 1930 • Tuesday
I was in Quarterly meeting of the Twelve from 9:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
I spent the evening at home. Stormy day and night.
17 December 1930 • Wednesday
Stormy time.
I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual.
Mother & I went through in the evening.
18 December 1930 • Thursday
I attended to my work and meetings at the Temple as is usual on Thursdays. I went through with the 5: P.M. Company.
19 December 1930 • Friday
Considerable snow on the ground and cold weather.
Mother & I went to the Temple as usual where we had a busy day.
I paid for $5.00 money order to go to Joel Tate
My son George & I went to the McCullough wrestling arena after 8:30 P.M. We took Pres. [page break] Clawson and returned him when the match was over.
20 December 1930 • Saturday
Cold weather
I went to the Temple before noon where I spent some time at my desk, attending to correspondence &c.
Spent some time at the Garage having a tire repaired. Good sleighing.
21 December 1930 • Sunday
Cold weather.
I attended High Priests meeting and S.S. in 27th ward. I heard the Tabernacle exercises over the Radio. J. F. Smith prayed & M. J. Ballard was the speaker. I also heard J. E. Talmages evening radio address & two or three other Xmas addresses.
I am having some neuralgiac trouble in my teeth on the left side & the cold aggravates the trouble.
22 December 1930 • Monday
Still very cold
Mother & I went to the temple as usual and I was the Speaker at the meeting. With this day’s work the Temple closes for the administration of Endowments until Monday, Jan. 5, 1931. We had a busy day and I went through with the evening session and assisted at the veil.
23 December 1930 • Tuesday
I spent a busy day with the Twelve reading and criticizing books in use in the seminaries.
24 December 1930 • Wednesday
Stormy, snow.
I attended to some pre Xmas matters, and at night took Mother & Ruby around to the different branches of the family, so that it was about 1:30 A.M. when we [page break] retired to our beds.
25 December 1930 • Thursday
Lucena’s children stayed at our home over night, also Ruby & Edna and this early morning I took them down to Lucena’s where we had breakfast & dinner and spent most of the day.
26 December 1930 • Friday
Weather cold.
I spent the day mostly in the bosom of my family and in the evening, my son George & I went to the McCulough Wrestling match.
27 December 1930 • Saturday
I spent the day largely with the family, a time of jollyfication.
28 December 1930 • Sunday
I attended 27th ward S. School and in the evening, by appointment attended and spoke at the Capitol Hill ward. The Bishopric was changed and I set apart the new Bishopric, Bp Lloyd & counselors.
LeGrand & family came about 5:00 P.M. from Glendale, California by auto and they accompanied Mother & me to meeting. We took supper with them at Joel’s.
29 December 1930 • Monday
I was with the Twelve in session from 9:30 A.M. to 12 noon and from 3: P.M. until about 6: P.M. During the recess at 1: P.M. I attended at spoke at the funeral services of John Kirkman, in 10th ward chapel He was one of our Temple workers.
30 December 1930 • Tuesday
Weather very cold.
I was in session most of the day with the Twelve. [page break]

Same with the Twelve
I performed the marriage ceremony of my grand daughter, Mercedese to Grant Iverson at the Temple and Mother & I were guests of the Couple & LeGrand at the Wedding breakfast held in Hotel Utah.
Edna came down from Ogden and Mother & I took her to a show.
