Mother & I went to the Temple in the morning as usual, where we spent the day. In the evening we attended a final meeting of the members of the Prayer Circle over which I have had the honor to preside for 22 years, with their wives in the Amusement Hall of the 21st ward in the nature of a social. We had a nice time.
2 May 1929 • Thursday
I attended 8:30 A.M. Temple meeting, a 9: A.M. meeting of the Twelve and a 10: A.M. weekly Council meeting of the First Presidency & Twelve. Spent the early evening at the Temple and later at home.
3 May 1929 • Friday
I arose at 5:00 A.M.
Mother & I went to the Temple as usual in the meeting morning.
Later I went with my son George & played a game of golf. Returned to the Temple where I remained until about 6:00 in the evening. My son George & I went to the McCullough wrestling theater.
4 May 1929 • Saturday
With Herbert Maw & Sister Cannon & Jack I left Salt Lake by auto driven by Brother at 6:40 A.M. and going via. Castlegate we arrived in Roosevelt at 1:00 P.M. with no car trouble and no unpleasantness. The opening session of Conference began at 2: P.M. with Convention of M.I.A. & Primary workers. I met with the Stake Presidency and later with the Presidency & High Council and presented to them the question of the Consolidating of the two Roosevelt wards as [page break] formerly recommended by the Stake Presidency. The former action was confirmed, by unanimous vote. With the Presidency I proceeded to Select ward officers, assuming that the people would approve, which they did in the evening meeting. We had a busy day and evening and accomplished much business.

We accomplished the Consolidation of the two Roosevelt wards, selected & set apart the Bishopric and heads of all the organization except that of the Y.L.M.
We finished our work and left Roosevelt at 5: P.M. and arrived in Salt Lake at 12:00 o’clock, midnight.
6 May 1929 Monday
I found Estella & Spencer at our home when I arrived home last night. They are returning home to-day-
I went to the Temple as usual in the morning and presided as usual at the temple meeting. In the after part of the day I took for a ride, Mother, her sister Estella, & our daughters Nerva, Sarah.
7 May 1929 • Tuesday
I spent two or three hours in the Dentists Chair. Attended duties at the Temple and later played a game of golf with my son LeGrand. Spent the evening at home.
8 May 1929 • Wednesday
Attended to my duties at the Temple and spent 2½ hrs in the Dentists chair. On invitation [page break] of President Heber J. Grant I took my car and him to the Nibley Park golf course and with Frank Y Taylor and Joseph Anderson played a game of golf. Mother & I took supper with Oliver & Marie.
9 May 1929 • Thursday
I attended 8:30 meeting of the Twelve in the Temple, 10: A.M. meeting of the Presidency & the Twelve, and attended to my duties at the Temple as usual.
10 May 1929 • Friday
Attended Temple meeting in the morning, played golf with my son George between 10 & 12 noon. Attended to my work at the Temple until evening when George & I went to the wrestling match on complimentary tickets.
11 May 1929 • Saturday
My Sister Nerva’s birthday anniversary, 71st Beautiful weather.
I spent some time at the temple and in the evening attended the first session of Grant Stake Conference held in Burton ward and addressed the meeting. Sister R. attended.
12 May 1929 • Sunday
Mother’s day.
Mother and I attended Grant Stake Conference in the morning held in Granite Stake Tabernacle. A Mothers day program was presented and I occupied about 35 minutes. We took dinner with Pres. Daynes. At the afternoon session Pres Ivins was present and he and I both spoke. Mother & I spent some time calling on children after meeting Estella & Edna were down. I [page break] phoned Ruby at Cornish after 10: P.M. and learned that Jack was in a bad way.
The children remembered Mother with presents. Beautiful day.
13 May 1929 • Monday
I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual. Mother was ill and I spent the evening at home with her. After 5 P.M. My Son George and I played a game of golf.
14 May 1929 • Tuesday
Mother’s birthday.
I spent much of the day in the Temple. Took Mother, Nerva & Sarah to Mamie’s in Sugar House. Played a game of golf with Pres. Grant, F. Y. Taylor & Jos. Anderson of Grant Stake Presidency. Mother & I took dinner with Nina & Orin, Our Son Oliver & wife called in the evening. Geo & LeGrand called during our absences.

