1 April 1927 • Friday

I was in the Temple from 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 P.M. 15 hours. Attended Temple meeting at 8:30 and missionary meeting from 9:30 to 5: P.M. I had sealings from both evening Companies.

2 April 1927 • Saturday

I spent most of the day in the Temple working on Temple ordinances. Bro J. A. Widtsoe assisted me a couple of hours.

Attended the Ceremonies of the unveiling of the monument to the Three Witnesses to the Book of Mormon at 4:00 P.M.

Spent the evening at home.

3 April 1927 • Sunday

Stormy day.

General Conference opened with two crowded houses. The First Presidency, and several others spoke. See Conference Pamphlet.

In the evening I remained home and heard the SS Union meeting proceedings over the radio. The house crowded. [page break]

4 April 1927 • Monday

I was one of the Speakers at the morning meeting. Occupied 22 min. good liberty. See Con Pamphlet.

Attended two general meetings and the evening Priesthood meeting.

5 April 1927 • Tuesday

Attended the morning meeting. No afternoon meeting. I worked at the Temple on ordinances with Elders Widtsoe & Davis the typist. Attended reception tendered the General authorities & others at the Bps. Building in the evening.

6 April 1927 • Wednesday

I was in the Temple before 8: A.M. Busy until meeting time 10: A.M. when Conference reconvened. I had several of the Temple workers at the Temple proof reading &c. Attended Richards Family Reunion in the evening.

7 April 1927 • Thursday

Attended weekly Counsel meeting. Attended to my duties in the temple. Attended U.I.V. Co Directors Meeting. In the evening Mother & I attended a reception given by Bp. S. Q. Cannon at their home with other General Authorities. We took Pres. & Sis. Clawson in our car.

8 April 1927 • Friday

Mother & I went to the Temple as usual, where I had a busy day. Ruby & Jack Came last night from Cornish, Jack having been laid off from his job to take effect May 1st. He is offered a place on construction @ $125. Mother and I called on Mamie where Ruby and Estella were visiting. [page break]

9 April 1927 • Saturday

I spent a busy day at the temple working on the ordinances. I took Mother, Jack, Ruby, Nerva and Thelma to the Wilkes Theater & saw The Bird of paradise.

10 April 1927 • Sunday

I addressed the Elders of the Second Ward in the forenoon on Genealogy and Temple work. Attended the 27th ward fast meeting. Blessed Joel’s baby girl & named her Helen Maxine, offered the Benediction. In the evening I was the Speaker in the Miller Ward.

11 April 1927 • Monday

I spent a busy day at the Temple

My Son George spent the day and evening with me and Lorenzo Stohl a part of the day working on revision of Ordinances. I sent letters to Prests. Wood of Cardston & Shepherd of Logan temples listing additional changes to be made, they having received their copies of the manuscript.

12 April 1927 • Tuesday

I had a busy day at the Temple Was in the Temple from 8: A.M. to 9:30 P.M. except for about 1½ hrs while setting apart and instructing a company of missionaries.

I went through the Temple in the evening for Alfred Shackleton.

13 April 1927 • Wednesday

I was in the Temple from 8: A.M. to [blank] P.M. except for about 20 min. while going over to the Post office. I attended [page break] my circle meeting and went through the Temple in the second company for Robert Edmundsen of the Longstroth line.

14 April 1927 • Thursday

I attended regular weekly council meeting and the morning temple meeting and attended to my other duties at the Temple during the day and went through the Temple in the evening for John Shackleton.

15 April 1927 • Friday

By appointment I went to Preston and attended the funeral services of Elder Robert C. Geddes and was one of the speakers.

16 April 1927 • Saturday

When I arose in the morning the ground was white with snow and it continued to snow until the middle of the afternoon.

I took my car and went to Tooele and attended Conference meetings returning after meetings. Mother, her sisters Annie & Estella and our daughter Nerva accompanied me. I spoke at both forenoon and afternoon meetings.

17 April 1927 • Sunday

My son George accompanying me, I went to Tooele in my car where I attended the meetings of the Stake Conference and spoke at each meeting. I ordained and set [page break] apart several officers. Returned after the 2: P.M. meeting and attended the evening sacrament meeting in the 27th ward. My son LeGrand was the speaker. After meeting, Mother & I and LeGrand & Ina went home with George & Edith and spent a couple of hours & had luncheon.

18 April 1927 • Monday

I went to the Temple in the morning as usual and attended to important matters.

Mother & I went with LeGrand & Ina to see their new home in Normandy Heights about 6: P.M.

