I was busy attending meetings &c from 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. and took 5:30 P.M. train for home. I spoke at the morning and afternoon sessions and set apart & ordained a number of officers, viz. two H. Counselors 2 full Bishoprics including clerks and one presidency of a Branch, three Presidents of 202nd Quo. Seventy, the heads of all the auxiliary association of the Twin Falls ward. We effected the consolidation without opposition. At the morning meeting the Rev. Mr Nutting and two other ministers were present and I spoke 25 min. having them in mind. A strenuous day.
2 August 1926 • Monday
Arrived in S. Lake at 7:00 A.M. from Twin Falls. My Son Ray met me at the train with the Franklin and I took Sisters Hart & Davis to their homes. I spent part of the day at the Temple, and in the afternoon I took my car and with me, Mother, Jack & Ruby & with Clarence & family went up Mill Creek Canyon, above the Lodge & account of the rain we returned to Liberty park and ate our lunch.
3 August 1926 • Tuesday
I spent some time at the Temple and went shopping with Mother & Nerva and each bought a dress & I paid for them Nerva is going to make a white dress for [illegible] [page break]
4 August 1926 • Wednesday
I took mother, Jack & Ruby in my car up City Creek canyon to the Pavilion in Rotary park and back soon after noon. I have stomach pains
5 August 1926 • Thursday
I attended the weekly council meeting fasting, Left the Temple after 3 P.M. Went with Mother, Jack, Ruby & Oliver in Jack’s car up City Creek Canyon for supper. Geo & Rega & their families also went along.
I had quite a bad night last. Am better to-day.
6 August 1926 • Friday
I spent hours of time with Sister Richards in hunting for material suitable for making the silk veil of the Temple and could not find any thing satisfactory
I left on 11:10 P.M. train for Burley Stake.
7 August 1926 • Saturday
I arrived in Minidoka at 6:30 A.M. where I was met by Presidents Langlois & Hill and with auto took me to Burley a distance of abt 25 miles. I stayed at Pres Langloisis home. Attended the conference of twin Burley Stake and Spoke at morning leaving afternoon meeting occupying 45 min at each with good freedom. Subjects: The need we have of doing being impressed with the necessity of doing as well as we can, Compare Sectarian doctrines with the true gospel at [page break] our parents did before forsaking their religious creeds. Do they appeal to us as they did to our parents.
By request of Pres. Grant I called on a sister [blank] in Burley and heard her story of how & why she lost her standing in the church. She desires to be reinstated.
During the night I had an attack of nausea and disintery that knocked me out so far as work is concerned.
8 August 1926 • Sunday
Burley.
Being ill from last nights attack I took 9:00 A.M. train for home. Reached Salt Lake at 6:10 P.M. feeling some better.
9 August 1926 • Monday
Mother & I spent about six hours at temple and running about looking for veil material &c. We spent the evening at home.
10 August 1926 • Tuesday
Home.
All well.
Warm day.
I attended to my regular duties & labors as usual.
11 August 1926 • Wednesday
I took my car and brought Nerva, Mamie & Nina up to our home where they spent the day and took them home in the evening. Mother & I took Geo. & Edith for a ride in the evening. [page break]
12 August 1926 • Thursday
I took Alice down to Sugar House in the morning. Attended weekly council meeting. I went down to Sugar House & got Mother, Mamie, Estella Lee & Annie Steed and took them to Farmington to See Lewis Robinson, & at his request I gave him a blessing I took the folks back to Sugar House. LeGrand & Ina took us to the American to the late show.

