Sister Snow said: There have been many important subjects suggested before you and I indorse them heartily. I want to say a few words with regard to the education of the young. Will the mother establish in the mind of the infant child that the religion which she professes is important? Every thing must be done in order for the feeding of the immortal mind. It is natural that the mother makes the first impression upon the child; they take impression before we are aware of it. The child watches the mother; the child protects the spirit of the mother. She should show by her influence and her works that she adds importants [importance] to it. This requires every day practice. If the mother has so much to do that she can not attend the associations, whether she regards the Sabbath day, the child sees this either in one direction or the other. Does the mother manifest before the child that this is very important? Send your children to meeting my sisters. This is important. I would rather sacrifice every pleasure that is not a duty than prevent the children to go to meeting. The mother should implant in the minds of her children the principles which will make men and women of them and carry them to the highest courts of eternity and other very interesting remarks. [p. 488]
