Anniversary Celebration; Salt Lake City, Utah Territory
The 21st of Jan., 1874, was the seventieth anniversary of the birth-day of Miss Eliza R. Snow.
Early in the evening of that day, she was called upon by a goodly number of the sisters, who met in honor of the day—to pay their respects to her and offer congratulations. Although a surprise, the reception and greeting were most cordial and happy Miss Snow expressed her gratification and recognition of the high honor conferred by her sisters, in those renewed testimonies of regard in their kind remembrances on that her seventieth birth-day. She said that the day had been a pleasant one, and, to her that anniversary was the most satisfactory of any within her remembrance. It was a pleasing reflection that she was really seventy years of age.

Miss Snow was much moved by the warm and heartfelt expressions of appreciation from the sisters—briefly responding by saying that her heart was too full for utterance—she was grateful to God and to her sisters for all the testimonials of love and confidence, which made her feel very humble, and desirous of living worthy of the blessing bestowed.
It was an evening never to be forgotten by those present. Indeed, we think a more interesting and enjoyable was seldom, if ever, spent.
