I attended S. School and fast meeting in 27th ward. Made opening talk in meeting by request. Mother & I visited our daughter Nerva & family and Mamie at their homes. I got there two days [illegible]
2 April 1928 • Monday
I spent considerable time at the Temple. Prepared and wrote eleven letters of correspondence. &c I took Mother, Estella Lee & her daughter Lucy to Sugar House. Called on Nina & Estella at their homes.
Attended Quarterly meeting of the Twelve from 9: A.M. to 3:25 P.M.
3 April 1928 • Tuesday
Attended meeting of Mission Presidents with the Twelve & Seventy from 9 A.M. to 2:00 P.M.
Attended Temple meeting in the morning and at 2:320 attended missionary meeting. I set apart five missionaries.
Spent some hours at my desk. Last night it snowed several inches of wet snow and was snowing when I went to the Temple in the morning. Mother went to the Temple with Ray later.
Mother & I left the Temple for home about 8:00 P.M. George & LeGrand called in to see us in the evening.
4 April 1928 • Wednesday
All fairly well. Weather clear.
Mother & I went to the Temple as usual, where we had a busy day. I sealed [page break] twenty living couples and a number of children to parents. Attended my prayer Circle meeting in the evening and later Mother & I attended the Reliefsociety Pageant in the Large Tabernacle.
5 April 1928 • Thursday
I spent most of the day at the Temple. After 5: P.M. I played a game of golf with my son George, Stephen L & Stayner Richards
6 April 1928 • Friday
Conference opens this day. I met with the Twelve and Seventy at 9: A.M. and with these and Stake & mission Presidents at 4:30 P.M.
I attended forenoon and afternoon Conference meetings and was one of the speakers in the afternoon occupying about 23 minutes. Subject: Scouting, evidences of the Gospel’s truth and bore testimony. I stated that I know that Jos. Smith was a true prophet and that this is the work of the Lord and I can prove it to my entire satisfaction. Spoke of the 3 & 8 witnesses and what it means as witness, a— The vision of Joseph, personality of God, apostasy, Restoration & Mother attended the morning session, but was not feeling well. She attended the Choir Concert but came home after 6: P.M. on account of Mothers condition. She was taken faint.

Attended conference meetings including Priesthood meeting at night.
Bought new battery for my car at [page break] Motor Car Equipment Co on a two year’s guarantee.
8 April 1928 • Sunday
I attended both forenoon and afternoon conference meetings in the Tabernacle. Attendance was large and a splendid spirit and excellent instructions were given. In the evening, I took my car and took Edna to her home in Ogden—Mother, Ray & Miss Gallagher & Dorothy Woodbury went with me.
9 April 1928 • Monday
LeGrand & I played a game of golf in the early morning.
I went to the Temple where I spent several hours at my desk. I took Mother down to Nerva’s and took her with us to see Sister Elizabeth Tate who is ill. From there we went to Sugar House and I administered to Mamie’s baby Ray.
We spent the evening home retiring early.
10 April 1928 • Tuesday
Mother and I went to the Temple in the early morning as usual. Pres. E. J. Wood, speaker.
Yesterday I called on Pres. Grant and reported that my son George is just now out of business and if needed as a mission President could probably go better now than after he gets established in some other business. I suggested that it will be four years next month since Elder Charles Hyde [page break] left for the Australian mission. Pres. Grant said that the thing giving the Presidency Concern is what Bro. Hyde will find to do when he comes home. The President had thought of George and mentioned the fact to his counselors before now, as a mission President.
Mother & I remained in the Temple from 8:15 A.M. to 6:30 P.M.
This is Oliver’s birth day, 24 yrs old. On his invitation Mother & I went to a show with him & Marie in the evening. We made him a present of $5.00. George called in to see us after the Show.
