Sister E. R. Snow presiding, in the absence of the President [Rachel R. Grant] and her Counsellors [Annie T. Godbe and Margaret T. Mitchell] [. . .]

Sister E. R. Snow, arose and made a few remarks as to our numbers being few, though more than at the first organisation of the Church which of course were men, but as women we have the privilege of receiving blessings in attending our meetings, serving God and being humble, bringing together our mites. Referred to our privileges, above the primitive christians, while one had to watch while others read the Bible. She believed she was the first one to whom the Prophet Joseph Smith made known the idea of the organisation of Relief Societies. He said the time would come, when every one would be called to make a sacrifice, hypocrisy then would avail nothing.—

The more we can control ourselves and our actions, the more we are perfected, and the nearer we shall approach to the point we wish to arrive. She loved to hear her Sisters speak and express their feelings. She was satisfied there was a test coming to prove us all.— [. . .] [p. 242]
