Malad.
Warm day.
I attended 10:00 A.M. & 2:00 P.M. Conference meetings and spoke at the latter. Commended the people for their faithfulness & accomplishment. Advised the people to use this bounteous harvest and the practice of economy as a means of getting out of debt, &c.
I spent about two hours in meeting with the Stake Presidency and Stake Clerk giving advice and instruction, suggesting a number of means to better the work in the Stake.

Warm weather.
I attended and spoke at both the morning and afternoon meetings I called attention to the need the Church has for the influence and assistance in service of the young and related my experience in administering to my mother when but 17 yrs of age showing that the Lord respects the young as well as the old. I spoke of the two powers extant suggested by the Choir singing “The nature’s bow to Satans Throll.”
In the afternoon I took as my text What is necessary for us to do in order to obtain Salvation: (Faith & Works). The Gospel likened unto a garden.
At 12:15 I attended a meeting of the Seventy and made remarks I fasted, abstaining from food & drink until after the afternoon meeting. [page break] The Lord helped me and I was blessed exceedingly.
Dr. Richards, son of Pres. Wm H. Richards drove us to Deweyville about 30 miles distant to get Electric train and we reached Salt Lake at 9:45 P.M.

Warm day.
I was made aware this morning that a patch of plaster on the south west wall of the Garden room of the Temple is about to fall so made arrangements to have it taken off and replastered & painted. I went to the Temple in the morning, where I spent a busy day.
Joel took Mother & me with his family for a ride in the evening.
4 August 1925 • Tuesday
I went to the Temple as usual. We have the painters, cleaners, plasterers, auditors &c at work & I have Dinwoodey’s Linoleum man over to see defective linoleum laid last year. A piece of plaster about ten or twelve feet square has been removed from the west wall of the Garden room South of the west entrance to-day on account of its coming loose. When replastered & dry, it will have to be painted to conform. We have sketches of the whole wall and pin pricked patterns taken as a preventive at considerable expense last year.
At about 5:30 P.M. Mother, Orin, Geo L. and I went down to Sarah’s and [page break] stowed away her furniture &c in an upstairs room by her request.

I went to the Temple in the morning as usual. Attended to correspondence, including the writing of letters, one to my daughter Sarah and the other to Oliver. Gave some supervision to the work at the Temple &c.
6 August 1925 • Thursday
I went with Alice to Auerbach’s and bought her a white dress, $21.75. Attended weekly Council meeting from 10 A.M. to 1:4 P.M. Attended funeral services for J. J. McClellan in the Tabernacle, which was practically filled below & above.
Attended to desk work at the Temple &c In the evening Geo. T & family and Mother and I went out for an Auto ride.

I went to the Temple in the morning as usual, where I spent the day until about 4:00 P.M.
My son LeGrand & Ina & Marion, Geo & Edith & Mother & I went to the American Theater as LeGrand’s guests after 9:00 P.M.

On account of the Richards Family Reunion to be held this afternoon at Liberty Park and the funeral of Sarah E. Richards Robinson tomorrow, I have been released from my appointment to Jordan [page break] Stake Conference which is being held to-day and to-morrow.
I went to the Temple in the morning where I was busily engaged until 3:00 P.M. I visited at 80 L. St, Lucy Richards Reed where I saw her mother Sarah E. R. Robinson lying in state. Called and administered to Sister Boggs at the Kent home.
Attended the Richards Family Reunion held at Liberty Park and afterward Mother & I went for an auto ride.
9 August 1925 • Sunday
Attended funeral services for my Sister Sarah E. R. Robinson, held in 28th ward house. I offered prayer in the home 80 L. St.
Lucena’s birth day and we were feted at Nerva’s on that acct.
Mother & I took dinner with Joel & Georgina. Geo F. Jr took us down to Nervas and with him in taking Estella Lee home in Sugar House.
Estella returned from Bear Lake where she & Pen Taylor, Chas & Edna & Ruby & Jack have been spending the week.
10 August 1925 • Monday
This is my daughter Nerva’s birth day anniversary, 41 yrs. I went to the Temple in the morning as usual. My son George took dinner with me and after dinner I spent several hours inspecting autos with the thought of buying one. I rode out in the Lafayette, the Marmon and the Franklin. In the evening Geo. F. Jr, Mother & I went to a show with Nerva & Geo. L. [page break]

