The boys & I by extra effort hauled six large loads of hay from my farm 2½ miles distant & unloaded five of them.

2 July 1898 • Saturday

Took team & carriage & with me Bros. Geo. Craner, M. B. Nelson & B. L. Bowen to Grantsville where we attended Priesthood meeting & High Council meeting. I spoke in Priesthood meeting & presented the matter of opening a mission at Stockton which was indorsed by the meeting. Estella and Hyrum came from Mercur in the evening.

3 July 1898 • Sunday

Tooele Weather warm.

I attended School and meeting and Circle & evening meeting Alice & all the Children Accompanied me to School. At meeting I assisted in blessing F. D. Hormans babe & confirming three members Met some of the brethren at Bro. Lymans by his request & discussed the matter of water hunting in Middle Canyon. Hyrum & Estella were with us & took dinner here.

4 July 1898 • Monday

All usually well. All attended [p. 247] the A.M. Services. Had Ice Cream dinner. Alice took little girls to children’s dance in Afternoon after which we all took a ride Went over to the farm & up to the Cemetery. Hyrum, Estella, & Hyrum’s Mother & Sister Lottie ate Ice Cream with us in evening.

5 July 1898 • Tuesday

Boys finished the hay hauling.

I not well.

I met train with my team & carriage & brought up John Tates mourners. & in the evening afternoon attended funeral services & Spoke.

7 July 1898 • Thursday

Fixed up stack to a fire. wired it &c. took off racks & put on 2 header boxes

8 July 1898 • Friday

Repaired & painted header boxes

9 July 1898 • Saturday

Repaired canvass Drapers & ground knives

Put up header &c.

10 July 1898 • Sunday

Attended school & meetings here in Tooele

11 July 1898 • Monday

Repaired header &c. bought cultivator

12 July 1898 • Tuesday

$9.00 Went with J. W. Tate & C R McBride to see if grain was ready to cut. Some of McBrides was ready but he preferred to have it stand.

13 July 1898 • Wednesday

I finished putting header in trim & went down to the Mill to see A Bell, Arranged <over 2 pages>2 [p. 248] With G A Remington to plow corn & bought horse of him for $25.00 in wheat @ 70¢3
