Sister E R Snow and Sister E [Emmeline] B Wells were present. [. . .] [p. 101] [. . .]

Sister E R Snow Said the organization of relief society’s was the best and most sacred orga[n]ization on the earth Said that the teachers has a much higher calling than to beg for property. Said that if the Lord had not spoken we would not have come under condemnation for not living up to the duties required of us. [p. 102]

Said we are not trying to supercede the men, but trying to help them said she was glad to see so many brethren present. Spoke of the necessity of the brethren & sisters acting in union together & the necessity of our being alive to our duties at all times. Said if the sisters were all united they were a power to help the bishop. Spoke of the necessity of our exercisizing faith said it was necessary for the sisters to be able to lay hands on and administer to the sick.1 Spoke on the duties of teachers in the relief society said that the teachers was the most responsible position in the society & the necessity of their being humble & filled with the spirit of the Lord so that they may be able to discern the spirits of those whom they visit & to comfort the sick & afflicted said she thought it wisdom to put in good and experienced women with the young girls as teachers Spoke of the deplorable condition of the young people at the present time & the necessity of our teaching our young boys so that they may be able to teach the principles of the gospel if called on to go on missions. [p. 103]

Spoke of the good that results from improvement associations. Said that it would be the faithful that would reap the reward. said that the spirit of the gospel unites us together & that obedience to the gospel requires active service. encouraged the sisters to stick to their integrity & advised them not to speak against pollygamy. Said there was a time coming when we would have to give an account of all our actions said we all the privilidge of attaining to a fullness of the gospel if we will spoke earnestly to mothers to exert a good influence over the minds of their children in regard to reading good & useful books & papers. [. . .] [p. 104]