Weather beautiful
Mother & I went to the Temple as usual. She is much improved.
I played golf with Pres. Grant.
Went to Ogden & to show with Joel & wife.
16 May 1929 • Thursday
Attended Temple meeting at 8:25, a meeting of the Twelve at 9: A.M. and regular council meeting at 10: I played golf with George, my son, in evening. Mother & I went with Oliver & Marie to a show at night.
17 May 1929 • Friday
Mother & I went to the Temple as usual to 8:25 meeting. I spent nearly 2 hrs. in the dental chair In the evening my son Geo & I saw the [page break] wrestling match.
18–19 May 1929 • Saturday–Sunday
I spent the day studying &c. Took Mother down to Sugar House to Estella Lee’s and later went after her with the auto.
I took the night train for Minidoka, thence by auto to Burley where I went to attend Burley Stake Conference. I was met at Minidoka by Dr. Toolson & was taken to Pres. Langlois’ home in Burley where I made my staying place. I attended graduating exercises of the Religion Classes & Seminary students at 9:00 A.M., Regular Stake Conference meeting at 10:30 A.M. and 2:00 P.M. & spoke at each meeting.
I took 6:20 P.M. train for home.
20 May 1929 • Monday
Arrived in S. Lake at 7:05 A.M. from Burley, Idaho. I was the Speaker at the 9:00 A.M. Temple meeting, the first to be held at this changed hour.
I gave a blessing to a sister Rodd who has been 7 mos. a widow and is approaching time of Confinement. That I did at the Gate house. My Son George called to see me asking how I felt about his applying for a position as asst. Supt. of the L.D.S. Hospital. I approved. Mother & I left the temple about 6:00 P.M. for home. Later we visited LeGrand & Ina at their home-
21 May 1929 • Tuesday
Fine day.
I spent the time from 8: to 11:30 A.M. in the dentist’s chair (Dr. E. G. R)
Went to the Temple and did desk work. Mother & I went to a show with [page break] George & Edith in the evening.
22 May 1929 • Wednesday
Mother & I went to the Temple in the morning as usual. I attended to the Sealing of about ten couples-
I took my Cousin Edith Richards Harmon in my car to the Cemetery, and there we paid the Sexton $100.50 for the perpetual upkeep of the Parker car Lot
I played a game of golf with Frank Y. Taylor and Jos. Anderson.
23 May 1929 • Thursday
I attended three Temple meetings and attended to other duties at the Temple as usual. Spent the evening at home after 7: P.M.
My Son Ray received his letter of inquiry for a mission yesterday, and to-day received several letters of instruction from the Pres. office, he having reported readiness to go already.
24 May 1929 • Friday
I went to the Temple as usual. After meeting I went to the Dentist’s where I spent a couple of hours. Attended to the sealing work &c. In the evening my son George & I having Complimentary tickets went to the wrestling match at the McCullough arena. From there I went to the Train and left at 11:35 P.M. for the Lund, thence by stage to Cedar and by auto to Parowan.
25 May 1929 • Saturday
Arrived in Parowan in train for 2: P.M. Conference meeting and addressed the meeting. Attended a meeting [page break] of the Presidency, High Council and Bishops after. I stayed the night with Bp. Adams & family.
26 May, 1929 • Sunday
Parowan.
The ground white with snow this A.M. I spoke at the forenoon and afternoon sessions of the Conference and, then rode to Cedar and spoke at the funeral services of Daniel Casey. Left for home at 7 P.M.
27 May 1929 • Monday
Arrived from Parowan Stake at 5:10 A.M. Attended to my duties at the Temple and spent some time in the Dentist’s Chair. Had an Xray photograph which showed cause of infection a foreign body. Had that extracted, which proved to be a piece of ragged bone about the size of a pea. Had my car worked, tuned &c.
I subscribed for the Tribune and too a $10,000.00 insurance policy with the Tribune people for $1.00 premium for one year.
28 May 1929 • Tuesday
I spent 2½ hrs in the dentist’s Chair, then went to the Temple. Later took Mother down to Sarah’s & after 6 o’clock played a game of golf with my sons George & LeGrand.
29 May 1929 • Wednesday
We had a very busy day at the temple. I sealed about twenty couples living. Large companies.
30 May 1929 • Thursday
Decoration Day.
Windy. I took my car and took [page break] my wife, her sister Estella Lee & my daughter Nerva out to the Tooele Cemetery and placed flowers on the graves of loved ones. We made two trips to the Cemetery during the day. Edna came from Ogden about 4: P.M. I took Mother, Edna, Ray and Alberta Gallagher to Supper at Shay’s Cafateria; and we I took them to the Capitol. Victory Theater in the Late evening.

Spent the day at the Temple except that I was out with Bro George Smith administering to Aunt Nellie Webber and to the Dentist. Had the bridge set in my mouth, ten teeth.