I spent a busy day at the Temple and the evening at home.
14 August 1926 • Saturday
I spent another busy day at the Temple preparing the veils for the Temple opening &c.
15 August 1926 • Sunday
With Elder Reed Smoot, I attended the meetings in the Grant Stake Tabernacle at 10: A.M. and 7:30 P.M. and spoke at each meeting. At the forenoon meeting I was the last speaker and occupied abt. 15 min. with good liberty. Subject: It required a long time after the discovery of America before the Colonist declared their independence, and a long time thereafter before the church was established and the Gospel restored. The hand of the Lord has been over his work & will continue to be until its consumation. The Prophet Joseph & his associates accomplished a great work, then B. Young & his associates took it up & carried it forward & passed on & so on down to now. If they are looking down on us what do they see. Are they disappointed in us? [page break] Will we be disappointed in our successors. I think not. We should see to it that there will be no disappointment in us, and that we be not disappointed in ourselves.
At the evening meeting I occupied about 30 min. Sub. The Eternity of the marriage covenant. Ye are the salt of the Earth. Come out of her Oh ye my people &c. Be examplars of all that is good and do not follow after Babylon.
16 August 1926 • Monday
I went to the temple at 7:30 for the opening and found all in readiness for the opening for baptisms A busy day with all hands will be necessary in order to finish the upper rooms for tomorrow’s endowments. Spent the evening at home.
17 August 1926 • Tuesday
I had a lengthy and busy day at the Temple. Pres. Daynes of Grant Stake & I set apart the Presidency of the H Priests Quorum & a H. Counselor of that stake. I spent the evening at home.
18 August 1926 • Wednesday
A busy day at the Temple & many marriages. Jos. F. Smith assisted me with the Sealing. Attended my circle meeting in the evening.
19 August 1926 • Thursday
Attended the Temple meeting as usual at 8:30 A.M. & presided. J. F. S. Bro. Keeler, speaker. Attended the weekly Council of the Pres. & Twelve. [page break] Answered a number of questions &c from various persons. &c.
Spent the evening with number of my family at Salt Air.
20 August 1926 • Friday
I attended to my duties at the temple as usual and with members of my family went to Salt Air taking the 6 P.M. train.
21 August 1926 • Saturday
I took my car and went to Sugar House & saw Ina J. who had her tonsils removed yesterday and got Alices Sisters Annie and Estella also sister Caine and took them to the Temple where they worked on the Temple veil, making it over. Alice was with me and supervised the work. Where their day’s work was finished I took them home.
22 August 1926 • Sunday
I was the speaker at the Tabernacle in the afternoon. Pres. Nibley presided. I occupied 55 min. Subject: The apostasy & the Restoration, Joseph’s Story briefly told & commented upon. Compared some sectarian doctrines with the truth and asked if it was to be wondered at that our Fathers forsook such creeds for the true gospel of the Redeemer or that their children should walk in the footsteps of their parents. Showed evidences calculated to convince the stranger & bore my testimony.
At 4:00 P.M. with my car I took Mother, Edna & Spencer & Estella [page break] to Taylor ward, N Weber Stake via Ogden and I was the Speaker at their sacrament meeting, this on invitation of Bp. Gibson. 68% of the ward population was in attendance. I occupied 50 min with Good liberty. Some elements of marriage were discussed & the spirit in which we should do all our work was explained. The Lord helped me and we had a good meeting. We returned safely reaching home at 11:40 P.M.
We went up to the flowing wells that supply Ogden with water. The drive is beautiful, good road, and the wells are a wonder.
23 August 1926 • Monday
I invested $20.00 in oil land leases at Bowie, Ariz to-day. Had good word from the Wilcox Arizona Well. Reported that oil was struck a few days ago.
Mother & I spent a good share of the day at the temple she was working on the Veil Curtain. We had a lengthy letter from our daughter Sarah in Switzerland.
24 August 1926 • Tuesday
I had a busy day at the Temple until about 4:30 P.M. when Mother & I went down to Sugar House and got Nina & her family and brought them up to our home, the baby being ill. Orin later called for them. I later went to a show with members of the family About 10:00 P.M. my son with his Ford Sedan had a collision with Jas. S. Castleton which wrecked both cars & [page break] did serious damage to Sister Castleton. It seems from Ray’s story that Bro Castleton was at fault in the accident.
25 August 1926 • Wednesday
I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual. Sealed 21 couples living & 3 couples dead & 26 children to parents. Mother & I took Ray & his partner Miss Esther Anderson to the Salt Air Depot, called on Edna & Nina. Later— this sequence was Thurs.
26 August 1926 • Thursday
Attended to my duties at the temple and addressed the temple meeting. Attended weekly Council meeting & sealed twenty odd couples.
27 August 1926 • Friday
Attended to my duties at the temple as usual. Had a busy day.
28 August 1926 • Saturday
Mother, George, Edith, Josephine, Robert & I with Chrysler car left home at 5:30 A.M. for Bear Lake and drove to the Artisian Park at the head of Ogden Canyon for breakfast. Arrived there at 7:15 A.M. Had cooked potatoes, fried eggs, chocolate to drink &c. We left the Park at 8:30 and drove through the Ogden Valley, over the mountain to Paradise and to Logan; arriving at Logan at 11:10 A.M. Left Logan at 11:20 and arrived at Fish Haven at 2:10 P.M. Cooked dinner and at 3:40 P.M. left Fish Haven for home via Randolph, Woodruff, Evanston, Echo, Coalville [page break] and Parley’s Canyon arriving in Salt Lake about 10:00 P.M. I enjoyed the ride and the company and was not very tired when I reached home.

I attended a quarterly conference of So. Davis Stake held in Centerville grove. Took dinner with J. H. Robinson & E. B. Clark & their wives at the home of Bp. Tingey.
I spoke at both meetings. At the morning meeting I occupied 35 minutes. Subject: Scouting and addressing myself to the boys told them how that they are expected to prepare & carry on the work of the Lord in a few years because of the kind of preparation needed to be made. Parents duty to children & children to parents. At the 2 P.M. meeting I occupied 50 min on the subject of marriage and denounced men who are teaching plural marriage or performing what they call a marriage with a license. This a penitentiary offence and such should be there confined. I had good liberty and received many compliments. 30 August 1926 • Monday
I went with my son Legrand & Ian to the LDS Hospital and he & I administered to his daughter Mercedes who later was operated upon for appendicitis.
I went with Thos. Collister to see the First Presidency & had him released from [page break] the Sealing work on account of his eyes failing. I suggested Rulon S. Wells to be appointed to seal and to be my counselor. I later took Bro Albert W. Davis to the Presidents office & President Grant gave him his release as my counselor, which Bro Davis accepted gracefully.

I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual and had a busy day. Spent the evening at home. I wrote to Ruby.