11 April 1928 • Wednesday
Mother & I went to the Temple as usual. I did the speaking at the Temple meeting. We had a busy day at the Temple. Mother and I spent a couple of hours at J. G. McDonalds home from 6:20 to 8:20 P.M. with other General Authorities and their wives. A splendid dinner was served. At 8:30 we went to the Wilkes shows as guests of our Son LeGrand.
12 April 1928 • Thursday
Attended Temple meeting at 8:30 A.M. and a meeting of the Council of the First Presidency & the Twelve from 10: A.M. to 1: P.M. I was with the Twelve until about 2:40 P.M. At 6: P.M. Mother and I attended a function given in Hotel Utah by the wives of the Presidency and the Twelve in honor of Pres J E Talmage & wife who recently returned from their European mission. [page break]
13 April 1928 • Friday
I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual. Estella is preparing to move to Tremonton and having sent her household effects by auto Truck, she is visiting the family folks and Mother spent the day with them. She came to the Temple for the evening work I had sealing work in the evening By appointment, my Sons LeGrand, Joel & Oliver and their wives came to the temple in the evening and I did the sealing. We sealed 42 couples. After this I did some sealing work for Pres. Grant assisting him. It was 10:30 P.M. when I left the Temple.
14 April 1928 • Saturday
I took D & R G train at 7:55 A.M. and arrived in Grand Junction at 6:45 P.M. Pres. Elias S. Woodruff accompanied me. Pres. Knight who had come from Denver met us at the depot. We put up at the Del Court? Hotel. Attended a public meeting in the evening more that a hundred people present. I occupied the last 45 min. of the meeting with good liberty. Subject Missionary work should be done by every person as soon as baptized. The provisions of the gospel made for the dead to have the Gospel taught them and to have the ordinances performed for them vicariously. &c.

I attended a missionary meeting at 8: A.M., a public meeting at 10: A.M. and a public meeting again at 7:30 P.M. I spoke at each of these meetings occupying about 50 min each with good liberty, may the Lord be praised. I assisted in setting apart the Branch Presidency and ordaining two deacons.
I sat up at the Station until after one A.M. o’clock when I got train No. 1. for Home.
16 April 1928 • Monday
On the train from 1:15 A.M. to 11:15 A.M. Coming from Grand Junction Spencer Taylor met me at the Station. Later I took my car and with mother went to Ogden to see Edna, she being ill. We found her in bed with a sore throat and fever 103° <I> Spent about 3½ hrs. there gave her a blessing and returned home leaving Mother with Edna.
17 April 1928 • Tuesday
I had my car greased at Franklin’s Attended to my duties at the Temple as usual. Phoned Mother at Edna’s Ogden & learned that Edna is better and that Mother will be down this evening. Later: I met with my sons George, LeGrand and Joel at LeGrands office where we talked over Chrysler business. I met mother at the 6:40 P.M. train from Ogden. Edna is improving. [page break]

I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual. I took a treatment from Dr Nelson for lameness. Mother took 3: P.M. train for Ogden.
19 April 1928 • Thursday
I attended Temple meeting and from 10: A.M. to 2:30 P.M. was with the Presidency & the Twelve in Temple meeting except while lunching and doing the Sealing of about six couples. I left for Ogden with my Franklin car and at 3:40 with Mamie and Nina & some of their children. We brought Mother home with us. Edna much improved. We were 1:10 one hr. 10 min going up and about the same time returning.
20 April 1928 • Friday
Stormy day & night. Mother and I went to the Temple as usual at 8: A.M. We went home for a couple of hours in the early evening and returned to the temple as I had sealing work to do. I sealed 52 children to parents to children for Pres. Grant after the first session came through. I had and did other sealings including marriage after the last session
21 April 1928 • Saturday
I spent the forenoon at home. Took 4:00 P.M. train for Ogden. From there I took buss to Logan— Arrived at 7:45 P.M. Attended Stake Priesthood meeting and occupied about 50 minutes, principally on the Ministry of the Ch. [page break] President Oliver Budge not present on account of the fact that his brother Ezra had died. His counselors conducted the Conference meetings.
