I attended Temple meeting and from 9:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. was in session with Mission Presidents. Called on Stephen & Irene. I sealed two couples in the evening, one in each session. a busy day.
2 October 1926 • Saturday
I attended the funeral services of Jos. Richards, the 14 yr old son of Stephen L. and Irene Richards held in the 18th ward chapel. I also went with my car to the burial in Wasatch Cemetery.
3 October 1926 • Sunday
Stormy.
Attended the two sessions of General Conference and the Priesthood <Unit> meeting in the evening. Had to dinner with us Prests. S. O. Bennion and Chas. A. Callis.
4 October 1926 • Monday
I attended the two regular sessions of Conference and the Priesthood meeting in the evening. I spoke at the A.M. session. Had good liberty. [page break]
5 October 1926 • Tuesday
Attended the two sessions of the General Conference which adjourned at 4:40 P.M.
In the evening Mother and I attended a reception in the Bps. Bldg. tendered by the First Presidency.
6 October 1926 • Wednesday
I took my car and with me Alice, Geo & Edith and went to Brigham City and attended the funeral services for Calvin W. Richards and was one of the speakers. We followed the auto cortege to Farmington where the burial took place. Attended my temple meeting in the morning before going. In the evening Mother & I attended a banquet tendered the Gen. Authorities & their wives at Hotel Utah by Pres C. W. Nibley.

Attended temple meeting and weekly meeting of the Presidency & the Twelve. The Seventies were invited in and the question of the Seventies work was descussed, no conclusion reached.
8 October 1926 • Friday
I spent about 3 hours in the temple. A busy day and evening. I wrote my dau. Sarah.
9 October 1926 • Saturday
I spent the forenoon at home making repairs abt. home, cleaning [page break] my car &c. Received a load of blocks from the P.B.O.
10 October 1926 • Sunday
Beautiful day. No conferences to-day. I attended 10:30 A.M. Ensign Stake High Priests quorum meeting in the 20th ward hall. I offered the closing prayer. Attended the 27th ward fast meeting at 2 P.M. and Mutual meeting in the evening and at 9:00 P.M. listened to Bro Ballards radio talk.
11 October 1926 • Monday
Beautiful day.
Our Son Ray is 16 yrs old today.
I went to the temple at 7:45 A.M. At about 11:00 A.M. I went home and got Mother and took her with me and got Nerva, Mamie & Nina and their children, 6 of their children and took them to Edna’s home where we had a nice dinner. The girls remained for the afternoon and I went to the Service Garage and had my car greased, the oil changed, and a few minor repairs made Cost $6:15 From there I went to the Temple again and did desk work &c.

Attended to my duties at the Temple as usual. I wrote to my daughter Ruby. Spent the evening at home.
13 October 1926 • Wednesday
Beautiful weather but smoky in the City.
All well. Mother & I were in the Temple at 7:50 A.M. This is about our usual time [page break] I spent the day in the temple and attended my circle meeting in the evening.
14 October 1926 • Thursday
Attended weekly Council meeting and Temple meeting and attended to the sealing as usual. I went through the Temple for George Gill in the 5:00 P.M. Session and after that sealed about 20 couples and a number of families of the Wood Robinson family. It was 11:00 P.M. when we left the Temple, 15 hours spent in the temple by me this day.

I spent a busy day in the temple. Mother and I went up to 1468,- 16th East St. and saw Sister Phoebe Wamsley of Ashland, Ky. I gave her a blessing. We also called on my Sister Nerva in her new quarters, 30 Bodell apartments. We called on our daughter Lucena who had just moved to Edith Ave, 210

Mother & I went shopping and I bought a fall suit at Z.C.M.I. for $42.50. Listed @ 47.50 I spent a good share of the day and evening studying in preparation for the morrows duties.
17 October 1926 • Sunday
Fine weather.
I took my car and with me, my wife, my son George & wife and went to conference of the Weber Stake held in the Weber Stake Tabernacle I spoke at both meetings & Geo. at 1st. [page break] I occupied about 35 minutes at each meeting & the Lord helped me. I spoke of Natures testimony of God, the Resurrection & the First Principles as the door into the Kingdom. Of the accomplishments of Joseph Smith and his successors as evidence of their divine calling. &c I listened to my son LeGrands’ radio address in the evening.

