Draper Relief Society and Young Ladies; Draper, Utah Territory

[. . .] Sister Snow arose & stated the object of the meeting. Said that it depended very much on the Mothers. That mothers had the principal care of the children & should be very careful to set good examples before their children. Spoke of a circumstance that she had heard of at Fillmore where a young man was convicted of stealing. Said how much more noble it was to have a good character than to be adorned with all the finery that Babylon can supply us with. Said that when lay on our dying bed our thoughts would not be whether we had had all the nice things that we desired The nice houses, & furniture & conveniences of life. No she said our thoughts would be in quite another channel. Said that when we looked back upon our past lives, we would feel better to look back upon a life well spent, than we would to feel to hide our heads & call for the rocks & mountains to fall upon us & hide us from the face of an offended God. Said she wished to have her affections placed up[on] God & the things of God. Said she did not have her rooms fitted up in much style &c Moved & seconded that Sr Julia Stewart be President of of the Young Ladies Retrenchment Society Unanimous vote. [. . .] Sr Snow requested all that wished to join the Retrenchment Society. [n.p.]
