Remarks by Coun Miss E. R. Snow.

The absence of the minutes of the Young Ladies Association is a circumstance which has <never> occured before. In a letter to his family President [Brigham] Young says that his health has daily improved since he left the city The brethren are at work on the temple There is no particular subject for today. In attending a meeting in the 13th Ward Assembly I was asked what constitutes a woman of God. It is an excellant subject and would be be pleased to hear the sisters speak upon it. Sister [Mary Isabella Hales] Horne requested me to state that she had received five dollars and some cents which was not sufficient to buy fule fuel. Sister [Margaret R.] Odd, the sister that has been through a course of treatment <for cancers> is very ill and thought she was dying last night she would like her temple clothes in readiness She lacks a robe, a cap and apron. I hope the sisters will contribute so that she may have them. I will the meeting in the hands of the sisters.

Mrs. W. [Willmirth G.] East [. . .] Sister Snow has given us an excellent subject. What is it to be a woman of God? it requires firmness, humility, faith and all that God requires of woman. Many of the sisters would like to attend these meetings but their domestic duties compels them to stay at home I wish I <we> could control our time that we could improve in our spiritual as well as our temporal welfare. It is a highly necessary that women should know that this is the kingdom of God as it is for man. [. . .]

Coun. Mrs E. [Elizabeth A.] Howard. I have been wondering why the sisters are not improving the privileges they have in speaking [n.p.] Sister Snow has given us an excellent text and there is not one sister here but that can give some ideas. I know that it is a cross to arise and speak but we must try and over come that timidity. I think a woman that tries to overcome all the evil that is within her is a good Saint. We can give way to our tempers and feelings of jealousy and it only makes us miserable. [. . .]

I only wish to say a few words. Sister Snow has given us an excellent talk subject to speak upon. The way that I think would make a perfect woman is to have the spirit of God continually in her bosom. [. . .]
