I arrived in Salt Lake from St Anthony at 7:20 A.M. After getting cleaned up and breakfast over I went to my office where I was kept busy.
2 November 1920 • Tuesday
Election day.
Geo & Edith, LeGrand & Ina & LaMont, Mother and I went out to Tooele in George’s Studebaker car. Left S.L. at 11:30 and returned at 7:30 P.M. Geo & Edith, Mother & I went to the Empress show where we got the election returns which showed a Republican victory the coun[page break]try over.

I attended B. of M. committee meeting, R. Class Bd. & Y.M.M. Bd meetings and my Circle meeting. Attended to work of my office
I attended a missionary meeting and set apart five missionaries myself.
4 November 1920 • Thursday
I attended weekly Council meeting and did work in my office.
5 November 1920 • Friday
I worked all day in my office checking up index to the B. of Mormon. Visited my daughter Sarah in the evening and took mid-night train for Burley thence by Auto to Albion to attend Raft River Stake
6 November 1920 • Saturday
Accompanied by Andrew Jenson I arrived at Burley on a belated train about 12:30 P.M. We were met by Bro. Joseph Harper Counselor in the Raft River Stake Presidency and arrived to Albion a distance of 18 miles. Weather cold but good road. Beyond Albion the roads are reported very muddy.
We stayed at the home of Bishop Thomas Loveland. I attended and spoke at the afternoon and evening meetings of the Conference Saturday as did Bro Jenson, also. [page break]
7 November 1920 • Sunday
Albion, Idaho.
Am well and happy.
I attended and spoke at both forenoon and afternoon meetings.
During the conference I quoted the following poems. “Which Shall it Be.”; “Which Loved Best”; “A Mother to Her Son.” I also told the story, “Abram and Zimri.” and the entombed miner.
Faith & works & obedience or “Honor to Parents.” “Powers of Evil &c.”
After the Conference Pres. Harper drove me back to Burley in a Ford where I got train at 7:30 for home.
8 November 1920 • Monday
I arrived home from Raft River at 7:15 A.M. and after breakfast went to my office as usual.
I worked on the B. of M. index, checking Bro. Mill’s work.
9 November 1920 • Tuesday
I attended B. of M. Committee meeting and later we appeared before the Presidency and presented some important matters pertaining to that work.
I presided over a missionary meeting where 36 missionaries were instructed and set apart. I gave instructions and set apart six of the missionaries. Mother and I having handed in our record for 20 each names of our dead went to the temple to be baptized for them but learned that they were done for already as we were later [page break] getting those than we had expected to be. Bro. Ballard and I spent some time working on B. of M. committee work.
I mailed this day my check for $200.00 to Alexander Layton of Ashurst, Graham Co., Arizona making $500.00 sent him with which to prepare and plant to alfalfa 32 acres of our land there. Joel has one fourth interest and I the 3/4ths interest having bought from George and LeGrand their interest of 1/4 each.
10 November 1920 • Wednesday
I worked in my office all day on B. of M. index and attended my circle in the evening. Later Mother and I went with George in his Studebaker down to Sarahs’ and to LeGrands’
11 November 1920 • Thursday
Attended weekly Council meeting from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. and before and after, I was busy in my office.
12 November 1920 • Friday
I was in my office as usual, busy.
I wrote to Alexander Layton about our Ashurst, Arizona farm.
I took the 11:55 P.M. train for Oasis on my way to Millard Stake Conference. [page break]
13 November 1920 • Saturday
I arrived in Oasis before 7 A.M. I was met there by a brother Bennet, son of Bp. Jesse J. Bennett of Meadow and I rode with him in a Ford to Meadow about 35 miles arriving at the meeting house where the Millard Stake Conference was being held at about 10:40 o’clock. The roads were muddy from the rain of the night which delayed us. I occupied 50 minutes in the meeting of 75 people. The Lord blessed me and the people were feed. Pres. Peter Brunsen speaking in the afternoon said in all his life he had never heard a sermon that had impressed him as did mine of the morning session.
I occupied about 50 minutes at the afternoon session and had excellent liberty. In the evening we drove 9 miles to Fillmore and attended a Priesthood meeting where the matter of dividing the ward was considered and agreed upon. Returned to M
14 November 1920 • Sunday
Attended the forenoon meeting in Meadow and the concluding session at Fillmore and occupied with good liberty about 50 minutes at each.
After the close of the conference We ordained and set apart the officers chosen for the two [page break] wards Fillmore on the South and Fillmore 2nd on the North.
At 5:25 I left with R. Class Supt. Beckstrand in a ford for Della about 40 miles distant. We made the trip in 1:40 min
I got train for home at 11:15 due in at 10:43 but late.
The topics treated by me in the Conference as follows:
Genealogy and temple work– not only what we hear benefits us but what we remember and apply, what we feel and what we think while listening to others.
This is the time to prepare for the future. The rich man & Lazarus. We should be in a condition to have no regrets when life here is at an end. Duty to fellow men, living & dead. Moses 1:39 quoted. If we refuse to accept what God offers us we will be damned. Poem— “Get some body else”. To accept a call is to covenant to magnify sam, Ex. Covenant of baptism and of the priesthood. Office is at start given us to be improved. Story of Dr Jeckyl & Mr Hyde. Two roads one leading down to degredation the other ascends to the Divine perfection. Agency & responsibility

I ordained Parker Pratt Robinson a High Priest and a Bishop and set him apart to preside over the [page break] Fillmore ward. I also ordained Elders Dennis Wells Black and Rulon F. Starley High Priests and set them apart counselors respectively to Bishop Robinson
I ordained Joseph F. Andersen a High Priest and a Bishop and set him apart to preside over the Fillmore Second ward.
I also set apart Salomon Don Carlos Wixom 1st counselor and I ordained Benjamin Glen Kelley a High Priest and set him apt. 2nd counselor.
We set apart a number of other brethren & sisters a list of which is supplied to Bro Gibbs of the Office of the First Presidency.