22 April 1928 • Sunday
Arrangements were made for me [to] stay at Eccles Hotel where I had every needed comfort. These were but two public meetings held & I spoke at both occupying about 50 min. at each with good freedom
After meeting and by appointment, Jack & Ruby met me in Logan and took me to Cornish & from there Ruby & I took 7:10 P.M. O.S.L. Train, arriving in Salt Lake at 10:45 P.M. We were met by Joel & Mother in auto. Ruby is going to aid Mother in house cleaning.
23 April 1928 • Monday
A beautiful day. This is my Son George’s birth-day. LeGrand Suggested a game of golf so at the noon hour he, George & I played a nine hole game. George made the best record of his life to date 46 strokes, I made it in 52 and LeGrand in 55. LeGrand usually makes a better record. I have been troubled with lameness since our last game of two weeks ago to-day, but this game did not seem to hurt me. I made two trips down town and attended to several items of business. Spent some time in the Temple attending to correspondence &c. Mother, Ruby & I took dinner with [page break] George & Edith in the evening.
I talked with Mother and of the children, Geo., LeGrand, Ruby, Mamie, & Nina about selling the home on account of our family being so small for such a small house. They and Mother agreed with me that we would do well to seell if we could get about what it is worth. Accordingly, I told the boys both of whom are in the Real Estate business to list the home for sale.
24 April 1928 • Tuesday
Mother and Ruby are house cleaning. I went to the Temple as usual. Attended to my duties at the Temple until in the afternoon I went home and got Mother & Ruby & took them down town and went with my son Ray and had his eyes tested by Dr E. C. Keller. He will have to have eye muscles treatments for several weeks.
25 April 1928 • Wednesday
Mother is still house cleaning. I went to the Temple as usual. B. S. young was the Speaker at Temple m. I sealed 19 living couples.
It was about 5: P.M. when I went home and took Mother & Ruby to see rooms in the Hill Crest Apartments. Spent the evening at home.
I wrote to my daughter Edna in Ogden.
26 April 1928 • Thursday
I was in the Temple before 8:00 A.M. Bp. Thomas A. Clawson of 18th ward speaker Attended to my regular work, [page break] except while in meeting with the Presidency & Twelve i.e. 10: A.M. to 2:30 P.M.

I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual.
28 April 1928 • Saturday
I took 11:15 A.M. train for Kolob. Arrived about 1:15 Springville. Attended opening meeting of the Kolob Stake and spoke about 30 min. After meeting I met with the Stake Presidency at Pres. Maycocks home until train time 5:40 P.M.
29 April 1928 • Sunday
On invitation, my Son LeGrand, Ina, Mercedes, Nona & Alden with their car took me to Springville. We attended forenoon and afternoon meetings and LeGrand & I each spoke. We took dinner with Presidents Bringhurst and between meetings saw the School art exhibits.
We returned in time for me to attend the evening meeting of the Pioneer Stake Conference and I was one of the Speakers.
Clarence & Mamie went to Ogden & took Ruby who was there met by her husband. Mother accompanied them to Ogden & return.
30 April 1928 • Monday
I attended a committee meeting of four of the Twelve & others at 8:30 A.M. Went to the Temple and attended to correspondence &c. My son LeGrand [page break] and I played a game of golf the first we have played on the newly planted greens. I made the 9 holed in 49 strokes, he made it in 50. We [e]ach got two holes and five were ties. A very interesting game. I think I have played as good a game but once before.
In the evening Mother and I went through the Temple for endowments, and I did considerable sealing after we got through. Some was for President Grant, he having gone through the Temple in the Same company with several members of the family accompanying. This is the first Monday that Endowments have been rendered.
On account of the Church Priesthood classes or quorums coming on Tuesday nights throughout the Church, by permission of the Presidency we will do no more Endowment work on Tuesday evening but will do so Mondays instead.
