Tooele Weather fine.

Took Folks to see town, Bowden & Morgan places. [p. 105]

2 October 1896 • Friday

Tooele Pleasant quite warm. Fred & Carlie left for S.L.C & I with team went to Town for Lum. & loaded up: Slept in Freds Carriage at Dr Stephen’s

3 October 1896 • Saturday

Sugar H Ward Weather warm in day & cold at night Left S.L.C. at 8 A.M. & arrived home at 9 PM, Legrand met me 8 mi from home with horse:

4 October 1896 • Sunday

Tooele Weather pleasant.

I went to Town by train Alice accompanied me also Sarah & Mamie. They went down to Dr Stephens & I attended both meetings & went down to Sugar & staid all night.

5 October 1896 • Monday

S.L. City, Tooel Weather pleasant.

Attended both Con. Meetings & returned with Alice in evening home. Geo. Met us at Depot.

6 October 1896 • Tuesday

Tooele Weather pleasant.

I took team & went to Salt Lake. Loaded with rock and attended afternoon and evening meeting. Staid at Stephen’s [p. 106] at night. Mother was there.

7 October 1896 • Wednesday

Sugar Ward. Weather fine.

I attended a meeting of the Gen. Authorities & Stake Presidents &c at 10 A.M. in As[s]embly room. Left <for> home at 2 P.M. & arrived home at 1 A.M.

8 October 1896 • Thursday

Tooele Weather fine.

I unloaded stone, got boring set. Hauled sand &c. & was very sick at stomach in afternoon. Could do no work.

9 October 1896 • Friday

Tooele Weather fine.

I felt better. Had Jos. Tate & George load up at tithing granary 60 bu. wheat & I took in to tithing office Salt Lake & slept in tithing barn

10 October 1896 • Saturday

S.L.C. Weather fine.

I unloaded wheat, loaded stone & lum. & left for home at 11:30 A.M. Arrived home at 12 mid night. Geo. met me 7 miles from here.

11 October 1896 • Sunday

Tooele Weather fine.

I copied blessing for Frank Hanson & wrote him. [p. 107] Attended meeting & spoke 20 min. Presidid at Circle, assisted in administering to Father Kirk & to Sister Gee. Did some writing

12 October 1896 • Monday

Tooele Weather continues fine.

I went down to Wood’s of Batesville & bargained for inside brick & in afternoon went downt with 4 horse team & got a load. Went over to Sprays & talked trade for his mules. He left them with me later for trial.

13 October 1896 • Tuesday

Tooele Weather fine.

I brought up with 4 & 2 horses two wagons two loads brick.

14 October 1896 • Wednesday

Tooele Weather fine.

I made trip to Grantsvil Batesville with two teams for brick.

Work on house progresses steadity [steadily].

Hauled brick from Batesville two teams. Work on house progressing nicely.

Letter from Fred. I wrote Mother, Fred & N.A. Scribner in the evening. [p. 108]

Tooele Weather pleasant.

I hauled two loads of rock and four loads sand (coars[e] sand) George helped me.

17 October 1896 • Saturday

Tooele Weather fine.

The above written for Friday is Saturdays work & On Friday we hauled brick from Wood’s at Batesville with two teams.

18 October 1896 • Sunday

Tooele Weather fine.

I shaved, bathed cared for animals & wrote to Mother & Asenath. Took team & buggy & Estella & Nerva accompanied me to Batesville where we attended meeting. I spoke 40 minutes. Prest. Gowans spoke 25 min. Attended evening meeting here.

19 October 1896 • Monday

Tooele Weather fine.

I hauled a load of rock. Had wagon repaired & hauled two loads of sand from Silcox. Work on house progressing.

20 October 1896 • Tuesday

Tooele Weather fine.

I had two shoes put on horses. Wheel to wagon taken to pieces & repaired. Dug [p. 109] rock out of the old foundation. Went to Depot & sent money by conductor to pay ful[l] on brick.

21 October 1896 • Wednesday

Tooele Weather fine.

My Press brick came out on cars. 15,000 & we hauled up with two wagons 6 hors., 3500 brick at two trips. The mason finished rock work in middle of afternoon & commenced putting on Water table.

22 October 1896 • Thursday

Tooele Weather fine.

Hauled brick from depot with two teams. My boys helping me.

23 October 1896 • Friday

Tooele Weather fine.

I unloaded brick & got Geo. & Legrand started off to City for lime. Arranged to put on another mason & by telephone engaged Leroy Palmar at $2.00 & board. Hauled 1045 brick up from Depot & a load of adobies around to house. Mason leveled up to top of Water table and commenced laying outside brick at about 11 o’clock A.m. [p. 110]

24 October 1896 • Saturday

Tooele Weather fine.

I hauled brick from Depot. Sent Joel with team to meet Geo. & Leg. He left here at 5:30 P.M. Went as far as 6 mile stone & came back coly [cold?], sleepy & hungry. I then took team & Geo’s poney & went down & met them 6 mi from here. Geo Came home on his pony & I drove the team 4 horses & got home between 1 & 2 A.M.

25 October 1896 • Sunday

Tooele Weather clowdy, some storm in afternoon.

I shaved, bathed & attended two Conference meetings and counsel meetings & took family to Cemetery Amy’s 6th birth day. Retired early.

26 October 1896 • Monday

Tooele Weather Stormy in afternoon. Work on house progressed nicely. I attended two meetings & two counsel meetings Spoke for about 25 minutes with great freedom

Unloaded lime & brick before meeting in morning & hauled sand after evening meeting. Mailed letter to Seney & Mother. [p. 111]

27 October 1896 • Tuesday

Tooele Weather Stormy. Rained in the early morning and towards night

Mr Leroy Palmer of Grantsville came up & commenced laying brick in Afternoon & Jos. Tate went on in asternoon [afternoon] as tender. My boys & I hauled four loads of sand from Stockton, cleaned adobies &c. Newel Whitney brought load of lumber for me from Town last night & I this a.m. unloaded same.

28 October 1896 • Wednesday

Tooele Weather Stormy. Rained most of the night & until about 9 A.M. Men did not work on house in forenoon. My boys & I unloaded two loads of sand and hauled four loads brick from Station with two teams. Repaired lantern in the evening. & did some writing.

29 October 1896 • Thursday

Tooele. Weather pleasant. Clowdy to-wards evening.

I made two trips to Ry. Depot for brick with two teams. The boys helped me.

Work on house progressing.

30 October 1896 • Friday

Tooele Weather pleasant. [p. 112] I hauled adobies from Martin’s and brick bats from Wood’s. Work progressing nicely.

31 October 1896 • Saturday

Tooele Weather pleasant during the day, windy & some rain & snow at night. I unloaded two loads of bats & adobies & with boys hauled two loads of sand and two loads of bats from Wood’s. Work on house progressing nicely.
