1 June 1926 • Tuesday

This being Pres Youngs Birthday anniversary we had L. E. Young as speaker & Morris Young’s wife recited in the Temple meeting. I sealed four couples or more and then went to the funeral services of Bro. L. H. Kennard [page break] in the 19th ward chapel and was one of the speakers, and as they were short of cars I offered my services and took some of their folks to Farmington the place of burial & I attended the services held in the Cemetery.

In the evening I called upon Dr Samuel S. Allen and Oliver & I & his Son gave him a blessing.

2 June 1926 • Wednesday

We had an unusually large number of young people for endowments & Sealings. Geo. H. Wallace was the Speaker.

I sealed between 45 and 50 couples Attended my prayer circle meeting.

3 June 1926 • Thursday

Beautiful weather, a beautiful spring.

I presided at the 8:30 A.M. Temple meeting as usual.

Attended weekly Council meeting from 10 to 1:00 oclock. Sealed 16 couples and some children.

4 June 1926 • Friday

I went to the Temple as usual in the morning.

Pres. Murdock of Heber extends verbal invitation to the Temple workers & employees to visit Heber for our summer outing July 5th A written invitation will follow. Later Pres Stevens of the Summit Stake gave a verbal invitation to go to his stake. I suggested next year & that seemed acceptable. I requested that he talk it over with his people & if desirable and write us. I took 4:30 P.M. R.G. train for Thompson & arrived there 12:30 midnight [page break]

5 June 1926 • Saturday

I left Thompson on truck at 7:00 A.M. & arrived in Moab about 26 miles at 9:00 From there I went with Bp. Walter D. Hammond, his wife and another lady to Blanding, about 80 miles arriving in time for the 2:00 o’clock meeting. The Quarterly Conference & Priesthood Convention was being held. I spoke at the afternoon meeting with good liberty occupying about 35 minutes.

At 4:20 I met with the Presidency, the H. Council & other leading brethren and gave instructions, dividing of responsibility, listing the important feature of the Stake work so as to not be overlooked. Work for the H Priests & Seventies. &c.

I stayed at the home of Pres Wayne Redd.

6 June 1926 • Sunday

I spoke at forenoon meeting on the subject of what the Priesthood means to the sisters, Lesser Priesthood work &c.

At the afternoon meeting I spoke on Genealogy & Temple work and other subjects.

At close of the meeting I [s]tarted with Bp Hammond on our return trip to Moab where we arrived in time for an evening meeting which had been called especially. I occupied about 60 min on the Subject of the Eternity of the Marrage Cov. &c.

After meeting Bp. Hammond & his brother & their wives took me out to Thompson where I arrived at 12:30 midnight. Stayed at the hotel.

7 June 1926 • Monday

I left Thompson at 4:20 A.M. and [page break] arrived in Salt Lake at 11:50 A.M. While in Blanding I set apart June 5th Bro Harris 2nd counselor to Pres Redd in the Stake Presidency also set apart two counselors to the Bp of Blanding. I spent an hour or so at the Temple and attended to several items of business outside, Making ready for the marriage of our daughter Estella tomorrow.

8 June 1926 • Tuesday

Home.

Beautiful day but warm.

My daughter Estella was married in the Temple to-day. I performed the ceremony and made the Talk in the Temple meeting. I sealed a number of other Couples. Mother & I took wedding breakfast with Spencer & Estella at Ninos.

We had a grand reception at our home in the evening. The weather was beautiful and we served refreshments on the lawn on tables. Had a six piece orchestra & danced &c. The Bride & Groom stayed at our home the night.

9 June 1926 • Wednesday

I attended to my duties at the temple as usual and sealed nearly 40 couples living.

10 June 1926 • Thursday

I sealed something like 30 couples of living people. Attended weekly Council meeting. Pres. Grant was absent with sore throat.

11 June 1926 • Friday

I attended to my work at the Temple as usual. Leaving the City at 7:00 P.M. I took Mother & her three sisters viz. [page break] Annie, Sarah & Estella in the Franklin to Farmington to see Aunt Annie Robinson who was in a dying condition. Her Son Harry & I administered to her and to her daughter Lucy.

12 June 1926 • Saturday

I went to the Temple in the morning as usual and had much desk work to do to keep me busy. I went over to the Assembly hall for a while where the M.I.A. convention was on. I attended the M.I.A. Contest in the evening. Visited Sister J. D. Cummings & blessed her.

13 June 1926 • Sunday

I attended the 8:30 A.M. testimonial meeting of the Officers of the M.I.A. of the Church and offered the opening prayer. After meeting I took my car and took Alice, Maria, Annie, Estella and Sarah her sisters to the funeral services of Bro. James D. Cummings on Hyland Drive, Wilford Ward and I was one of the speakers.

Later we visited the St. Marks and L.D.S. Hospitals & saw some of our friends Grant Lee, Elias Woodruff, Bro Sanburg, Sister Julia Smith. We also called on Dr L. H. Allen & I gave him a blessing.

I attended the evening and concluding services of the Conference.

