1 June 1929 • Saturday

I took 7:00 A.M. train for Fillmore, thence to Meadow where I attended Millard Stake Conference, the First session at 2:30 P.M. I was one of the speakers. I spent the evening in Council with the Stake Presidency in regard to Scipio Ward Bishopric, and reached conclusion &c.

I spent the night at the house of Pres. Daniel Bushnell.

2 June 1929 • Sunday

Meadow.

Spoke at both forenoon and afternoon sessions of conference. Did some ordaining &c.

Took train for home arriving in Salt Lake at 9:00 P.M. Mother absent, in Cornish.

3 June 1929 • Monday

I arose early and did work on the Lawn. After Temple meeting I [page break] went with my son Ray to the Drs office where Dr. Peterson took out his tonsils.

I sealed about fifteen living couples. Did desk work &c. Administered to Ray.

4 June 1929 • Tuesday

Home.

Ray improving.

I was in the Dentist’s chair from 8:00 A.M. to abt. 11:00 A.M. Attended to some shopping and at the Temple to some desk work.

Assisted in setting apart a company of missionaries. &c.

5 June 1929 • Wednesday

We had a big day at the Temple. There were between 60 & 70 marriages. Jos. Christensen, Recorder, assisted me.

6 June 1929 • Thursday

Attended, temple meeting, a meeting of the Twelve and a meeting of the First Presidency & the Twelve. I sealed about 20 living couples.

7 June 1929 • Friday

Fine weather.

I played a game of golf with my Sons George & LeGrand in the early morning between 5:15 and 6:45 A.M.

June Conference begins this morning. Attended to important work at the Temple & outside.

8 June 1929 • Saturday

Attended June Conference sessions.

9 June 1929 • Sunday

Attended four public sessions of the June Conference of the M.I.A. & Primaries. Offered closing prayer in afternoon [page break] meeting in the Tabernacle where the First Presidency presided and were the speakers. I took Alice and her Sister Maria, Estella & Sarah to the hospital & to See Sarah J Cannon, one of our former temple workers.

10 June 1929 Monday

Mother & I went to the Temple for the morning meeting and I did not go out side until [blank] Mother went to Salt Air in the evening with her sisters. I went to the depot and met them at close of Temple & waited until midnight, then went home to find that Mother & her sister had returned on an earlier train.

11 June 1929 • Tuesday

On my way to the Temple, I took Mother, Estella & Barbara, The baby down to Thelma’s near Ninth So. on 8th East & later I went and took Estella on down to Nina’s in Sugar House, & brought Mother to the Temple, so from whence she went with other Temple Sisters to a part on invitation of Sister Jacobs.

I attended to important business at the temple including the answering of a question by Pres. Grant.

12 June 1929 • Wednesday

Attended to my duties at the Temple as usual. We had between 40 & 50 marriages.

Pres. Grant was speaker at our meeting. Jos Christenson was set apart my second assistant in the Temple presidency. [page break]

13 June 1929 • Thursday

I attended & presided as usual at the Temple meeting at 9:00 A.M. Pres. Geo. H. Brimhall was the speaker. Subject, Love. I attended council meeting of the Twelve at 9:30 A.M. and Regular Council meeting of the Twelve & Presidency at 10:00. Attended to the Sealing work for living couples.

14 June 1929 • Friday

Attended to my duties at the Temple as usual. In the evening my son George & I having complimentary tickets went to the wrestling match at McCullough’s & arena. In the early morning I played a game of golf with George, Edith & Franklin and got home before 7:00 A.M.

15 June 1929 • Saturday

I took 12:40 P.M. train for Logan where I attended and spoke at the Cache Stake Conference meeting at 7:30 P.M. in the Tabernacle.

I stayed the night at Geo. W. Lind. guests home, first counselor in the Stake Pres

16 June 1929 • Sunday

Logan,

Stormy.

I attended and spoke at both forenoon and afternoon meetings of the Cache Stake Conference. I had good liberty of speech & the Lord helped me.

