William McBride

1807– 1895

Born in Green County, Ohio; baptized in home state in 1841; moved his family to Nauvoo, Illinois, in 1845; driven out by mob activity in fall 1846; immigrated to Salt Lake City in 1848; called on a mission to Hawai‘i in 1852; labored primarily on O‘ahu and served on committee appointed to locate gathering place for Hawaiian Saints; went to California in 1854 to try to secure a press; labored in California until 1855; settled in Santaquin, Utah, where he served as bishop; ordained a patriarch in 1877; subsequently moved to Richfield, Utah, and then Pima, Arizona; returned to Salt Lake City in 1890; lived there until his death.