14 June 1926 • Monday

I bought from Taylor Richards Motor Co. a two door Ford Sedan. They gave it to me at cost which with accessories viz. Speedometer, Foot feed, Extra tire, cover, chain & Lock &c cost me $574.35. [page break]

I bought this for my sons Oliver and Ray which they both appreciate much. I think this will be a good investment in tying the boys to their father. I desire to help them to do the things they desire to do that are right. I desire that they should be happy. In the evening I took Mother & Sister Gibbs our neighbor for a car ride down to Sugar House & back & through Liberty Park. Letter from Sarah.

15 June 1926 • Tuesday

I went to the Temple as usual. A large meeting.

I left the Temple long enough to go & take Ruby, Mercedes & Alden to the U.P. Depot where they took 12:45 P.M. train for Cache Junction where they are expecting Jack to meet them & take them on to Cornish. I attended to the Sealing work of the living. I took Alice and her three Sisters in my car to Farmington where we attended the funeral of Aunt Annie Robinson held in the Ward house. I was one of the speakers. Returning from Farmington I took Annie & Estella to their homes the Latter in Sugar house.

16 June 1926 • Wednesday

Weather cool.

I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual, many marriages.

I sealed 30 couples and Jos F. Smith sealed 20 couples living in one Company. I sealed other three couples. In the evening Mother, Lucena & I called on Estella at her apartment & on Edna at hers.

Alice and I called on Aunt Zina Y. Card at the Hospital & I gave her a blessing. [page break]

17 June 1926 • Thursday

I went to the temple as usual. Attended regular council meeting, sealed 20 couples living & some dead and a number of living children to parents. A busy day.

18 June 1926 • Friday

I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual & sealed 15 couples living and sealed a number of children to parents.

In the evening I took train for Montpelier.

19 June 1926 • Saturday

I arrived in Montpelier at 7:00 A.M. A Brother Egbert and wife met me, they having come from Afton this A.M. We left for Afton at 7:53 & arrived in Afton at 9:50. I attended the two Conference meetings in Priesthood Convention work and spoke at each. I attended a meeting of the Stake Presidency at 4:15 P.M.

20 June 1926 • Sunday

Afton, Wyo.

I spoke at the two conference meetings at a funeral service of Emma Sessions, 14 yrs old, and offered the dedicatory prayer of the Afton So. ward meeting house, the latter held at 8:30 P.M. A strenuous day.

21 June 1926 • Monday

I left Afton, Wyo. At 5:00 A.M. with Bro. Dicksen Burton & his sister in a Star Auto and had a pleasant ride through the valleys & canyons &c arriving in the City at 4:00 P.M.

22 June 1926 • Tuesday

Home.

All well

I spent the day at the Temple as usual & had a busy day. Had a lengthy talk with my son George about business matters.

I took Mother to the Pan. in evening.

23 June 1926 • Wednesday

I had a busy day at the Temple. I sealed 37 couples living and a number of couples, dead and sealed several families of children along with other work.

Went to Annie Steeds in evening.

24 June 1926 • Thursday

I attended weekly Council meeting and attended to my duties in the Temple. I sealed twenty odd couples. Went to Salt Air in the evening the first time since before the place burned down.

25 June 1926 • Friday

I took 8:15 train for Richfield Sevier Co. reaching there at 4:00 P.M. 45 min late. I was met by Pres. R. D. Young’s Son and taken to the Presidents home where I made my stay. Attended a meeting of the Presidency of the Stake, H Council & Stake officers in the evening.

26 June 1926 • Saturday

Richfield.

I spoke at the morning & afternoon Sessions of Sevier Stake Conference held in the First ward house in the A.M. and in the grove adjoining in P.M. I spent about an hour with the [page break] Stake Presidency in meeting. Both my discourses were on the life of the Prophet Jos. Smith.

27 June 1926 • Sunday

This is the anniversary of the martyrdom of the Prophet Joseph & the Patriarch Hyrum Smith.

I spoke in the forenoon meeting upon the life of the Prophet & Patriarch. In the afternoon I spoke of the errors of Secterianism and the influence of the Gospel or revealed through Jos Smith upon the faith of other &c.

At night I spoke to the young people on the Subject of marriage.

28 June 1926 • Monday

I rode home with Pres R. D. Young from Richfield. Attended to some work at the Temple and in the evening I took Mother & others to the American.

29 June 1926 • Tuesday

Went to the Temple as usual where I had a busy day. Called on Julia Smith and blessed her. Alice & I went to Sugar House & called on our daughters Mamie & Nina and their families. We took Mamie & her children for a ride also Nerva & Kenneth. Charles & Edna called on us at our home after our return. Wrote Sarah & sent by Register $5.00 Birthday.

30 June 1926 • Wednesday

Alice & I went to the Temple as usual. Many June brides. I got Pat. H. G. S. to assist me with [page break] the sealings. I sealed 26 couples, living.

30 June 1926 • Wednesday1

I attended to my duties at the temple which included the sealing of 22 couples, living & 18 children. Had a busy day. Attended my circle meeting. We adjourned until Aug. 18th for Temple renovation.

I filled an appointment with the dentist at 8:30 P.M. I had help with the sealing work to-day.
