1 September 1925 • Tuesday

I went to the Temple in the morning as usual and presided at the morning meeting. Attended to a number of sealings, and to other necessary work leaving the Temple after 6: P.M. Mother remained and I called for her later with my Car, Nina & children & Orin went with me, then we took Orins Car and went up on the Boulevard, and say the K.K.K. Cross fire on the Mountains and the Ensigne Stake Bonfire & melon bust.1

2 September 1925 • Wednesday

I went to the Temple as usual in the morning and during the day sealed about thirty couples, living and a number of children to parents. After three 3:00P.M. I took my Franklin and with me Alice, Bro Israel Call, Sisters Maria Clark, Annie Steed & Bertha Teasdale and went down to 2275 Lake St. to see Bro Theo. Tobiason. Bro Call & I administered to him. We went on to 3305 Oakwood Ave. to see Bro & Sis Rouck, but they were not at home. Returned to the Temple. Attended my Circle meeting &c. Later Mother and I accepted an invitation from Chas & Edna to go with them to the show, Pantages.

Nina is at our home and not feeling well. She is nearing time of confinement. [page break]

3 September 1925 • Thursday

I went to the Temple in the morning as usual. Presided as usual at the Temple meeting Attended Weekly Council meeting from 10:00 to 3:00 P.M. At this meeting Pres. Grant announced that the Presidency had had under consideration for some time the matter of attempting to open up a mission in South America and had finally decided to call a member of the Council of Twelve, and a member of the First Council of the Seventy and the President of the Mexican Mission to go and do the job. The personnel will be Melvin J. Ballard of the Twelve, Rulon S. Wells of the Seventy & Rey L. Pratt of the Mexican Mission.

I received appointment to the North Weber Conference Sat & Sun. Sep. 13th. I sealed twelve or fifteen couples living.

4 September 1925 • Friday

I spent an exceedingly busy day at the Temple. I took Mother with me to the LDS Hospital and visited my daughter Nina who gave birth to a 7 lb. baby boy as 12:30 this A.M. I administered a blessing to Bro Wm Morton who was in the Hospital.

5 September 1925 • Saturday

I attended to several items of business about town and attended to some work at the Temple, correspondence, &c. Went to [page break] the Hospital to see my daughter Nina who seems to be getting on nicely.

6 September 1925 • Sunday

I spent the morning hours at home studying and soon after 11:00 A.M. I left with, Alice & her sisters Sarah, Annie, & Estella in my Franklin car for Farmington where we visited with other members of the Robinson Family at at 2:00 P.M. attended the funeral services for Aunt Ester Robinson. I was one of the speakers & occupied about 25 min. We took Alice’s sister Maria with us to the Cemetery and after the burial they all came home with us and took supper and spent the evening after which I took them to Annie’s home except Estella whom I took to her home in Sugar House. We called and saw Clarence and Mamie.

7 September 1925 • Monday

Labor Day.

I went to the Temple in the morning as usual where I attended to desk work &c. I went out to Sugar House and got Estella Lee & called at Aunt Annie Steeds on 15th So. St. and got her, Maria and Sarah Jane and brought them up to our home where James Henry & Oliver Legrand & their wives met them and they spent a part of the afternoon and evening & took supper.

On Eleventh East & South of 13th So. as I was following another auto in an attempt to pass a street car as he turned out in head of the 4 car [page break] I saw a car parked about two feet from the curb and before I could get stopped, I jammed between the auto, a Ford, and the street car and bent my front fender badly and knocked the cap of the front axle that holds the grease in. No bump. I just lacked about 6 inches having enough room to pass. Thankful no one was hurt and no more serious damage done to the car. I learned a lesson through it by which I hope to profit in the future.

8 September 1925 • Tuesday

Set apart 5 missionaries of a company.

I took my car to the Geo. Barlow Shop to have its fender repaired on my way to the Temple. Presided at the Temple as usual. Sealed 8 or 10 couples. Attended to desk work &c. Visited the Hospital and administered to Ina who was taken there for confinement. I made two trips to the Hospital.

9 September 1925 • Wednesday

I went to the Temple in the early morning as usual. I still take my morning bath in cold water and feel invigorated thereby. I doubt not my health is better therefore. I sealed 29 couples, living marriages. Attended wedding breakfast of Alice Lee. Attended my Circle meeting, called on Mamie & on Ina at their homes. Ina was taken home this morning from the Hospital. A false alarm. Nina is getting along nicely. Others well. Letters from Ruby & Oliver report themselves well. Attended H.J.G. & Co. D.M. [page break]

10 September 1925 • Thursday

I went to the Temple as usual and after the temple meeting in the morning, I attended weekly Council meeting. I sealed seven couples in the 2nd Co. Visited my daughter Nina at the L.D.S. Hospital.

11 September 1925 • Friday

I presided at the 8:30 A.M. Temple meeting as usual. Sealed 13 couples. Attended to other important work at the temple and later at home.

My daughter Nina came to our house from the Hospital, her baby being but one week old. Ruby came from Cornish to nurse her. I met Ruby at the Station with my car, Mother & Edna accompanying me, at 6:10 P.M.

12 September 1925 • Saturday

I called at the Wasatch Battery Co. and got my car battery which they had been charging. No charge pressure. Went to the Temple where I spent most of the day, letter writing, studying, &c.

13 September 1925 • Sunday

All well.

