Miss E. R. Snow by request followed: Speaking of the dread which many feel in regard to the practice of Surgery, that it was something Awful, to be dreaded, but as we become familiar with it, it will lose it formidableness and repulsiveness, and will not appear so.

We need Saintly physicians, whose interest is for the kingdom of God, and who are full of wisdom and understanding. She wished to see the daughters of Zion, preparing to step forth in any walk of life, if necessa[r]y amid the royality of the earth, and become indeed polished stones. To be able to do this we must make an attempt to cultivate ourselves, for without this beginning, we must remain just where we are making no advancement whatever. We are creatures of habit we form those habits and break them, as we will. and we can so educate ourselves as to be able to stand and express our thoughts with as much control as we would, in sitting.

This should encourage us to make the attempt and add little by little to our store-house of knowledge.

Miss Snow, said she would define “Candor” as truth in Action. And speaking of the diffidence which the girls felt in rising, to speak, she said the adversary knows this is the starting point, the beginni[n]g to advocate Gods work, and he wishes to do all in His power, to pull it down.

She proposed for the next eveni[n]g the subject of “perseverance” which was accepted.