Rainy.
I spent some time at my desk at home in the morning, went with my son George to see a Franklin car at Taylor Motor Co. quarters and made an offer of what it was thought the owner would accept for the car. Pen. Taylor was to consult the owner for me. Later I got word that my offer of $850.00 was accepted. I made a check in favor of the owner Mrs. Myrla French Moore and gave to Pen. Taylor who was to send it to her with bill of sale to be signed It will cost me something to have the car put into first class condition.
I wrote to my son Oliver. Mother & I spent the evening with Chas. & Edna, at their apartment home, the Buckinghams
12 August 1925 • Wednesday
My son Joel & I administered to Sister Baggs. I sealed Frank Alexander and Johanna Weiss. I spent most of the day in the Temple and left for home after 5 o’clock. Mother & I went down to Sugar House with Orin & Nina to see their new house in cours of construction.
13 August 1925 • Thursday
Attended regular Council meeting from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. and met with the Twelve after. Attended to some desk work &c. Ruby & Jack came from their home in Cornish to spend a few days. Geo. F. Jr. took them, Mother and me and LeGrand & Ina to a show in the evening, Pantages. [page break]

I took 7:20 A.M. car for the Temple At 10:00 A.M. we met as Temple workers in the world room, 239 strong in meeting. Pres. Grant was present and spoke a few minutes. Other speakers were Jos. F. Smith, Albert W. Davis, Israel Call and Zeb Jacobs of Canada. A good and successful meeting.

Accompanied by J G. Kimball, I went to Spanish Fork where I attended the two sessions of the Palmira Stake Conference and spoke at the morning session but got cut out of the afternoon talk. Met with the Stake Presidency after 4’ o’clock for an hour and returned home on the 5:30 train. I spoke of the too frequent use of the name of Deity in preaching and of profanity. Talked to the boys. Subj. The future ministry of the Church. A better, more faithful and more efficient ministry is desired.

Bro Kimball went to Spanish fork and Attended the Palmira Stake Conference, continued from yesterday. We both spoke at each meeting and I attended a meeting of the Presidency, High Council & Bps. & addressed the meeting. I set apart two High Counselors, ordaining one of them a High Priest.
I spoke of the Principle Love & Service The home, a symbol of our Heavenly home & ties. What will make us one & what it [page break] is that divides us. Except ye are one &c. We took the 5:30 train for home Arrived home at 8 7:45. i.e. in S.L.C.

I spent most all day with my Franklin Car learning to drive it. Took Mother, Ruby, Nina and her children for a ride towards evening.

I spent another busy day at the Temple. The Temple opens for endowments to-day. Slim attendance.
I sealed ten or twelve couples & some children to parents, living.
19 August 1925 • Wednesday
I took my Franklin car with me down town for the first time to work. I parked it in East alley opposite the Temple by permission of the Presiding Bishopric. Mother & Rega rode with me. I sealed 30 couples an 25 children to parents. Estella & Pen took Mother & me for a ride in my Franklin car.
20 August 1925 • Thursday
I spent a busy day at the temple until about 4:00 P.M. Attended weekly Council meeting and sealed seventeen couples & a number of children.
Mother & I with our Franklin, took Charles & Edna for a ride and then took them to Utah Hotel Cafeteria to supper. Ray was with as us. [page break]

I took Mother, Estella & Ray with me in the Franklin down town to work after 8:00 A.M. Ray & I took a ride down to the Park before 8: A.M.
Attended the usual 8:30 A.M. Temple meeting and presided as I usually do. Attended and spoke at the funeral services of Richard S. Horn held at 12 o’clock, noon, in the 18th ward Chapel. There were seven or eight speakers including Pres. Grant and Pres. Ivins.

