From Salt Lake City [. . .] Sisters E R Snow said the time was when men would ridacule [ridicule] a sister for standing up and speaking while the bretheren sat still, women must work out her own salvation spoke of obedience to the gospel her sacrifice <when she> whent in to the watters of babtism we were required to live a life of sacrifice by our heavenly father the object of R S [Relief Society] was to improve and refine women and fit her for a higher society as well as to relieve the sick and poor, of our forming characters that Angels would be pleased with, it was our privalige [privilege] to talk with God if we lived up to our religion
Spoke of good society the principles of the gospel were pure and refining also of a mothers influence over her children society depended in a great measure on women spoke to the young men how much nobler to fill a position in <the> church than to be a President of the United States <spoke> of the injurious influence of tobacco, spoke of Death it is only sleeping to the [p. 105] faithfull, spoke of the duties of teachers in the Relief societies exhorted all to be faithfull and bear her testimony to celestial marriage it was necessary for the redemption of the human family [. . .] [p. 106]
