Farmington Relief Society; Farmington, Utah Territory

[. . .] Miss E. R. Snow, Mrs S. [Sarah M.] Kimball, and Mrs. E. [Elvira S.] Barney, from Salt Lake City, as also some of the Brethren met with us

[. . .]

Miss E. R. Snow then addressed the meeting. Said it was thought best to see if the sisters felt to sustain their President [Sarah I. Holmes] and the officers in the Society. A vote was taken to that effect which was unanimous. She then gave much good instruction; spoke of the duty of both officers and members, said she understood [p. 378] the arduous task of a secretary, and the Teachers occupy a very responsible position, there is none more important; and that it was the right of each member if she was not called to fill a position to do all she can for the good of the whole. In ancient times with what little record we have there was holy women, and these societies are to help the Apostles. Encouraged home industry, spoke of the silk that had already been made here, advised the setting out of more Mulberry trees. Wished the sisters to help support the Commission Store in Salt Lake City. Said let us put away our selfishness and put our thoughts on the Lord and in building up his Kingdom. &c.

Mrs. Sarah Kimball followed in making remarks, spoke of the interest of Sister Snow in trying to diffuse the spirit of home industry among the people. [. . .] The brethren bore testimony to the truth of what had been said, had been edified in hearing the sisters for they had been dictated by the spirit of God. Said this meeting had been a profitable one, and may God bless those who have come to visit us. [. . .] [p. 379]
