Jennette Meiklejohn DeLaMare was born on 13 April 1840 in Alexandria, Scotland, to Robert Meiklejohn and Mary McLachlan. Her family came to Utah Territory in 1855. She married Philip DeLaMare on 16 July 1857, becoming his third wife. After studying obstetrics in the 1880s at the direction of apostle Francis M. Lyman, Jennette became a community nurse. She was also Relief Society president in Tooele, Utah Territory, until she moved to Salt Lake City, Utah Territory in 1891. DeLaMare moved back to Tooele in 1899 and died on 26 March 1905.[1]
