Coun. Mrs. S. [Sarah M.] Kimball said

I am pleased to be with you to-day and with the remarks of the sisters, that preceded me. This is a time of deep reflection and thought to all thinking minds. This is the first time since I have become a resident of this city, that I have seen so much prostitution stalking abroad There are others here who wish to speak and we would like to hear them I pray God to bless us, is my prayer,

Mrs. [Serepta M.] Heywood

I am happy to meet with you today. Pres [Ulysses S.] Grant does not realize that he is fighting against God. I feel that deliverance [n.p.] will come and we shall conquer if we do right. Do not feel like dropping <renouncing> R. [retrenchment] but like sustaining it. How often we hear R. is played out. Sisters it is too true I very much regret it is so.

Coun Miss E. R. Snow said

A few ladies got up a <list of> subscription for the Omaha Herald. She then read a letter received from the Eeditor, After which she said, Sister Kimball alluded to some remarks on poligamy as its being an antidote for the Social Evil, Has there ever been any social evil in Utah until the Adversary thought he had poligamy bound? Many noble women of the world have been trying to abolish the social evil but have failed in their efforts plurality of wives have done more for the putting of it down than all the earth besides. In regard to Retrenchment Sister Heywood said she is sorry so many of the young ladies had abandoned it. I too am sorry. I know our religion is as worth dying for today as it was 1800, years ago, Let us be humble sisters
