Snow said your president [Diana Reid] requested me to speak upon the raising of beans; weavels [weevils] nor bugs will never destroy them, they can be stored and kept for years in safety we can see by the strike last year how soon we can be cut off from the supplies of the East When we were baptized we turned our backs upon the world; the Lord said give me thy heart every thing we do should be for the interest of the kingdom of God; he has placed it in our reach to attain to the highest glory. Let us do our kitchen work in this life and when we lay off mortality step into the parlor and enjoy eternal fullness is my prayer in the name of Jesus Amen. [. . .] [p. 562]
