Cache Stake Primary; Hyde Park, Utah Territory

Sister Eliza R. S. Smith then addressed the children. said she called the primary children her’s and loved them all She wished to know how many there were present at the meeting when it was orignized. Said she was very much pleased with our singing because we spoke the words plainly and knew that the Lord was pleased with us. Said that Jesus died for the sins of the world and that he would come again on the earth and if we live as we are taught to live we can have the privledge of receiving his blessings. Told us of the visit to Jeruselem where our Saviour was [p. 28] crucified and to Bethlehem where our Saviour was born, and on the Mount of Olivles [Olives] where he gave his disiples many good instructions Said she wished we could re[a]lize that our Saviour died for us and while we are trying to do right not to smoke, be truthful, obey our parents, attend our meetings and always be pun[c]tual for angles [angels] are in our midst we can not see them but some day the Lord will touch our eyes so we could see reserected [resurrected] beings. Wished that when the boys grew up they could that they had never told a lie. told us the story of George Washington and the hatchet Said we could be better men and women then there had been for many thousands of years. Said that the prophet Joseph Smith presided over the church 14 years and Bro. [Brigham] Young 33 years, asked some questions which the children answered Said if we were good while young when we grow up we will be happier. Said we must get a testimony of the Gospel But must ask for it and seek for it Said that every child from 4 years should attend the Primary. Said the children should be taught early to get the Spirit of the Gospel before they had the things of Bablon [Babylon] in their hearts. Said She was present at the first orginzation of the Y. M. M. I. A. [Young Men’s Mutual Improvement Association] and she orginized the Y. L. M. I. A. [Young Ladies’ Mutual Improvement Association] And she sho[w]ed us the [p. 29] watch that the prophet Joseph carried Stake presidend [President] J. [Jane] E Molen said She was pleased to meet with the children again. Said Sister [Eliza R. Snow] Smith was mother of us all because she was mother in Isreal [Israel]. told us to be sure and have a fair and said never make bangs and gave other good instructions. [. . .]

Sister Smith said that the greatest artests [artists] and skiled work–men in all kinds of things would come from the boys of the primary who are trained while young, said every one should make something for the fair. Said that great men and women of the world came and saw the things that the children had made her. [. . .] [p. 30]
