4 April 1893 • Tuesday

The April Conference began today as it had been advertised in the papers, there was a very slim attendance tho’ quite a number were from a distance. I went to the opening in the morning. In the afternoon I remained in to attend to business, some people from the country were constantly coming in and I was kept very busy [p. 114] {p. 61}

5 April 1893 • Wednesday

People have crowded in more than there has been provided for, but a committee will take care of the over flow– [p. 115] {p. 62}

11 April 1893 • Tuesday

This is Belle’s wedding day and we had some important business on hand all day long– [p. 121] {p. 63}

13 April 1893 • Thursday

Emeline [Young] Wells birthday. I am so full of World’s Fair work it is quite impossible to call on any of the family much as I would like to do so. This afternoon at two p.m. there was a special meeting of the Central Board and various matters came up for consideration [p. 123] {p. 64}

15 April 1893 • Saturday

The birthday of my dear brother Hiram [E. W. Clark] [p. 125] {p. 65}

17 April 1893 • Monday

This morning Mrs. Salisbury sent for me to come to her house and when there I found she had word from Mrs. [Bertha Honoré] Palmer in regard to the silk industry, Mrs. [Emily Tanner] Richards Mrs. Bennett and Mrs. Allen were there. She informally organized a Committee with Mrs. Bennett as Chairman. Letter today from Mell saying she will be here on Friday morning [p. 127] {p. 66}

18 April 1893 • Tuesday

This morning Mrs. Salisbury sent for me to come up to her house and although I was so very busy I went immediately as she was going to leave that night

Informal meeting specially called to talk over the representation to be made in Chicago by the Relief Society and to thke [take] into consideration the matter of delegates, the papers had been given out beforehand and the circulars printed– [128] {p. 67}

19 April 1893 • Wednesday

John Q.’s birthday I only gave him a necktie very delicate in color and fine in texture– we had a nice dinner, little Daniel is still quite ill but improving all the time [p. 129] {p. 68}

21 April 1893 • Friday

This morning I went to the depot at 8 o clock to be sure and be on time and had to wait until about ten for Mell & Verona [Dunford Hillard] to arrive they came first to the office and then to the Templeton where they took rooms Mell had the corner facing West & North and Verona one facing due north–

This is my brother Manson [J. Woodward]’s birthday he is 72 and still able to attend to his business [p. 131] {p. 69}
