Assisted by others of the brethren I administered to Sisters Park and Kidman.
Attended forenoon and afternoon Conference meetings and spoke at both I presented the Authorities and did the speaking in the afternoon meeting.
I took 3:15 P.M. train for home, arriving in Salt Lake @ 9:00 P.M. The Lord surely aided me in my work at Gunnison.
2 December 1929 • Monday
I spent a busy day at the Temple and left the Temple for home about eight or nine oclock P.M.
3 December 1929 • Tuesday
I called on the First Presidency at the Presidents’ request. I was told of their designs on my son LeGrand for President of the Hollywood Stake in Cal. I was asked my opinion & feelings which were given. I was asked to see my Son about it, which I did in the evening. I assisted Mother in her work preparing for the evening’s entertainment where we had invited all our sons and daughters living in Salt Lake to take dinner with us. George & Edith had arranged to entertain some people from Cal. and did not come. We also had my sister Nerva with us; about twenty in all to Supper. We had a very pleasant time.

4 December 1929 • Wednesday
I attended to my temple work as usual, a busy day.
I went shopping after 5:00 P.M. and bought of Walkers Store 12 satin <or silk> covered [page break] wool quilts @ $11.95 each on Special Sale until closing to-night. They would be $15.00 each tomorrow. Bro Barney the Sales man. says that they have some unpacked that they will have to ask $25.00 for and they are no better than these. They were to be of the same grade as Z.C.M.I. $25.00 quilts.
It is our purpose to give to each of the married children and Edna a quilt for Xmas.
5 December 1929 • Thursday
I attended Temple meeting, a meeting of the Twelve at 9:30 and a meeting of the Presidency & Twelve at 10: A.M. until abt 3:00 or 4:00 P.M. Mother & I went to the Gun show at night.
6 December 1929 • Friday
Attended to my duties at the Temple and played a game of golf with George and LeGrand.
7–8 December 1929 • Saturday–Sunday
I spent some time at the Temple and played a game of golf with my Son George.
My Son George took his car and took me to Kaysville where we attended quarterly Conference Priesthood meeting, 227 brethren present. The program was rendered as arranged and I addressed the meeting for about 35 minutes. We returned home after the meeting and I took my car and went down to my daughter Nerva’s in Sugar House, She being ill and Orin and I administered to her. While in Kaysville we visited Bro. [page break] Ellison of the Stake Presidency and administered to him. The above was part on Sat. & part on Sun.
Sundays meetings were attended in Kaysville by my son George & I and he spoke at former meeting and I at both meetings. I set apart a High Counselor. It was this day that I went down to Nina’s.
9 December 1929 • Monday
I went to the Temple as usual where I had a busy time.
I took Mother down to Sugar House where I assisted Orin in administering to Nina, she having contracted a deep seated cold and her former trouble aggravated thereby.
10 December 1929 • Tuesday
I spent some time at the Temple. Took Mother down to Sugar House and I then gave my daughter Nina a blessing. Mother and I took supper with Geo & Edith and took them to a show
11 December 1929 • Wednesday
Mother & I went to the Temple as usual where we had a busy day.
12 December 1929 • Thursday
Attended Temple meeting at 9:00 A.M. Council meeting for the Twelve at 9:30 and Council meeting of the Presidency and the Twelve at 10: A.M. until about 2:00 P.M. Spent the time at the Temple until a late hour in evening.
13 December 1929 • Friday
I spent the day and early evening at the Temple. Played a game of golf with my Son George. Beautiful mild weather. [page break]
14 December 1929 • Saturday
I spent the forenoon at home and took 12:40 P.M. train for LaGrande Oregon. Had a pleasant and safe ride, studied and read while enroute.
15 December 1929 • Sunday
Arrived in LaGrande at 6:40 P.M. Rainy time. I was met by President Hanks and taken to his home. We had breakfast and considered Stake matters and attended 8:45 A.M. meeting of Officers, also 10:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M. Conference meetings. I spoke at all meetings. Attended High Council meeting at 4:30 P.M.
I got 8:00 P.M. train for home.
16 December 1929 • Monday
All day on the train coming from LaGrand. Arrived in Salt Lake at 5:15 P.M. I went home and got my car and from there went to the Temple where Sister Richards was at work.
17 December 1929 • Tuesday
I spent part of the day at the Temple, played golf with my son George and Joseph Anderson. Mother and I took Hugh & Sarah, Geo., Edith to a show and after, we all went to George’s and had pine nuts and popcorn. I paid my daughter Nerva & her husband $43.25 for work done on the Shackleton list. Spring like weather.
18 December 1929 • Wednesday
Weather cooler.
I spent about 10½ hours in the Temple & had a busy day.
Mother and I took Oliver and [page break] Marie to the Paramount after 7:00 P.M.
19 December 1929 • Thursday
I did the speaking in the morning meeting at the Temple, and prayed at the altar in our Council meeting. I was one of the speakers at the funeral Services of Bro Theo. Tobiason in Forest Dale Ward.
20 December. 1929 • Friday
Last day of Endowments before the two weeks closing.
I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual. I left the Temple at 8:15 P.M. to attend a wrestling match with my son George, complimentary tickets.
21 December 1929 • Saturday
Cold weather.
Mother and I did some shopping and then went to the Temple where I attended to important work.
Estella & Spencer came and we tended the baby while they went to a show.
22 December 1929 • Sunday
I attended 27th ward S. School exercises and meeting in the Tabernacle where I offered opening prayer. Bro Ballard was the speaker. In the evening I was the speaker in the 27th ward. Joel & family called after meeting and stayed until abt 10:00 oclock.
23 December 1929 • Monday
I spent part of the day at the Temple and part at home.
24 December 1929 • Tuesday
Made preparation for Christmas. Ruby & Jack & Spencer & Estella also Edna with us.
25 December 1929 • Wednesday
Xmas all well. We spent a merry Xmas. [page break] After breakfast we visited the homes of other members of the family.

