Sister Snow said: The weather being so unfavorable was sufficient apology for such a small meeting, but those who had come were brave. She felt very much pleased that the Deacon’s quorum had been organized in this Ward and felt like saying to the young boys: “God bless you.” Although she felt weak in performing her duties, she hoped she would have the help of God to strengthen her; she had been carefull in selecting councillors, one at least with whom she was acquainted, would be able to attend, when other duties called her away.

She hoped to have been able to define the districts and the labors of the teachers, she did not want them to consider themselves as beggars, but accept anything that may be offered them. We have to commence as others have done, with nothing, but with energy and perseverance and the help of God we can accomplish a great deal. I know the sisters feel a little timid in speaking, but if they will persevere, they will by and by be able to control large congregations. I don’t think we can accomplish any business to-day, there being such a few present.— [p. 3]

Bishop L. [Lorenzo] D. Young said he wished to exhort the sisters to look after the poor in the ward; he would like to know if they were in need of fuel to keep themselves warm. Sister Snow said sisters Susan and Martha Young had been faithfull teachers in the 13th Ward, and they had expressed a desire to retain them, but we were short of teachers and could not spare them. [. . .] [p. 4]
