1 June 1928 • Friday
I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual [page break] and in the evening attended the graduating exercises of the L.D.S. H.S. My son Ray was one of the graduates.
2 June 1928 • Saturday
Pres. Hugh J. Cannon & I with Sarah and their three children went in my Franklin Car to Heber where we attended Wasatch Stake Conference. I spoke at both the meetings Hugh spoke in the morning meeting. We returned home via Provo Canyon after 4 P.M.
3 June 1928 • Sunday
Pres. Cannon, Sarah my daughter Nerva & I went to Heber and attended Conference and returned home after Conference adjourned.
4 June 1928 • Monday
I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual. Mother and I went with Joel in demonstrating the Chrysler 62 auto with the thought in mind to buy one. We were pleased with its workings. I drove it for a while. I went to the temple in the evening and after the second session attended to some sealings, four marriages & a family of children.
5 June 1928 • Tuesday
Mother still ill at home with Eczema.
I went early to the Temple and attended to my duties there as usual.
In the afternoon I bought a 62 Chrysler Car and drove it 31 miles during the afternoon and evening. Mother went with me in the New Car to Sugar House. [page break]
6 June 1928 • Wednesday
Sister Richards still unable to come to the table Temple on account of her eczema trouble.
This is a big day at the temple We have had ten or more couples who were previously endowed and there are 54 couples in the Second Company for marriage
7 June 1928 • Thursday
I attended Temple meeting at 8:30 A.M. and Council meeting 10: A.M. to 1: P.M. Sealed about 15 or 20 couples and attended to other desk work &c. Spent the evening with my folks at home. Administered to Sister R.
8 June 1928 • Friday
Mother improved.
I attended the opening session of the M.I.A. Conference in the Assembly Hall at 9: A.M.
At noon time solemnized three marriages. Attended Primary Banquet at Hotel Utah 6: P.M. my wife accompanying. She & I attended a show.
9 June 1928 • Saturday
Attended M.I.A. Conference meeting in the morning and Offered prayer, Attended Primary jubilee parade and Primary exercises in the University stadium.
10 June 1928 • Sunday
Attended three four public conference meeting beginning at 8:30 A.M. A busy day.
Mother is improving. I am well. [page break]
11 June 1928 • Monday
I spent the forenoon at my desk in the Temple. Had a conference with Pres. R. S. Wells and we had a conference with Pres. Ivins on Ogden Dutch difficulties.
Hugh & Sarah had members of his family up to our home to Super. Rainy day.
12 June 1928 • Tuesday
I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual. Sealed about 20 couples, living people and several families of children.
Mother and I spent a couple of hours in the evening at our Daughter Nerva’s home.
13 June 1928 • Wednesday
Edna’s birthday.
Mother is not entirely well of her Eczemic trouble but is improving I went to the Temple early and attended to my duties there as usual. In the afternoon, I took Mother, Nerva & Lucena in my Chrysler 62 to Ogden, and we called at Edna’s apartment and got her and took her with us up Ogden Canyon to the Hermitage resort where we had luncheon &c. Arrived home about 10:30 P.M.
14 June 1928 • Thursday
I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual, sealed a number of couples, had Elder J. E. Talmage help me.
Attended weekly Council meeting
Played golf with Pres. Nibley. [page break]
15 June 1928 • Friday
I attended to my duties at the Temple as usual. In the evening Mother & I went to the Temple and remained until both sessions were through.
16 June 1928 • Saturday
I played a game of golf with Pres. C. W. Nibley and tied him in strokes, 54:, but I won in number of holes. I got 5 on five of the holes but lost out in penalties. I spent the afternoon in the Temple, doing desk work &c.
17 June 1928 • Sunday
My son LeGrand & I having been appointed by the First Presidency, attended a Dutch speaking Conference in Ogden. We attended special committee meeting at 9 to 10 and 12 to 2 trying to compare differences existing between the different Dutch organizations. I spoke at the afternoon session in the Tabernacle.
I took with me Sister Richards, Lucena & Nina. We spent some time at Ednas.
18 June 1928 • Monday
I went to the Temple in the morning as usual.
From this date until June 30th is written on the 30th from memory.
I had been having Sciatic trouble. Have been twice to Dr Pearl Udal Nelson who said that my Innomiate bone was misplaced & who is supposed to have replaced [page break] it, but the results have not been satisfactory. As far as I know she did me no good.
I have the symptoms exactly as indicated by the Standard Encyclopedia for Sciatica.
I attended to my temple work and other duties as usual. Tues. Wed. Thu & Fri and remained in bed Sat, Sunday & Monday 25th. Thur 26 Attended quarterly meeting of the Twelve. Wed. 27th. Had help with the Sealing Thur. Attended Council meeting of the Twelve & Presidency. Fri. 29th Left the Temple at 9:30 A.M. and went to bed and nursed my sciatica. Sat. June 30th in bed all day. My sciatica no better apparently.
