Mother and I went to the Temple as usual in the morning. My Son LeGrand & was the Speaker. I spent a busy day. Called at Orin’s office and talked to him about conditions in the home. Attended my circle meeting in the evening.
2 February 1928 • Thursday
I attended my Temple meeting as usual and from there went into a meeting of the Twelve & council of F Seventy until 10 A.M. Attended the weekly meeting of the Presidency and the Twelve. Pres. James E. Talmage was present, having arrived from Europe the day before. I wrote to Hugh & Sarah and enclosed an Exchanged check for $25.00 to Sarah.
I went through the Temple for John Langstroth, and when we got through the 5: P.M. session I assisted Pres. Grant in sealing up twelve couples and quite a number of families of children to parents. I performed the ceremonies. After the last company I had sealings which made it 11: P.M. when we left the temple. [page break]

Sister Richards and I went to the Temple as usual where we spent a busy day until after 5:30 when we went to the L.D.S. Hospital and saw our daughter Nina and her new born baby, born this day at [blank].
My son George spent some time with us in the evening experimenting on the radio. I wrote to my daughter Sarah again about Hugh’s prospects for becoming editor of the Imp. Era.

Nina getting along nicely
I spent several hours at the Temple. Wrote to Ruby and to Sarah telling them of the birth of Ninas baby &c Did some studying of Gospel subjects. Visited my daughter Nina at the hospital.
5 February 1928 • Sunday
I attended S. School and evening meeting in the 27th ward of which I am a member. Attended funeral services of Edward H. Andersen in the Richards ward chapel at 1: P.M.
Mother & I called on my daughter Nina at the hospital.
6 February 1928 • Monday
I spent the day until 12:30 at the Temple. I set apart Sister Bessie Hollings an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple, assisted by Recorder Jos. Christensen.
I spoke 20 min. at the funeral services of Gertrude McMillan, wife of Wm McMillan held in the Larkin Undertaking parlor at 1:00 P.M. Nephi L Morris spoke. [page break]
Mother & I visited Nina at the hospital. We visited with Marie at her home and in the evening took Supper with our Son LeGrand at his home, and spent the evening there. It is LeGrands 42nd birth-day anniversary
7 February 1928 • Tuesday
I set apart Emily McMillan Husbands an ordinance worker in this Salt Lake Temple assisted by Jos. Christensen. I also set apart Josephine Smith assisted by Norman Erickson.
I attended to my duties as usual in the Temple. After 5: P.M. Mother & I left the Temple and went down to Sugar House and got Nina’s children and took them to the Hospital to see their mother and then took them back home.
8 February 1928 • Wednesday
Mother & I went to the Temple as usual and spent a busy day there. I called on Pres. Grant and presented a matter involving a suiside. Attended to the Sealings &c In the evening I attended my prayer circle meeting.
9 February 1928 • Thursday
Attended weekly council meeting from 10: A.M. to about 2: P.M. and then met with the Twelve for about 1½ hours considering Priesthood work. Attended Temple meeting in the morning and sundry other work in late afternoon.

I took 7:55 A.M. D. & R.G. Ry train for Elsinore, So. Sevier, where I was met by Pres. John E. Magleby and taken to his home in Monroe about three miles distant. I went with Pres. Magleby to see the hot Springs and pavilion, bathing & dancing resort owned by Alfred Bell, in the out edge of town.

I spoke at forenoon and afternoon meetings, programmed for Priesthood Convention. In the evening I had a profitable meeting with the Stake Presidency of two hours duration.
12 February 1928 • Sunday
Monroe.
I spoke at the forenoon and afternoon sessions and returned to Salt Lake with Captain Deiese. He had an other passenger, Miss Nellie Perkins. We three sat on front Seat of a Packard Cars and came through in comfort in 4 ½ hours, 180 mi. My throat began to be sore in the night, last night, This day it is raw cold weather. My cold and hoarseness is bad but I made out.

My cold no better.
My daughter Nina’s babe is less than a week old or but little older. She is at home and having a bad sore throat. Ruby is waiting upon her. Mother is caring for Ninas children I attended a meeting of about two hours duration with the Twelve & [page break] the Stake Presidents of the Salt Lake & Davis Co. Stakes to consider plans for the consolidation of S.S., Priesthood
In the evening I took Mother, Geo. F. & Edith to a lecture in the Pioneer Stake house.
14 February 1928 • Tuesday
Cold weather.
Mother caring for Nina & children did not get to the Temple.
I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual. I took Mother & Nina’s children from our home to Nina’s in Sugar House and from there took Ruby to the O.S.S. Depot to 12:45 P.M. train I spent an hour in the President’s office with Pres Grant. Pres. Ivins present a part of the time.
I spent an hour or two at my Son George’s home & got supper there. Later He, Mother, and I went down to Nerva’s and administered to Kenneth who has been ill about two weeks with Whooping cough.
15 February 1928 • Wednesday

Light fall of snow fell last night
Cold weather.
Mother and I went to the Temple as usual. J. E. Talmage was speaker at the Temple meeting.
My physical condition is not the best. I have a cold and hoarseness which I contracted in Monroe last Saturday & Sunday.
Nina is improving from her relapse. Mother & I remained at the Temple until about 6: P.M. [page break]

I attended Temple meeting at 8:30 A.M. and Weekly Council meeting at 10: A.M. Attended to the sealing work and desk work as usual. Answered a letter for Pres. Grant on temple ordinances &c.
17 February 1928 • Friday
I took train at 7:55 A.M. for Marysvale where I was met by Pres. Pres. Wm. J. Henderson of Panguitch and taken to his home. On the way we called at Circleville and I ordained and set apart the Bishop & 2nd Counselor to the Escalante North ward.

