Sister Mrs Eliza R Snow met with us and was nominated and appointed to preside over our meeting by the wish of the President, Sister Miss Eva [E.] Chadwick.

President Eliza R Snow then said, I think it is much better to commense while you are young. We have meetings in every Ward of Salt Lake City except two. I feel pleased with your minutes. I hope you will be punctual to your appointments. I entreat you to be honest. I learn that you have not named your Association, you should give it a name that it can be recorded with your minutes. Most of the young ladies organizations are called Retrenchment. Retrench is not [p. 15] properly used by many of our young ladies. The definition of it is to retrench from our ignorance and from every thing that is not prop lady like, & I wish you would change the word rules, to resolutions. I wish you to be the happiest people upon the earth. I wish you to contribute something to the Womans Exponant which is published in Salt Lake City and be represented among the rest of the associations that are represented there. It was motioned and seconded and sustained that the association be called the young Ladies Retrenchment Association of North Ogden.

Sister [Elizabeth A.] Howard said, I hope the young ladies will treasure up the instructions of Sister Eliza R Snow [. . .] [p. 16]
