There were present from the city Sisters Snow [Emmeline B.] Wells and [Mary Isabella] Horne. [. . .]

Mrs. [Elizabeth A.] Howard said she was pleased to have so good and attendance and would have been a great deal more pleased if more of the brethren had been present.

We have Sisters Snow Horne & Wells with us to day. I pray that the spirit of the Lord may be in our midst [. . .] [p. 426] [. . .] [p. 427]

Miss E R Snow said I am always happy to meet with a congregation of my sisters but in a meeting like this I would like to see more of the brethren. I wish to say something that may benefit us all The question is who are we that compose this congregation are we the women of the world or are we those spirits that God has held in reserve to assist in the great work of the last days. This work devolves upon each one of us; we were born for this purpose We are daughters of the most high God. Why is it that we are associated together it is because God wants our assistance We have covenanted to work all day long just as we earn so our reward will be in the end and we are left to choose the future. Shall we live after the manner of the world or shall we be saints indeed, We want really live and active members. We want to do something with an eye single to the glory of God. We have trifled long enough with the things of God. We must not get discouraged if we do not go on to perfection as fast as we ought and we must not give way to discouragement We are all creatures of habit and it is important that we cultivate such habits as will meet the smile and approbation of God I beg of you my sisters to come to meeting it is for our own good I must go to meeting that I may have the Spirit of God and that I may be humble. There are a great many things to talk about They are getting up a bill in Washington to take away the right of franchise from us and without that right we will be trampled in the dust and be driven to and fro. It is God who has given us the privilege of voting and the sister who neglects this right neglects a very important duty. The time has nearly arrived when the Lord will pour out his destruction on Babylon and are we prepared for that time I am afraid we will not be prepared. Let us encourage home manufacture. I am very happy in meeting with you [p. 428]

May God bless you that you may be humble that your hearts may be filled with joy and peace that you may become a strong power that you may rejoice in all your labors I ask in the name of Jesus. Amen. [. . .] [p. 429]