Spent part of the time at the temple as usual.

I spent the forenoon at home writing to Ray, Studying &c Wrote up my journal for the past week, from memory. Attended Oritorio “The Messiah” at 2:00 P.M. in Tabernacle, and the 27th ward meeting at night. Geo., LeGrand & Nina called after meeting.
30 December 1929 • Monday
I arose early and went to the Temple where I met my assistants & proof readers in counsel. Attended to desk work &c
While I was visiting the Mexican mission in Oct. my golf clubs were taken from the locker at the golf cours To-day I recovered them they having been found under the cabinet locker.
I took Mother down to our daughter Nina’s in Sugar House and returning we called at the County Hospital and saw Ansene Peterson, one of our Temple workers who has been in a plaster cast for a number of weeks resulting from a street accident. [page break]
We went to a show in the evening. I recovered my six Stolen golf clubs to-day.
31 December 1929 • Tuesday
A telegram from Joel in Detroit says that the mystery car that has been making such a hit in its test with other and larger cars is the companion car to the DeSoto Six and we are to handle it, an eight cylinder Car.
I took Mother down to Ina’s this morning, thence to get her three Sisters Maria, Sarah & Annie and took them up to Estella Lees where they are to take dinner. I then went to the Temple to work at my desk. We employed Heinz J. A. Pueschel as a janitor to begin work Jan 2nd @ $90.00 I had my car greased, and went up to Estella Lee’s & had a turkey dinner, I furnished the turkey. Mother & I went to the Play House theater in the evening and saw [“]The Rose of the Rancho.” It was fine. After the show we went back up to Estella Lee’s and after 12 o’clock seeing the old year out & the New year in, I took the girls part way home. I had a nail puncture in front of the Beehive & while I repaired they walked home. This is the second puncture in more than a year and 9500 miles of travel. [5 lines blank]