I arrived in Salt Lake from Meadow at 10 A.M. I went home and cleaned up and had breakfast and went to my office where I was busy all day. In the evening Geo., Edith, Mother and I went to the Empress Show.
16 November 1920 • Tuesday
All well.
I assisted in setting apart a company of missionaries and had charge.
I spent the day in my office as usual and in the evening accompanied Clarence & Mamie and Mother to the American Show.
17 November 1920 • Wednesday
I wrote Pres. Heber C. Iverson [page break] at Portland, Ore. about Charles Murray’s breach of promise suit. I set apart a missionary to Samoa. Bro. Henry E. Clark and a Sister Bradley the latter from Preston, Eng called on me.
I turned them over to Harold Reynolds who got a position for Sister Bradly in Z.C.M.I. I sent a contribution of ten dollars to the Literary Digest to feed the starving children in the Near East, Europe.
Attended R. Class Bd.; Mutual Bd. and Circle meetings.

Attended weekly Council meeting in the temple and attended to office work.

Attended to office work as usual
Left home on the night train for Shelley, Idaho.
20 November 1920 • Saturday
Arrived in Shelley at about 8:40 A.M. Attended teachers institute from 9 to 12:30 and Conference in the afternoon at which I spoke for about 40 minutes. Stayed at the home of Wilford M. Christensen
Not feeling the best in health.
I missed an entertainment in the evening.

Shelley, Ida.
I attended the three regular sessions of conference and an overflow meeting and spoke at [page break] each of them though I was having trouble with my stomach, bowels, & head. Took train at 7:40 for home. In my speaking I quoted several poems as fol.: Which shall it be in my appeal on tobacco evil in evening; “So he died for his faith.” Get somebody else, and “In speaking of anothers faults.” I acknowledge the help received from the Lord.
22 November 1920 • Monday
I arrived home on 7 A.M. train from Shelley. My health not normal but improving.
This A.M. about 5 o’clock my daughter Sarah gave birth to a baby girl. Both Mother and daughter seem to be feeling as well as could be expected. Mother and I took street car and called on Sarah, Ina, Nina and Mamie in their homes. In the evening we were guests of Pres. Grant at a theatre in Social Hall. This was Pres Grants’ way of celebrating his 64th birth day anniversary

Home.
I am almost normal again.
Attended to the duties of my office as usual. I presided at a meeting of missionaries and set apart five, three to Southern States and two to Hawaii.
24 November 1920 • Wednesday
On account of Thursday being Thanksgiving holiday, we [page break] hed our weekly Council meeting in the temple this day.
I attended my Circle meeting and attended to some business outside besides writing letters &c.
25 November 1920 • Thursday
Home.
All well. Fine day.
I spent the forenoon at home.
Mother and I visited the Oneil family 166 M. St. I took Estella to the foot ball game on Cummings field. This is the first game of the kind I have ever watched through. U.A. College won over U. of U. 9 to 3.
With Mother and Ray I took dinner at Lucenas in Hyland Park ward at 5 P.M. We spent the evening there. Mamie & Clarence were there and put in with Lucena & Rega to give the dinner. Ruby was there earlier but had to leave to go on duty for night service at Hospital. Edna, Oliver, & Estella were invited We returned home at 11 P.M.
26 November 1920 • Friday
Home.
Fine day.
I wrote letters to J. E. McKay at Lindon, to M. J. Richards at Downy & business letters.
Assisted with the proof reading of B. of M. index.
In the evening, Mother & I accepted invitation of Joel & Georgina to accompany them to the Cuceno where they had passes.
Estella Lee & Lucy came from Tooele [page break] on the 10:15 P.M. train.
27 November 1920 • Saturday
It rained and snowed last night. Three or four inches of heavy snow this morning.
I had the appointment to attend the Portneuf Stake Conference to-day and tomorrow but on account of smallpox the conference has been postponed.
I went to the office as usual in the morning and worked at my desk until 2 P.M.
Attended to home duties in the afternoon preparing for winter.
28 November 1920 • Sunday
Home.
Cold day.
I attended 27th Ward priesthood meeting at 9:30 A.M. the S. School at 10:30 and the Sacramental meeting at 6:30 P.M. At the Sunday school my son George was sustained as Superintendent of the School and I set him apart as such.
I attended the services in the Tabernacle at 2 P.M. and offered the benediction. Andrew Jensen was the speaker.
Between meetings, with others of my family, I visited my daughters Sarah and Mamie at their homes, both being in bed with illness. Estella Lee & Grant & Lucy were in from Tooele. [page break] They and George & family ate turkey dinner with us. Others of the family called on us in the evening. A pleasant Sunday.
29 November 1920 • Monday

Clear, cold day.
I spent the day in my office. Attended to business outside.
Took Estella Lee on car to depot 7 P.M.
30 November 1920 • Tuesday
Home.
Attended to business at bank, courthouse and Realty Co. office.
Wrote P. M. Condie of Preston, Ida. About Mrs. Clara Grundy Cooper and mailed copy of my letter and Trib. adds to her in Logan.
I went from my office to my daughters’ house in Sugar House where she is ill. I took supper there, Mother & Nina having prepared it.
Later, Clarence brought us home in his auto.