All usually well.
Beautiful weather.
I was in the Temple before 8:00 A.M. and at my desk work. Spent part of my time at the Service Garage having repairs made on my car. I made a trip to Sugar House and got Nina & children. Mother & Estella accompanied me. I took Mother to the Paramount in the evening.
19 October 1926 • Tuesday
I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual. I assisted in setting apart a large company of missionaries. I set apart eight, and offered prayer in the Missionary meeting. I went to Sugar House in the evening and brought Nina & children up to our home where they stayed all night. Orin is gone deer hunting. I listened to the Republican ralley in the Theater over the radio. The speakers were Irvine, Leatherwood & Sen. Smoot.
20 October 1926 • Wednesday
Mother & I went to the temple in the morning as usual. We had a busy day. I sealed 25 or 26 couples living. [page break] I administered to W. A. Morton & had wife at the Temple annex and took them home to Sugar House in my car. I took Nina & children home also making the second trip to Sugar House. Attended my prayer circle meeting in the evening.
21 October 1926 • Thursday
I went to the Temple as usual. Attended Temple meeting. Attended meeting of the Presidency & the Twelve, and attended to the living sealings. In the afternoon I took Mother & her three Sisters to Ogden Farmington to see their afflicted brother Lewis. I called upon Aunt Mary Ann Vanfleet. In the evening I sealed for the Robinsons, 32 couples and a number of families. Quite a number of the members of the Robinson family were present and acted as proxys.
22 October 1926 • Friday
Mother & I went to the Temple as usual when we attended the morning Temple meeting, I did sealings of living Couples, Visited A. L. Hale he having been hit with a street car and injured about the head. Later, My daughter Nina took Mother & me with her and her children for a ride down to Murray and up to the mouth of Cottonwood Canyon and return and leaving the Children at home we three went to the “American,” a picture show. We returned to the Temple for a while and saw that the work was going all right. We still have six sessions each of four days each week. [page break]

I spent the forenoon at odd jobs, apart of it in the Temple.
Left about noon in my Auto for Cornish to visit my daughter Ruby. I took with me, my wife and daughter Nerva & my wife’s sister Estella Lee. We went via Logan and stopped there and got dinner at the Blue Bird. Reached Ruby’s about 6:00 P.M. We sat up until midnight visiting, and playing rook.
24 October 1926 • Sunday
Cornish.
I took cold yesterday or last night in some unaccountable way. We visited during the day until about 4:45 P.M. when we left for home. We reached Salt Lake at 9:00 P.M. and took Estella & Nerva home and Mother & I called in LeGrands and heard Franklin S. Richards’ radio address, and had a bit of supper.
25 October 1926 • Monday
I spent some time at the Temple and attended to several important matters preparatory to leaving for the East. We had the grown ups of the family at our home in the evening where I made to them a talk of about 45 minutes. My three oldest sons & my daughter Nerva spoke briefly. We served ice cream and cake and had an enjoyable time.
26 October 1926 • Tuesday
Mother & I spent the time from 8:00 A.M. to about 3:00 P.M. in the Temple and then went home and made ready to leave for the Central States at 5:50 P.M. There were at the depot to saw me off the following: Mother, Geo & Edith [page break] Rega & Lucena, Spencer & Estella, Chas. & Edna, Oliver & Ray.
27 October 1926 • Wednesday
On train for Kansas City and the Central States. My cold, no worse, I think. Had a good night sleep & rest.
At Denver we had a stay from 12:15 to 2:30. I took a street car and went to the terminal & return at a cost of 15c.
I wrote up my journal for several days from memory.
28 October 1926 • Thursday
I left Denver at 2:30 P.M. yesterday and arrived in Kansas City at 8:15 A.M. to-day. I was met by Pres. Bennion at the depot and after driving about the best residential district of the City, we drove over to Independence. Howe we met a Bro & Sister Nielsen of North Sanpete and they & Sister Bennion & we rode about Independence for a while and then Pres. Bennion & I went to the Chamber of Commerce to luncheon By request I offered the invocation on the food. We later took train for Joplin, Mo.