I took 8:06 A.M. Electric train for Ogden where I attended North Weber Stake Conference held in Ogden Tabernacle. I spoke at both forenoon and afternoon meetings. Subject 30 min in forenoon, Faith in God & Jesus Christ necessary to salvation. Read Beacher & Napoleins utterances. Pre-existance understood leads no place for evolution or reincarnation. Afternoon 40 min. We should be good and do good for our own salvation’s sake and because of its effects upon others &c. [page break]

At 1:20 P.M. I met the Presidency of the Stake & clerk, Pres Bluth is in Nevada. In the evening I spoke in the 12th ward of Ogden by previous arrangement. Pres Burton of Mt Ogden Stake spoke briefly and said what he desired to know is what are my obligations to the Lord & to do them. I took that as my text and spoke for 40 min. with good liberty. The Lord helped me this day. I got home at 11:00 P.M.

14 September 1925 • Monday

I took 9:00 A.M. Electric in Company with Pres Rudger Clawson for for Dewville where we were met by Arthur R. Capener and we were taken to his home in Garland where we had dinner and then went to Tremonton I rode down & back with my brother Myron. Attended the funeral services of President Peter M. Hansen held in the Stake Tabernacle at Garland and was one of the 9 speakers occupying 20 min with good liberty. We returned reaching Salt Lake at 7:40 P.M.

15 September 1925 • Tuesday

I went to the Temple as usual in the morning and presided at the Temple meeting. Attended to sealing of living couples & children and to desk work &c. In the evening I took the car & Mother with me and visited my Sister Nerva and my daughter Minerva.

16 September 1925 • Wednesday

Windy

I went to the Temple as usual in the morning. Presided as usual at the Temple meeting, attended to the sealing of living couples & children, twenty five [page break] couples + 2 couples later. I attended my prayer circle in the evening.

17 September 1925 • Thursday

I went to the Temple in the morning as usual. Left my car at Franklin Motor Co. Shops to have the wheels changed to demountable rims and baloon tires at a cost of $152.00 + and labor about $12.00 to include five tires & rims. I to retain old tires.

I attended weekly Council meeting in the Temple, sealed a number of living couples &c.

In the evening I took Mother, Ruby, Lucena & Rega for a ride. Called at Mamie’s in Sugar House and visited for about an hour.

18 September 1925 • Friday

Wind & Rain.

I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual. Attended to some business outside. At 5 P.M. I took Jos Fielding Smith & wife & daughter and mother for a ride. We went to see the new house they are having built near Yale on 13th East or off 13th.

19 September 1925 • Saturday

I spent part of the day at the Temple working at my desk and part at home studying.

20 September 1925 • Sunday

I spent the forenoon studying and preparing for my evening talk at Ogden.

Leaving home at 2:20 P.M. I took Ruby to Brigham where she met Jack at 5:30. She went [page break] on to Cornish and we, Mother, Ray, Charles & Edna, returned to Ogden and attended meeting by previous appointment in the 7th ward where I was the speaker and occupied one hr, 15 min with good liberty upon the Subject of Genealogy & Temple work. We went to the Home of Bro & Sis Calderwine with a number of others and had refreshments & a brief visit. We reached home at 12 o’clock midnight having had a successful trip in the Franklin. It rained a good share of the day.

21 September 1925 • Monday

Stormy.

I took my car to the T.R.M. Co. place of business and had it washed, got gas & oil.

Went to the Temple where I was busy at my desk until six o’clock.

22 September 1925 • Tuesday

I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual in the forenoon. I took Mother and Lucena & her children Delpha & Willard down to Sugar House where we visited briefly my daughters Nerva, Mamie, & Ina at their homes. In the evening I went to the American Show with Mother, Nerva, & Geo L. & Rega & Lucena.

23 September 1925 • Wednesday

I went to the Temple as usual in the morning. Attended to my usual work of sealing & sealed 15 couples & some children. Attended to [page break] other important work at my desk &c.

Attended Circle.

24 September 1925 • Thursday

I attended to my temple work as usual and attended weekly Council meeting from 10: A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Spent the evening at home.

25 September 1925 • Friday

All well.

I went to the Temple in the morning as usual, where I attended to my usual work. Spent the evening at home making ready to leave in the early morning for Hyrum.

26 September 1925 • Saturday

With my Franklin Sedan Car I left Salt Lake at 6:00 A.M. for Hyrum making the entire distance in 3 hrs 15 min without a stop. Brother Frank Seegmiller, Ethel Smith, Ann M. Cannon and Helen Davis accompanied, me. After the afternoon meeting I drove to Cornish where I stayed all night at the home of my daughter Ruby. Had a good visit with Ruby & Jack. Had good conference meetings though the attendance was slack.

27 September 1925 • Sunday

Cornish to Hyrum.

Am well.

I left Cornish at 8:00 A.M. and drove to Hyrum where I attended the Stake Conference and spoke at each session. After the close of the Conference Bro.. Seegmiller & I returned to Salt Lake in four hours time. No mishaps. While in Hyrum I [page break] I took dinner Sat. & Sun. at the home of Sister Critchlow, mother-in-law of Dunford M. Beckman of the Stake Presidency, his wife assisted with the work.

28 September 1925 • Monday

I took my car to the service garage, 50 west on 3rd So. to have the cylinders ground &c. My son went with me. We made a test of the mileage register on two mile drive and found it registering 1/10 too much, due, I suppose, to the change from ordinary Pneumatic to Baloon tires.

Went to the Temple where I attended to my desk work, &c. Put in a full day.

29 September 1925 • Tuesday

I went to the Temple in the early morning as usual. Attended Quarterly meeting of the Twelve in the Temple from 9:30 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. Attended to my desk work after. Left the Temple at 8:35 and with Mother went to the Paramount with Orin & Nina.

30 September 1925 • Wednesday

I took 7:35 car for my work at the Temple where I attended and presided at the Temple meeting, sealed 18 or 20 couples living and 56 couples of the dead, of the Woods-Robinson Family. Attended Circle meeting in the evening.
