South Cottonwood Ward Relief Society; Cottonwood [Murray], Utah Territory

[. . .] After the business of the meeting Sister Eliza R. Snow made some excellent remarks in regard to the Female Relief Society and encouraged us in our labors. Said it was a great and good work and hoped we would all feel interested in its prosperity. Said the Teachers or visiting Committee were not called upon to visit merely to collect means but to instruct and also to correct the morals of the young in particular. She then read some of the minutes of the Female Relief Society Nauvoo. [. . .] [p. 6]

Sister Eliza R. Snow in behalf of the Presidentess [Janet Cahoon] made a motion that their be Presidents appointed to act in each district it was unanimously carried but the nomination was defered until the next meeting. Sister Jennett Cahoon requested the Bp [Bishop Andrew Cahoon] who was present to make a few remarks He said he had been well pleased with the remarks of Sister Snow, And said we should be truly thankful for the privilege we had of meeting with Sister Snow who was the first Secretary ordained in this great work [. . .] [p. 7]
