Heber Chase Kimball

1801– 1868

Born in Sheldon, Vermont; moved to New York, where he was baptized in 1832; ordained an apostle in 1835 while living in Kirtland, Ohio; served three missions to eastern U.S. and two to England between 1835 and 1844; member of vanguard pioneer company that entered Salt Lake Valley in July 1847; sustained later that year as first counselor to President Brigham Young in First Presidency; served in that capacity until his death; died in Salt Lake City from injuries sustained in a fall.