19 April 1927 • Tuesday

When I arrived at the Temple this morning at 8: A.M. I was informed by Israel Call that Bro. [blank] Cram had just dropped dead in the men’s dressing Room. I called Police Headquarters and two officers came and took a record of facts. I also called Jas Wm Taylor, undertaker, and Bro. Cram’s daughter Sister Davis, Later I took Sister Cram to Bro Cranes Sisters home in the N. W. Section of Town.

I called on Pres. Grant and recommended to him the furnishing of the Salt Lake Temple End. rooms with upholstered noiseless chairs. He asked me to ascertain the cost. I proceeded to learn through the Idaho-Utah School supply How much such seats or we need would cost.

In the evening Mother & I went to Sugar House and visited with Nina and family. [page break]

20 April 1927 • Wednesday

Attended to my duties at the Temple as usual, 14 marriages in the second company. I sealed upon [first, middle, maiden, and last names redacted] her former blessings by authorization of Pres. Grant, assisted by Patriarch Hiram M. Taylor.

I this day by letter accepted the resignation of Chas. T Murray as the Auditor of the Salt Lake temple tendered by him in letter of April 11th.

This day my daughter Edna filed suit for divorcement from Chas. T. Murray.

Mother and I went to Ogden by auto in the early evening and brought our daughter Edna with us.

21 April 1927 • Thursday

I attended Temple meeting and the regular weekly Council meeting of the First Presidency and the Twelve, attended to my sealings work as usual.

My Son Oliver was married in the Temple to-day. I performed the ceremony. The afternoon was spent in preparation for the wedding reception in the evening which was held in the Haer Them ward chapel, and it was a success. The wedding breakfast was given by Nina & Orin.

Edna went to Ogden on the 9:00 P.M. train.

22 April 1927 • Friday

Mother and I went to the Temple in the morning as usual. [page break] At 1:00 P.M. I attended and spoke at the funeral services of Victor P. Crane held in the Jefferson ward. I went through the Temple at night and when we got through I assisted Pres. & Sis Grant with a number of proxies in sealing a number of families of children to Parents. I did the sealing & Pres & Sis Grant Stood for the Parents.

23 April 1927 • Saturday

I went by Electric Train to Am. Fork where I attended Alpine Stake Conference two sessions. I spoke at each occupying about 30 minutes at each & had good liberty. While waiting for a train, Bp. G. A. Smith of LeGrand Ward & wife came along in a Parkard Car and brought me to Salt Lake.

24 April 1927 • Sunday

I went by auto to Am. Fork taking Mother with me and attended Alpine Stake Conference. I Spoke at both meetings with good liberty for about 30 min at each. We took dinner with James H. Clark & family. On our way home we called at Nina’s where Edna & Estella were visiting.

25 April 1927 • Monday

Part of the day I spent at the Temple, attending to correspondence &c. I spent some time at the service garage having some repairs made on my car. In the evening Mother & I drove out with Geo & Edith. [page break]

26 April 1927 • Tuesday

Mother and I went to the Temple before 8 o’clock in the morning as usual. Besides my regular work at the Temple I assisted in setting apart a company of missionaries. I offered prayer & Set apart five missionaries. I wrote to Sarah & to Jack & Ruby.

27 April 1927 • Wednesday

Attended to my duties at the Temple until after 2:00 P.M. I took my car & Mother, Nina, Walter & Estella to Ogden & visited with Edna. We returned and I returned the girls to their homes. From Ninas home in Sugar House to Edna’s in Ogden my car registered 45-9 miles & returning round trip 92 miles. I went to the temple on my return.

I delivered to Pres Edward H Snow a full set of the T. O. and the same in parts, for St. George Temple.

28 April 1927 • Thursday

What follows until May 15th is written from memory May 15th & 16th.

This day I attended to my duties at the Temple in the morning, attended weekly Council meeting and later in the day

I took Mother Nina and Estella in the Franklin to Ogden to see Edna. On our return Mother & I returned to the Temple. We spoke to Loreana Stole about getting work for Edna at the Beneficial Life Ins Co. Ogden where she is living and obtained favorable reply. [page break]

29 April 1927 • Friday

With Mother, Oliver, Marie and Ray in my Franklin Car with me and George & Edith & Robert in his car a 50 Chrysler, 4 sylinder, we left for California. We Stayed at night at Beaver. Had car trouble. <Mother & I slept at hotel>

30 April 1927 • Saturday

Beaver. We had car trouble until we reached Cedar. Stayed at St George at night. Mother & I slept at hotel.