I attended forenoon and afternoon Convention meetings of the Priesthood and addressed each meeting.

Clear cold weather.
I spoke at the 10: A.M., 2:00 P.M. & 7:30 P.M. meetings. Attended a meeting of the H Council and the Bishoprics of the two Panguitch wards where important business was attended to. To the H. Council I presented the plan as division of responsibility

20 February 1928 • Monday
I rode with Pres. Wm J. Henderson, wife & daughter in their car from Panguitch to Salt Lake. We left Panguitch at 8:45 A.M. & spent an hour in Circleville where I administered to a Brother [page break] Barker from Escalante, Sen. President of the Seventies quorum who who had met with a serious accident the day before and was still unconscious. Assisted by the Pres. of the Garfield Stake and other brethren I set apart about 15 several Counselors to Bishops and ordained 14 or 15 Seventies. We arrived in Salt Lake at 5:00 P.M. I was called to my daughter Nerva’s with my Sons George & LeGrand and we administered to Kenneth after 11 P.M.
21 February 1928 • Tuesday
I went to the Temple as usual in the morning & at 9:30 met Pres. Henderson from Panguitch and the Bishop of Tropic ward at the office of the First Presidency and attended to important business. I attended a missionary meeting and set apart nine missionaries. Had a busy day. Mother was home nursing her Eczema. She is confined to her bed.
22 February 1928 • Wednesday

Stormy day.
Washington’s birth day brings large Companies at the Temple. I went to the Temple as usual. Mother is not able to attend on account of a severe case of Eczima. We had a large attendance at the Temple this day.
I attended and spoke at the funeral Services of Bro. Morgan Richards in the 17th ward chapel. I assisted with the sealing of the dead until 4: P.M. [page break]
23 February 1928 • Thursday
Mother had fairly good night and seems to be feeling better to-day. This is the 67th anniversary of my birth and I am feeling well, no aches, no pains, and am in the full use of my faculties and senses, my limbs and the organs of my body, thanks be to the Lord. I attended and presided at the 8:30 A.M. Temple meeting. Attended the weekly council meeting of the First Presidency & the Twelve from 10: A.M. to 12:30 P.M. I spoke at the funeral of Rodney Hillam in the 10:th Ward Chapel at 1:00 P.M.
My sons George & LeGrand & I celebrated my birth day by playing a game of golf, the first of the season. I spent the evening at home with my family.
24 February 1928 • Friday
Mother does not seem so well to-day the Eczema causes her great itching. I spent the forenoon at the Temple as usual. Spent a part of the afternoon at home with my sick wife who is confined to her bed. In the evening I did some sealings of children to parents for Pres. & Sis. Grant, and later took train for Paris Bear Lake Stake.
25 February 1928 • Saturday
Arrived in Paris, Bear Lake, at about 9:40 A.M. I was met by Pres. Ray A Welker and taken to his home where I spent the night.
I attended the forenoon and afternoon Sessions of the Priesthood Convention Quarterly Conference and spoke at each. [page break] Attended a meeting of the Stake Presidency for some time with profit.
26 February 1928 • Sunday
Paris, Bear Lake, Ida.
Am well.
I attended and spoke at forenoon & afternoon meetings, ordained 20 Seventies, set apart President of the H. Priests quorum, a Pres. of Seventies of 11th Quo., and Stake Superintendent of the Y.M.M.I.A.
I took afternoon train 2: o’clock and reached home 10:45 P.M. Oliver met me at the Station. I phoned from Ogden. Mother has been gaining all the while since I left Friday.
Other members of the family who were ill are improving.
27 February 1928 • Monday
I went to the Temple in the morning. Ruby came down yesterday from Cornish and she is with Mother, who is slowly improving but confined to her bed. After 4: o’clock my son George & I went to the Golf links & played golf. I spent the evening at home. George came in and made some adjustments to my radio set
28 February 1928 • Tuesday
Mother still confined to her bed but improving.
I went to the Temple as usual where I attended to my usual work. Went to the President’s Office on phone call when the Presidency consulted me on certain important matters.
Bro. Lillywhite was taken Sick while going through. We administered to him a blessing, and sent him [page break] home with his son. I set apart Jno. A. Waite and wife as Temple workers.
29 February 1928 • Wednesday
Mother had a good night and feels fairly well to-day. I left for the Temple at 7:30 A.M. At 12:30 I attended the funeral services of the 10 yr old son of Bro & Sis. Niels E. Larsen held in the 11th ward chapel; and was one of two speakers announced. Attended to my work at the Temple as usual. Pres. Grant gave me an unpleasant job but the Lord helped me and we got through with it all right. It was arranging a basis of financial settlement between Frank H. Snow and his divorced wife. He is to pay her $40.00 per month for the keep of his two children Frank 16 yrs old and Ruth 12 yrs. That is what she asked for and he granted it. She smiled through her tears as Bro. Snow paid her the first $40. for Mar. month for which she gave him a receipt.