I took 8:15 train for Provo and arrived at 10:00 A.M. and attended the Utah Stake Conference forenoon and afternoon. At the forenoon meeting there were present 658 out of a population of 11,230 or 5% I occupied 30 min. Bearing false witness, tale bearing &c. Service tends to increase unity & love.
At 2 P.M. meeting I occupied 30 min. Thy will be done. War in Heaven &c. The war is still on. Whom will we serve? After meeting I spent about 1½ hours with the Stake Presidency to profit. Returned on 6 P.M. train.
23 August 1925 • Sunday
I took my Franklin car and with me Mother, Charles & Edna and went to Provo where I attended the Utah Stake Conference. At the morning meeting I occupied 35 minutes with good liberty on the Gospel. Defined it & read from Commentators on Heb. 6:1–4.
At the afternoon meeting I occupied [page break] 30 mins on Gospel requirements & Faith & Works. Religion as a garden, &c. After meetings we drove home in the Franklin. I drove down & back.
24 August 1925 • Monday
I attended to some business at the Auto Service shops and had my car washed & cleaned. Went to the Temple and attended to correspondence. Met several people and answered questions &c. Spent two hours in Franklin Shop while a service man was working on the light lock getting it unlocked. Took Mother, Estella & Pen riding between 7:30 & 9 P.M. and all four of us went to the Paramount as Estella’s guests.

I wrote to Sarah.
I went to the Temple early and was kept busy there except while over to the Church offices where I set apart 6 missionaries and instructed a large company. Left the Temple for home about 8 P.M.
26 August 1925 • Wednesday
Rained afternoon.
I went to the Temple at 7:40 and remained until about 7:40 P.M. Had a busy day. I sealed about 30 couples and more than that number of children to parents. Answered letters and personal interviews &c. Attended my Circle meeting in the early evening and later Mother & I attended the Wilks with Pen & Estella. I wrote to Oliver. All well. [page break]

I went to the Temple as usual and attended weekly Council Meeting from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M., except while I was attending to the sealing of nine couples and 10 children, living.
Mother & I visited Aunt Julina Smith who is in bed with a broken leg resulting from a fall. I spent the evening at home retiring early.
28 August 1925 • Friday
I went to the Temple as usual where I spent most of the day. In the afternoon I took for a ride in the Franklin Mother, Nerva, Lucena & Nina & Kenneth. I returned to the temple where I remained until time to take the 7:15 P.M. train for Calienta, thence to Panaca where the Moapa Conference is to be held tomorrow & next day. My son George & family, with my car called for me at the Temple and took me to the station.

Arrived in Calienta at 6:50 A.M.
I was met at about 8:00 A.M. by Bp. F. E. Wadsworth of Panaca and taken in his car to Panaca about 16 miles where the Moapa Stake Conference was held.
I spoke at the 10:00 A.M. and 2 P.M. meetings and was in council with the Stake Presidency and with them and others from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. At the morning session I occupied 20 min. Subject: Why our people came west. Why they came to Panaca & Moapa, a type of our coming here from the other world. We came [page break] to do the will of Him who sent us. Have the present generation forgotten the purpose of our coming.
At afternoon meeting I occupied 25 min. Subject: Thy will be done &c.

Warm day
I spoke at both morning and afternoon meetings of Conference with much liberty of thought and expression, may the Lord be praised.
In the forenoon meeting, I occupied 45 minutes. Subject: First Article of Faith Disappointment and sorrows resulting from our own neglect or our wrong doing. Examples.
At the afternoon meeting I occupied about 40 min. Subject: Who are entitled to hold office & priesthood & to go to the Temple. Qualifications necessary. The people should be taught in advance that they may be prepared. I slept at the home of Bro & Sis Wadsworth, the parents of the Bishop. I ate breakfast with them and three other meals while in town I took with the Bishop. I assisted in setting apart a number of officers.
Bp. Wadsworth took me to Calienta where I took train at 6:30 P.M. for home.

Arrived home at 6:15 A.M.
Attended to work at home in the forenoon. Cut & watered the Lawn. Moved the fence at the back so as to make the entering of the barn garage more easily. Bro. Gibbs consented & helped some. [page break] I went to the temple in the afternoon and attended to several errands downtown &c.