At the close of the morning meeting I went to the Red Bird Cafe to dinner with the Presidency of the Stake & their wives. At the afternoon meeting my son George & family & Mother came into the meeting about 3:00 P.M. I did not recognize them until after meeting. [page break] The folks came after me and I was glad to ride home with them, On our way home we saw how that a cyclone had swept over a part of the country playing havock with buildings, sign, trees, phone poles &c. Our boy Ray had returned from the Grand Canyon where he had been with Dr. Plummer for nearly a week. He spoke in 27th ward chapel this eve. It rained most of the day and was quite general.

17 June 1929 • Monday

Cold day.

Mother & I took Ray down to the Mission home for 7:00 A.M. devotional, thence to the Temple where I had a busy day.

Ray went through the Temple for his endowments in 1: P.M. company to-day.

18 June 1929 • Tuesday

I attended to my temple work as usual. Sat apart ten missionaries &c A busy day.

19 June 1929 • Wednesday

Attended to my duties at the Temple as usual. Spent the evening at home.

20 June 1929 • Thursday

Attended to my duties at the Temple. Attended meeting at 9:00, 9:30 & 10:00 A.M.

21 June 1929 • Friday

Attended to my duties at the Temple as usual. Had a busy day.

Arose at 4:30 A.M. Cut the lawn, played golf with Geo. & LeGrand & home at 7:30.

Attended Temple meeting, had about 12 or 15 sealings of living couples. [page break]

22 June 1929 • Saturday

I spent the forenoon in Town.

Pres. Grant called me into his office to consult with the Presidency. I left in my auto. at 12: noon for Morgan & with me my wife my Son Ray and daughter Nina & children. The trip was made in 1 hr, 50 min. Distance, Mt. Road 50 miles. I attended Morgan Stake Conference, the first session beginning at 2:00 P.M. I occupied an hour of the time with good freedom. We returned home after meeting via Ogden & saw Edna.

23 June 1929 • Sunday

My son LeGrand accompanied me in my car to Morgan where we attended and spoke at both 10: A.M. & 2:00 P.M. sessions. We returned home after meeting. We had a happy good time-

24 June 1929 • Monday

We had a busy day at the Temple, many marriages. 653 went through in the evening.

Mother & I remained until abt 9:00 P.M. We of Richards Motor co. have had intimated by DeSoto District Manager [blank] that when our yearly contract expires Dec 1,st that the agency will be taken from us and be given to Browning Bros. because of their long association with the Chrisler interests through their handling the Wylie’s Knight and Overland cars & because of the Financial strength of the Company. This being as they represent an unusual opportunity for the co. [page break] My four sons met Mr. [blank] at 10:30 P.M. and registered a vigorous protest.

25 June 1929 • Tuesday

I went to the Temple as usual when I solemnized several marriages, and attended to desk work &c.

26 June 1929 • Wednesday

I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual. We had one of the biggest days ever in point of no. of marriages, about 65 in number.

27 June 1929 • Thursday

Attended Temple meeting, meeting of the Twelve at 9:30 and at 10:30 a meeting of the Presidency & Twelve. I attended to the sealing of living & had a busy day. In the evening I attended Eric Olan’s Farewell Testimonial.

28 June 1929 • Friday

I was speaker at the Temple meeting. Attended to my sealing work &c.

Had a busy day. To. day is the Closing day for endowments until Aug 12,

In the evening, having complimentary tickets I went to the wrestling match & took Ray with me.

29 June 1929 • Saturday

I spent seven or eight hours working on the lawn, digging dandelions &c. I felt the effects of the over doing for days thereafter. Retired early.

30 June 1929 • Sunday

I took train to Payson leaving S Lake at 5:55 A.M. [page break] I was met at Payson by Pres Birch of Tintic Stake Conference and taken to Goshen where the Tintic Stake Conference was. held. I spoke at both public meetings and after meeting rode to Provo with Pres Birch and from there took Electric train for Salt Lake arriving about 7:35. Spent the evening at home.
